From the EQ2 Forums: Last weekend was so great, we decided to do it again! Starting at 12:01pm (noon) Pacific on Friday, November 2 , 2012, and lasting until 11:59pm Pacific on Sunday, November 4, 2012, we’re offering Double Experience in EverQuest II! Take advantage of this limited time offer and watch those XP bars fill up! REMEMBER: Each copy of the Chains of Eternity expansion will include two baubles which you can use to boost two level 90 characters to 280 AAs. So don’t fret about any level 90 characters that are short on AAs, instead work on...
When the Chains of Eternity expansion was announced, the Collector’s Edition goodies were revealed to include Krivix Honorclaw, a Werewolf Mercenary, a healer. Then at SOE Live, players suggested that it would be great to have a choice of healer or tank for the CE, and so the decision was made on the spot to offer a choice of Paladin or Templar for each person who claims the merc. Today, Holly “Windstalker” tweeted a screenshot of Krivok Honorclaw the Templar, who is a new Werewolf-like race, the Lujien:
So last night, we announced that we had made a snapshot of the AAs for some 150,000 characters which people could view at Beetny.com. We were pretty proud of ourselves until someone asked if that included the Beastlord warder AAs. It didn’t. Beatny doesn’t cover Beastlord warders. So because we try harder, we’ve gone back and made an actual backup of every character’s AAs right here on EQ2U and will hang onto it until well after the expansion. That’s over 416,000 characters. When the expansion hits on November 13th, you now have two backups you can use. The original...

From the EQ2 Forums as of 20 minutes ago: Hi Everyone, We are experiencing some issues with eCommerce at the moment, which is impacting how Krono appear in game. We are working on a resolution to this currently, which is why you may be experiencing some delays in Krono showing as available. We are sorry for the inconvenience and will update you as soon as more information is available. Thanks for your patience. ~Dexella UPDATE: As we work on a fix for these eCommerce issues, users may experience problems with game and forum logins and some forum permissions. UPDATE:...
From the EQ2 Forums: Krono is live in EQ2! Buy, trade, sell 30 days of Gold Membership time! To Buy or Use Krono in game, open your Character’s Equipment panel (“C” is the hotkey) and find the Krono interface at the bottom. For more detail, see http://tinyurl.com/eq2krono. The near universal reaction from players to the addition of Krono to the Character/Persona window has been that the UI elements are far too obtrusive. Left: The new Persona window with large Krono “Buy” and “Use” buttons at the bottom. Right: My mockup for a more subdued Krono interface. Clicking the left...
If you watched the SOE Live Keynote/Welcome Reception, or read our notes, you know that today October 29th is the day that Krono are being added to EQ2. This Plex-like currency allows players to trade platinum for a 30-day All Access Subscription (a $17.99 value). At the Business of EverQuest Franchise panel (read our notes), Dave “SmokeJumper” Georgeson indicated that this new currency would be a safer option for players to bypass the whole nail-biting “handoff” associated with the current SC-for-Plat trading scheme. It would also help cut out gold farmers and fraud.
With the EverQuest II: Chains of Eternity expansion comes new Prestige abilities, and that means an AA reset. In years past, news of an AA reset has seen players scrambling to capture screenshots of their AA tabs or scribbling down notes about where you’ve spent points (and how many) on each tree. This year, we have a better suggestion: Sit back, relax, and let EQ2U do the work for you! On October 28-29th, Dethdlr wrote and ran a script to Backup the AAs of every followed character on EQ2U, plus every single level 90, 91, and 92 EQ2 character...

From EverQuest2.com: EverQuest II’s ninth expansion, Chains of Eternity™, will be taking adventurers to a realm never intended for living souls: Ethernere. What waits for them there? And what will happen to Norrathians as they cross the barrier between the living and the dead, a barrier that some seers argue never should have been breached?
From the EQ2 Forums: GENERAL SOE Live: By popular demand, you can now hide flying mounts, unless you are flying. Fixed an issue with copying characters to the Beta server.
So it seems like every year, I mistranscribe at least one thing said in the panels. At the frenetic pace required to cover the content, it’s inevitable, but it still leads to grief for developers and I apologize for that. In this case, with the upcoming Group XP changes (which I am very excited about), somehow I got the impression that if you were not on the hate list (you had not either damaged the mob or healed or buffed an ally) you would get NO xp in the group. This couldn’t be further from the truth. From Terrogaunt...
At SOE Live, we got to see some amazing flythrough videos of the EverQuest II: Chains of Eternity. A Youtube video has been posted by CyberInk which includes just some of this. NOTE: Some of these zone flythroughs were taken a few weeks ago, and we were told by artists at SOE Live that changes have been made since then, so if you want to see how these zones look now, head over to the Beta server!!
Ahead of schedule, the EverQuest II: Chains of Eternity Public Beta is NOW OPEN! How Do I Get to Beta? Unlike past betas, there is no Non-Disclosure Agreement to accept, and no separate Beta launcher to run. To access the Chains of Eternity, simply close and reopen your EverQuest II Launcher, click on the Version link in the top left corner (US English for US players), switch the region to “Beta“, click Apply, and let the patching begin! Beta Copy is 1000% better from how it has been handled in past expansion Betas. Instead of typing /beta and hoping...
From Holly “Windstalker” Longdale on the EQ2 Forums: Sorry we haven’t been more specific. We will do a stability pass in the morning and open when it is stable. We are aiming before noon PDT and we will keep you updated. So wait a minute… Every other beta, there have been e-mail signups a month prior for us to all sign NDA and all that jazz. I guess we’ll know in a couple of hours what path they choose to go.
Normally I’d be banging the drum about Public Beta being cool, but hory shet I’ve got plenty...
I think dinner is wrapping up. Food choices best described as bare bones. :/ Grand Finale. Also being broadcast on Twitch.tv I believe. Every year, Fan Faire goes by faster.
The second Coder’s Panel was like last year’s Geek panel. We got to ask tech questions of SOE devs of all games. It’s not for everyone but its one of my favorite panels. I love behind the scenes stuff. Getting ready for the Banquet, Costume Contest, and any surprises they throw at us. We’ll also see the premiere of Dethdlr’s winning SOEmote video! If you have been reading some of the panel notes going “Wha?” I’ll be going through tomorrow am before my flight adding in some more meaning and formatting as well as a few more panel photos....
I don’t want to misquote anyone, so I am transcribing the most clear-cut questions and answers. Anything else will be in the transcript video. Question about tradeskillers making kilts and getting more styles. Q: Freeport and Qeynos lets anyone do writs. Neriak is more picky. Gorowyn is selective as well. Can this be made more consistent? Q: A Krono is $17.99. Why is it more than 30 days sub costs at Walmart for $14.99? A: We don’t endorse the selling of cards in-game, but it’s a completely supported in-game method of trading in-game subs. Q: Are you going to...
Dave Georgeson – EQ Franchise Holly Longdale – EQ2 Producer Thom Terrazas – EQ1 Producer What’s this panel about? * An overview of our current business model. * What we don’t like about it and how we intend to fix it. – Most of which should come as good news * Short presentation and then Q&A We are not going to reveal numbers because of competitors, but we’ll give ratios and percentages.
Headed to Podcasting panel soon. Dellmon of the awesome EQ2Talk podcast on the panel. Will record a video. Already 7 hours (30GB) of vids, including our EQ2U panel, to crunch down and post. Panel starting now. Dev intros. Back by popular demand — CONTENT * New overland zones * New Dungeons * New Raids * Signature line more accessible * New type of adornments * More Prestige abilities * Level cap to 95
So for those folks behind on AAs, if you buy Chains of Eternity, you get an item you can claim 2 per account (not 1 per character) that if you are level 90 it dings you to 280AAs.
Waiting for Keynote #2 to start. Supposed to EQ, EQ2, and DCUO. Brasse talking about nVidia sponsor. Military gamers on stage. 10, 15, 20 years. This is for an nVidia GeForce 6600Ti card. DCUO keynote up first. Will come back with EQ2 stuff. Wrapping up DCUO. Waiting for EQ or EQ2.
This is a more behind-the-scenes technical type panel, so will not be covered live on EQ2Wire. I’m recording a video. Also got a video of the ProSieben panel. Thanks Dedith — you rock!!! UPDATE: Getting Cozy with Coders was not like Geek Panel last year. Instead, it was EQ2 devs at the front of the room and players can just go up and ask them questions. So kind of an organized Kelethin, without alcohol. 5pm panel is Fansite panel. Nobody told me what I’m supposed to do/so so I guess I’ll just wing it.
Next info is SOE...
Sorry for the late start. I am videoing this panel as well. Just typing the most important stuff: * Remove Adornments from items * Adjustment to Mentor Experience * Group XP Penalty is gone – must be on hate list * 280 AA reward with the expansion * Guild Chronomage * Guild Deity Altars * Guild Standards more
