For the last three years, Player Panels have added another perspective to the expected Developer-led panels at the annual Fan Faire SOE Live conventions. Last year, an EQ2 player named Katanallama presented a standing room only (including two EQ2 devs) panel which cracked the code of EQ2 Macros and Advanced Combat Tracker triggers. The concepts can go deep, but he presents it in a way that any EQ2 player can grasp. During the panel there was a ton of great information shared and useful questions asked and answered. This video has now been posted on Youtube. Katanallama also posted...
Daybreak Live (SOE Live/Fan Faire)
Looks like we won’t be going to Las Vegas this summer, or if we do, it won’t be to cover EverQuest II. From Linda “Brasse” Carlson on Twitter: SOE Live will take a hiatus as we focus on our exciting transition and the future of Daybreak Game Company. — Brasse (@Brasse) February 2, 2015 and from Facebook: For those asking about SOE Live: we are taking a hiatus from our annual Live event to shift our focus to our exciting transition and the future of Daybreak Game Company. and the SOE Live forums which are now locked.
If you have a powerful need for bigger EQ2 bags, there are now three ways to get them, two if you didn’t attend SOE Live this year. Claws of Veeshan (66 slot) backpack for attending SOE Live 2014 [eq2u]Rallic Pack[/eq2u] (64 slot) — This bag requires a [eq2u]rallic pack pattern[/eq2u] which is a random drop from a Grimling Runner while working on the “Grim Running” tradeskill mission offered on Tuesdays in the Tranquil Sea. Naylie’s Nebulous Newsbag (66 slot) — Granted for completing the Guide-offered quest “Nebulous Newsies“. You must pickup this quest from a Guide (a volunteer player) somewhere...

Members of the EverQuest II Art team including EQ2 Art Director Tim “Hoahmaru” Heydelaar, Dave “Covic” Brown, Tom “Ttobey” Tobey, and Chris “Phatkins” Atkins talk about the upcoming Altar of Malice expansion, and give us a look behind-the-scenes with concept art, clips and stills. Recorded live on August 17 2014 at SOE Live. Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada. Video edited and produced by EQ2Wire.
Wow has it been 3 weeks since SOE Live 2014? I’m hopelessly behind on getting all my post-con stuff done, but Dellmon and Osgz have saddled up and recorded another episode of the best (wait, isn’t it the only?) EQ2 podcast! From EQ2Talk: Episode #77 – What Happens in Vegas recorded on Aug 30 Dellmon and Osgz’s lives are finally returning to normal after SOE Live 2014. With Dell’s on the ground experiences and Oz’s perspectives via Twitch, there is much to discuss. From zombie prom to tournament play to Fippy and a schwag bag, your EQ2 Talk hosts...
Forgive us if we have whiplash, as for the third time this year, EverQuest II has been assigned a new community manager. From Maggie “Luperza” Krohn on the EQ2 Forums: Norrathians, We’ve had a short but sweet journey together. Although I’ve been a player in this community for a long time, it’s been wonderful being your Community Manager for the last few months. I am proud of the contributions we have made together in this community, and remain inspired by the passion you all bring to the game with your feedback. We created a new web show series, EverQuest II...
Because sleep is overrated, EQ2 fan Afista spent the weekend meticulously transcribing the two EverQuest II Q&A panels and has posted them on EQ2 ZAM. Also don’t miss the notes from the all-important Mechanics panel posted by Cyliena as linked below. I got a kick out of hanging out with both of them at SOE Live and seeing what they’re doing for the EQ2 community. I’m starting to feel like a bit of a slacker now… 😉 At SOE Live 2014, the community had questions and the devs had answers! ZAM was there to keep track of what everyone wanted to know. Afista has written a...
In the EverQuest II: Systems panel, the EverQuest II team talks about the upcoming expansion, specifically class balance, mechanics, some new features, and takes player questions. On the panel: Akil “Lyndro” Hooper, Kyle “Kander” Vallee, Michael “Xelgad” Ganz, Robert “Caith” Fouts, Dave “Maevianiu” Kish, Douglas “Endymion” VanDerveer, and Justin “Jamiss” Michael. We recorded this at SOE Live 2014 in Las Vegas and are happy to be able to share it. On YouTube:
We recorded the EverQuest II: Altar of Malice keynote, which included about seven minutes of Q&A at the end. We also recorded the EverQuest II Q&A #1 panel and we’ve assembled it into a single video. NOTE: Audio quality improves at 8:45 as we started using an external mic at this point.
There were some technical difficulties during the first 10 minutes of the EverQuest II: Altar of Malice keynote which was livestreamed from SOE Live last week. Instead of clearly hearing the producer and designers of our game hyping their hard work, audiences at home mostly heard frustrated AV techs trying to get things working. Fortunately, we recorded the keynote in person and are now able to provide the complete event for those who missed it!
Here are the slides presented by the EverQuest II team specifically the mechanics/systems guys. Akil “Lyndro” Hooper, Kyle “Kander” Vallee, Michael “Xelgad” Ganz, Robert “Caith” Fouts, Dave “Maevianiu” Kish, and Douglas “Endymion” VanDerveer were presenting.
Now it’s time for the EverQuest II Systems panel. Akil “Lyndro” Hooper, Kyle “Kander” Vallee, Michael “Xelgad” Ganz, Robert “Caith” Fouts, Dave “Maevianiu” Kish, and Douglas “Endymion” VanDerveer are presenting. We’re liveblogging this panel as well as recording a video of this panel in 720p HD. Liveblog begins at 1:00pm PDT and ends at 2:00pm PDT on Saturday August 16th. Fix for Stealth and AE Abilities New Spell Qualities All spells go to Grandmaster Certain spells go to Ancient Battleground 6v6 Balance of Theer Deathmatch Penalty for dying Tiles to stand on and get buffs/debuffs
We’ll be posting videos of the two EverQuest II Q&A panels next week, but here are some cool highlights that we got in yesterday’s panel. We’ll update this article tomorrow when the other Q&A is under our belt. Stored Gear Sets confirmed for @everquestii expansion. Save different gear sets. MT tank, off tank, or appearance. — EQ2Wire (@EQ2Wire) August 15, 2014 Wardrobe system for appearance gear next year? “Eats the items” #eq2 — EQ2Wire (@EQ2Wire) August 15, 2014 Wardrobe system would not use space in your #eq2 inventory. It becomes like a character flag. — EQ2Wire (@EQ2Wire)...
Now it’s time for the EverQuest II: Altar of Malice expansion panel with nearly the entire EQ2 team. We’re liveblogging as well as recording a video of this panel in 720p HD. This panel is also being livecast on Twitch. Liveblog began at 12:00pm PDT and ended at 1:00pm PDT on Friday August 15th. Holly “Windstalker” Longdale to the stage. Tim Heydalaar and Dave Brown to the stage. Showing PlayerStudio items.
Looks like Press gets a healthy headstart on posting expansion news for EverQuest and EverQuest II this year. After their private meetings with Dave “SmokeJumper” Georgeson and EQ2 Producer Holly “Windstalker” Longdale on Tuesday, they’ve had time to draft their articles and now, they’re available for all to read. My issue is, people at home have more information than those at SOE Live who may not yet have read these articles. Some Press sites (notably excluding Massively and ZAM) get a full boat ride from SOE, paying for hotel and sometimes even airfare, dinners, etc.). EQ2Wire covers EverQuest II all...

If you read EQ2Wire, can’t live without EQ2U, depend on Dragon’s Armory, or participate in the EQ2 Raid Council, come hang with us at Planet Dailies on Thursday afternoon at 4:00-pm-5:30pm before the Welcome Reception. Dethdlr, Feldon, Dedith, Kander, and Gninja will be in attendance. Time moved to 5:00-6:15pm because I’m a noob! We’ve updated our SOE Live Schedule App for Android, Windows phone, etc. It’s actually quite tricky to get the app to load its new data, as we designed it to not require an internet connection once it’s loaded. I suggest deleting the SOELive Daily app from your home screen and then visit http://dev.eq2wire.com/m/ on...

Due to Planet Hollywood’s busy schedule and our busy event schedule these 2 events unfortunately fell on the same weekend. Amnerys has posted an announcement on the EQ2 forums about exclusive items which SOE Live attendees will receive. It’s being presented in a rather peculiar way as a “$35 Loot Card” but really, it’s just a way of allowing SOE attendees to get the in-game rewards on the account they want, plus we’ll be able to buy these loot cards for friends. For in-game item for EQ2 players is a 66-slot bag with a Tears of Veeshan appearance. No word on whether we’ll get the EQ and EQ2 expansions for going to Vegas this year. According to the letter...
SOE Live Schedule for iPhone/iPad If you are an iPhone/iPad user and attending SOE Live, then you’ll want to head to the App Store to download Greg “Rothgar” Spence‘s SOE Live Schedule app. Greg developed this iOS app four years ago and, in his extremely limited spare time has maintained it every year for SOE Live. This year, Josh “Autenil” Kriegshauser chipped in to get it updated. The SOE Live schedule app has a “My Schedule” feature which lets you choose which panels should appear on your schedule, as well as tabs about Dining, News, and Travel. SOE Live Schedule for Android, Windows Phone,...

AT&T Service @ SOE Live Fantastic news for SOE Live attendees who were hoping to blog/text/email/tweet/facebook without having to run out to the hallway every time. This news comes via Brasse: Cell reception at #SOELive – Planet Hollywood has just upgraded their AT&T service throughout the hotel – LET’S TEST IT OUT! — Brasse (@Brasse) July 31, 2014 Shirts Meanwhile, it looks like JiNX may have had babydolls in mind when they sized their women’s shirts for SOE Live as their women’s 2X this year is dwarfed by this year’s men’s XL: @Brasse Good to hear. This picture shows a...
Linda “Brasse” Carlson has taken to Facebook to provide an update on some key points regarding this year’s SOE Live event in Las Vegas. Confirmed: increased area of grand ballroom to accommodate 150 more Premium Passes. We will sell tickets online right up to event time (unless we sell out). Confirmed: hotel has “increased nodes” in ballroom in an attempt to improve smart phone access – to be tested at the event! Initial tests by staff are positive, but huge numbers of people do weird things to cell reception. Confirmed: Player Got Talent auditions to be accepted SOON –...
Just in time for the last day of early bird SOE Live 2014 registration, the Official Schedule (minus Player Panels) has been posted! Realize that the schedule is subject to change. You may recall that the Events team moved heaven and earth last year to make sure that EQ, EQN/EQNL, and EQ2 had as few conflicts as possible with each other and panel panels. So as of June 30, 2014, here are your tracks… Selected “Everyone” Stuff Thu @ 7:00-9:00pm – Welcome Reception and Keynote Fri @ 8:00-11:30pm – Zombie Prom Party Sat @ 10:00am – Geek Out with SOE...
From Colette “Dexella” Murphy on the EQ2 Forums: Today is Monday, June 30, 2014. That means we’re only 45 Days away from this year’s SOE Live! Have you bought your passes yet? If you haven’t, here are the top 5 reasons you want to buy your pass TODAY. #5 – It’s a good deal! Right now, the Premium Pass to SOE Live is $149 for the entire weekend.
