We recently saw the end of paying EQ2 subscriptions with StationCash (which, due to triple SC weekends and 50% off sales, allowed players to buy a YEAR’S EQ2 subscription for $14.99 — or an EQ2 sub for as little as $1.25 a month). On August 29th, the ability to buy EQ2 expansions for StationCash will similarly come to an end. With various promotions, it was possible to buy an EQ2 expansion normally retailing for $39.95 for as little as $6.65. SOE is providing this upcoming weekend as a grace period to buy expansions for 50% off with StationCash. The...

Over the last five years, SOE’s Fan Faire player gathering has braved the unforgiving glare of the Las Vegas desert during its hottest months. This year, the event has a new name, and will be graced with cooler temperatures. SOE Live returns to the familiar Bally’s Casino Hotel but this time, the event will be knocking on Halloween’s door with its October 18-21st weekend. News of SOE Live tickets going on sale got a bit lost in the shuffle during our extended server migration, but we’re back, and Las Vegas is the city that never sleeps.

EQ2 ZAM has reported on an e-mail correspondence which some European players have received about the upcoming changeover. Their article on the subject: Earlier this year Sony Online Entertainment announced their partnership with ProSiebenSat.1 to distribute SOE games in Europe. Today Eurpoean Everquest II players woke to an email announcing that the EQII PSS.1 transition will be starting in 30-60 days. The letter details the countries effected and the finer points of the processs for non-recurring memberships and All Access accounts. A translation of the letter can be found below. We also reccommend the ProSiebenSat.1 Games Group FAQ on...
One month ago (May 20th, 2012), SOE offered a 50% Rebate on the entire StationCash Marketplace. When compounded with Triple StationCash weekends and Walmart 500SC Bonus cards, this meant $15 could buy one year’s EQ2 subscription. On June 8th, EQ2 Subscriptions vanished from the StationCash Marketplace. After an outcry, SOE President John Smedley stepped in and admitted that the pricing of EQ2 Subscriptions was being impacted by various SC discounts and sales, and then announced that EQ2 Subscriptions would be restored to the Marketplace for a one week grace period so players who wanted to fund EQ2 Subscriptions with...

SOE President John Smedley has personally addressed the removal of EQ2 Subscriptions from the StationCash Marketplace: Quick note – I’m sorry we didn’t do a good job of messaging this. It was handled while we were at E3 and that was bad. Very simply put we pulled the non-recurring subscriptions because we want a closer look at the numbers and how our overall pricing of subscriptions is impacted by it. I don’t want anyone thinking they were pulled because of double DC promotions or anything like that. We know what we’re getting into when we run those promotions. We’ve...
UPDATE According to SOE President John Smedley, EQ2 Subscriptions will reappear on the Marketplace for 1 week to allow players to buy their subscriptions. EverQuest 2 subscriptions unceremoniously disappeared from the StationCash marketplace yesterday, and players have had plenty to say on the subject. The removal was not unanticipated, but doing so without advanced warning, an announcement, or even an acknowledgment, is yet another betrayal of player’s trust in SOE.
This weekend, if you redeem $15 StationCash cards, you will be credited with 1,500SC plus 500SC bonus, for a total of 2,000SC. This works out to a 33% bonus — or if you prefer, a 25% discount. After Double and Triple StationCash weekends, 50% off sales, and Rebates, it will be interesting to see how much pent up demand is satisfied with the relatively meager discount this go-around.
From Brasse on the EQ2 Forums: Reporting in here to say that Cyliena is right, we have the PR managing the elite infoz. =) I did look into it for you though. PR says that due to unforseen circumstances, the infoz in question will be delayed by a day or two. You guys are also correct that it involves our presence at E3. Can’t sneak anything past you! Unfortunately, I cannot offer any further information, other than I think that you may enjoy what’s coming. I can positively, absolutely rule out any major announcements about EQ Next. That game...

From EverQuest2.com: In our last in-game poll, we asked players what they thought of us selling health, power, and self-rez potions for solo, group, and raid players. The results are in! Overall, for all items, there was an average of 65% support for the solo versions in all three categories (and, in fact, there was only a minor variance in the percentages for each item). Group and Raid items averaged at 55%. As we saw with the EQ2X (Freeport) server, where we sold similar items, these types of items help the solo player have fun while adventuring alone. We...

As players learned last week in an e-mail from SOE, DC Universe Online is now 30-60 days from transitioning its European customers from SOE/Station accounts to Pro7Sat.1 accounts: An exciting time in SOE history has arrived and we are very pleased to be celebrating it with you, some of the most passionate DC Universe Online fans! As many of you know, SOE has partnered with ProSiebenSat.1 Games to provide and market eight of its games to players in Europe, including EverQuest® II, DC Universe™ Online, Free Realms®, Star Wars®: Clone Wars Adventures™, Magic: The Gathering – Tactics, and PoxNora®,...
UPDATE from Piestro: The potions were put in on accident and quickly removed. If we do decide to reintroduce consumables we’ll certainly mention it. Taking a page from Disney, SOE placed certain StationCash Marketplace items on hiatus a while back into a so-called “Brell Serilis vault“. This type of scheduled demand is intended to drive sales and create pent-up demand when said items are returned to the market. An example is the Prowler mounts first introduced just over 2 years ago. We paid little attention to the unlocking of the vault announcement as SOE already does a fine job...
I received an e-mail from SOE at 12:15am PST this morning notifying players that today is a Triple StationCash day. SOE really has this providing as little advance notice as possible thing down to a science. You can also read this late-day announcement at EverQuest2.com. We’re going to assume, since it was not said otherwise, that this applies to all StationCash purchased in-game, at SOE.com, or with game cards in Europe, the USA, and now in Canada. Remember, Wal-Mart bonus cards are 1500SC plus 500SC which triples to 6000SC. Not bad for $15. You can get a year’s EQ2...
From Piestro on the EQ2 Forums: On Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 5 AM London Time the Splitpaw server will come down for Game Update 63: Skyshrine. Expected downtime is approximately 5 hours. We haven’t heard of “London Time”, and we’re not sure why only the Splitpaw server is mentioned. Maybe Piestro meant to say: On Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 5:00 British Summer Time (6:00 Central Europe Time) the Splitpaw, Storms, and Valor servers will come down for Game Update 63: Skyshrine. Expected downtime is approximately 5 hours. We apologize for patching the European servers nearly a full...
