The requests for player feedback into the Time-Locked Expansion servers keep rolling. This time, we’ve been asked which encounters that have been changed over the years from Heroic or Epic mobs that should be changed back to something with more teeth! From Caith on the EQ2 Forums: What mobs would you like to see returned to heroic (or epic) status in the original game zones for the Time-Locked servers. Example Antonica – Scarecrows
Feldon
Kander has started two threads on the EQ2 Forums asking players to suggest names for the new TLE servers: Name Your PvP Server Name Your PvE Server Here’s the announcement: What do you want your PvP/PvE TLE-Server to be named? Propose the names you’d like to see for the launch of the Time Locked Expansion Server for PvP/PvE. We will be keeping score and using the top names to poll for final names so post even if your’s is a duplicate. Names must be something within the lore of the EverQuest world. Preferably a notable NPC. Anything that is not...
Next month, we’ll see two new Beta servers open to test PvP and PvE Time-Locked Expansion (TLE) Servers. While we’ve already been informed on several occasions that restoring the EQ2 codebase back to a launch or near-launch state would be nearly impossible, but the EQ2 team want to offer players some of the “uphill both ways in the snow” experience that early EQ2 adventurers encountered. So the team are developing Time-Locked Expansion Servers which will be a sort of hybrid of some of the modern conveniences we have now, but with certain design decisions reverted or changed to provide more challenge...
Legendary actor Sir Christopher Lee passed just over one week ago. To recognize his contributions to EverQuest II, specifically his voicing of Lucan D’Lere, Overlord of Freeport, Daybreak Games shared a brief interview clip recorded in 2004.
UPDATE from Windstalker as of 10am PDT: Servers are coming up for #EQ2! And earlier: ETA for #EQ2 servers is 10am currently. There was an issue staging the data. Hamsters are on full burn. Original article after the jump…

Ossuary: Cathedral of Bones [Raid] Villadre’s adds should now despawn when she resets or is defeated. ABILITIES Consistent Strike and Consistent Smite will now do damage at low levels. From Holly “Windstalker” Longdale on the EQ2 Forums: Greetings Norrath! I want to address questions around concerns with lower-population servers. First, as a community-focused team, we’re listening to feedback and we want to tackle population health issues on some servers. After we launch the two new Time-Locked Expansion (TLE) servers, we will proceed with creating a merge process for the US servers that need it most. We hope to start doing merges within the next few months. We’ll give you specific dates as we get closer. This is very challenging work that will branch off from our Cross-Server Dungeon...
With the success of EverQuest’s recently launched Ragefire progression server, the idea of something similar in EverQuest II seems to have magically gone from “probably not” and “extremely unlikely” to “We’re doing it!” Perhaps it’s just a coincidence, but last week, EQ/EQ2 Executive Producer Holly “Windstalker” Longdale surprised the hell out of everyone by announcing that PvP and PvE Time-Locked Expansion Beta servers (Yes that’s plural!) were coming to EverQuest II. How soon you might ask Kander? Sooner than you think. /wink Ok really… How soon? Its coming sooner than you think. Announcements are being trained to zone… Holly “Windstalker”...
A new quest is now available for testing and feedback on the Test server. From Kaitheel on the EQ2 Forums: Erollisi Marr is ready to join the pantheon of deities to be worshiped on Test! There has been no public announcement as to when this content is going to go live, but we’ve got some time to get any bugs ironed out. Speak with Sister Leela Prendyn in New Halas to get started. May the Loving Huntress bless your travels! Please post any feedback and bugs in this thread. ~ Kaitheel We’d previously heard last summer that Erollisi Marr...
From the EQ2 Forums: ITEMS The description for Allied Energy II now correctly lists the maximum increase of 115. Ethereal Weapons will now drop much more commonly. Ethereal drop rate is going to be fixed this time. We promise!
Defying predictions of an inevitable crunch, Gaming and Technology have continued to grow at an exponential rate over the last two decades. Profits from desktop, console, and mobile gaming have eclipsed Hollywood Film and Television revenue. Long-gestating VR/hologram technology has finally matured to a point where consumer hardware is just around the corner which will bring an entirely new paradigm for gaming in the next 5 to 10 years. Since Ultima Online and EverQuest stormed onto the scene, subsequent Massively Multiplayer Online RPGs have in many ways evolved and in many others closely echoed the winning formula of big...
From the EQ2 Forums: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION F.S. Distillery: Stowaways [Event Heroic] and [Challenge] The curable version of Supply Chain will no longer target mercenaries. MERCENARIES Lady Gretta Cheroon should now be a female when casting illusions on her. and from Kander on the EQ2 Forums: Guys, there is an issue with the Ethereal weapons. Yes, they are dropping but no, its not correctly. This should be correctly dropping tomorrow morning. and from Holly “Windstalker” Longdale‘s twitter: Morning update for #EQ2 tomorrow. We'll be increasing the drop rates of the summer ethereal weapons. — Holly Longdale (@TheWindstalker) June...

From EQ and EQ2 Executive Producer Holly “Windstalker” Longdale on the EQ2 Forums: What’s Up for EQII? We have a lot in store for our intrepid Everquest II players. We’re excited to be discussing the launch of two new Time-Locked Expansion Servers for PvE and PvP sometime this year. Along with that, the team is moving forward with a strategy of treating our players as real gamers who don’t need to be handheld for everything they do. What this means is we feel we need to trust our players to learn and achieve things without us having to give...
From the EQ2 Forums: Pirates are SO in right now! Here’s the Rum Cellar-themed items that have sailed into the harbor with the recent update. The atmosphere of the Rum Runners Cove Prestige House is perfect location for a relaxing topical getaway or a rowdy hangout for your favorite privateers.
Today Robert “Caith” Fouts, Nathan “Kaitheel” McCall, and Kyle “Kander” Vallee were joined by EQ2 Community Manager Ry “Roshen” Schuller to talk about upcoming changes in this fall’s expansion-sized Campaign, or as the EQ2 team has been calling — the Campansion. Here are my rough notes, subject to my interpretation and these are mostly not direct quotes. Any mistakes are my own! Amplifying Infusing Players have be able to upgrade armor through Gems and adding Essences to change the Damage type on Weapons. However this has been very limited as it requires the devs to create hundreds of items...

With the Altar of Malice expansion and its related Signature quest, players earned the unlimited ability to safely break off adornments from their gear without destroying either the items or the adornments. However there was a catch! All adornments returned — whether from this quested Ability OR from the crafted Adornment Dislodgers — became NO TRADE. Feedback on this choice has continued at a dull roar and it looks like we can expect some more flexibility… From Kander on the EQ2 Forums: We’re going to change it so that it now returns heirloom instead of no trade. Look for...

Today marked the launch of EverQuest’s newest time-locked Progression server, Ragefire. This server adopts many if not all of the designs and rules of the game as it existed at launch in 1999. According to reports on twitter, things have not all gone according to plan as players quickly reached high levels and other glitches. Regardless, the idea of progression servers reinforces the idea that nostalgia doesn’t fade away when brought into the light. In celebration of the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night kickstarter, I re-played Castlevania: Symphony of the Night through to 200.6% completion for the third time...
