From the EQ2 Forums: WEEKLY FEATURE The first round of Battlegrounds matchmaker fixes is live! Teams will now be more fair numbers wise. No more 24 reds against 3 blues! NOTE: teams could be a little off if not everyone picked to be on your team accepts the match. However, backfills will go to the lowest team first so as more people queue to fill in the backfills it will work to even up the teams. The getting dropped into Champion’s Respite instead of going straight to your match from your home server is still not fixed. If you...

It’s hard to believe this will be EQ2Wire’s seventh Fan Faire nee SOE Live. And it’s hard to believe that this will be our third year presenting a player panel on EQ2U and Data Feeds (Census) in general. Talking to players before and after the panel, and presenting what we’ve been working on, is certainly the highlight of the event for me. If you will be at SOE Live and have ever had your own idea for what kind of player panel, put your name in the hat and you might just get to do your own panel! From...

A growing number of players have reported “Socket error-unreachable (11004)” errors when running the EverQuest II or other SOE game launchpads, and there seems to be a common cause for many of them. As discussed in this thread, antivirus software from McAfee, Avira, and the notoriously inept Norton/Symantec (who recently admitted that their software is ineffective), as well as certain Firewall software have all caused this issue. Before you open a Support Ticket, please make sure your LAN Settings look like the screenshot below and do not have a Proxy set (jump to SOE’s official Knowledgebase article): Also ensure that any Firewall software you have installed...

From Bunji POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Temple of Veeshan: Dreadscale’s Maw The spell “Pressing Luck” should no longer grow based on the number of players it hits. Instead it should grow based on the number of times it hits each player respectively.
For the third time in two days, the EQ2 servers are going down, this time for an emergency fix of some sort. It’s been called a hotfix, but we all know that a hotfix means no interruption of service. This is a cold fix. Here are the update notes for this afternoon (4pm PDT) fix which include an exploit fix: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Temple of Veeshan: Dreadscale’s Maw Prismatic Touch should now trigger off heals as well if not protected by a fully leveled Tear of Veeshan green adornment. For the last eight hours or so, players on EU servers including Storms, Valor, and Splitpaw, have been unable to login to EQ2 as they receive this message: Login Rejected:The Clients version does not match the Servers. please rerun the patcher. The issue seems to have been caused by the game Launchpad receiving updated files (via a Manifest file) hours before the Server has been patched. This Manifest file is supposed to be updated only after the game server is ready for the updated client. This has nothing to do with ProSieben and originates with Ops/Platform at SOE HQ. We...
From the EQ2 Forums: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Temple of Veeshan: The Dreadscale’s Maw Zoning a raid force into the zone should no longer put players into their own separate instances. Izshrah’Khar: Stratum of the Protectors Shazzak now only spawns five Fragments per phase in order to address an issue that was causing certain characters to crash to character select. The Fragments’ damage has been increased to compensate for fewer Fragments. ITEMS Experience gain on the Tear of Veeshan Spiritstones [ed. note — green adornments] has been tripled.

Everything about last year’s SOE Live was bigger — the crowds, the announcements, the lines! Ok, so that last one was a bummer, but while we’re hoping the player turnout and announcements stay big, the lines have thankfully been nerfed!! Sign up for SOE Live by May 12th and not only do you get a discounted rate ($129 for the entire weekend), but your badge will be mailed out to you well in advance, so the only thing you have to wait for when you walk out onto the Mezzanine is the inspiration to choose which game developers, artists,...

Editor’s Note: Update Notes from one month ago were accidentally posted today. The responsible party has received 40 lashes with a wet noodle.
Last night, EQ2 Community Manager Luperza posted: Hi everyone! Looks like most of the issues have been resolved! If you go to your SOE Account management page by going to https://www.soe.com/home > My Account >Membership Info, you should be able to see all the information needed as well as when you can claim your next 500 SC. Let me know if there’s anything that is still not working for you! This was naturally followed up by 3 pages (so far) of players still reporting issues in Europe, or on comped/lifetime subscriptions from game contests years ago, or players who used to...
From the EQ2 Forums: Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve matters surrounding the launch of SOE’s new All Access Membership – read all about it at this link! The implementation of this new membership plan across SOE’s game portfolio has been one of the most complicated updates to our billing system to date. As fellow gamers, we know that this has been frustrating and we sincerely regret any inconvenience this has caused. We’re working around the clock to ensure these account issues are resolved as quickly as possible. In the meantime, to show our appreciation for...
From the EQ2 Forums: For the last several months we’ve been working hard to update the Player Studio program with a number of improvements that will simplify and expedite the overall registration process, and will allow international players from select regions and territories to participate. This work has progressed well, but it’s a complicated initiative and there are still a few outstanding components to finalize to ensure we get this 100% right. Initially, we hoped to expand Player Studio to Canada, France, Germany and the United Kingdom on or before May 1, but given the intricacy of the program and...
Looks like we can expect the Fabled Kingdom of Sky zones to be rounded out with Deathtoll some time this year. From Tuesday’s EQ2 Dev Team Ask Me Almost Anything… Q: “I have heard rumors about a fabled deathtoll, which I know you cant confirm or deny.” A: “RUMORS! You’re right. The design team is working on a fabled version of Deathtoll. :)” and for those who want to put 2 and 2 together about Deathtoll being this year… We won’t be doing a big Fabled release again this year, but at least one dungeon will be released. Further...
Looks like an undocumented change with this week’s All Access rollout is causing players with ProfitUI and DrumsUI to crash on launch. The interim solution is to remove or rename the file \EverQuest II\UI\EQ2MAP\eq2ui_mainhud_welcome.xml.
