Within the same time window as tomorrow’s content update, there will be a maintenance window as well. From the EQ2 Forums: Important: We will perform maintenance beginning at 6:00 AM Pacific on February 26, 2013. We expect this maintenance to take approximately 2 hours. This will impact the following services: Account management will be unavailable. Commerce transactions, including purchases on our websites and in-game marketplaces will be unavailable. Login for all SOE forums may be affected, you may lose permissions and experience occasional disconnects. Players who are already logged in may be disconnected and unable to log back in....

From the EQ2 Forums: The update on February 26th was discussed in Podcast #143, as well as in articles about the PvP Updates and Bag Sorting Abilities. Now, it’s time to take a look at two more major features that round out the update: new raid content and guild achievements! X2 and X4 Raids
As part of SOE’s very public efforts to stop cheating in PlanetSide 2, SOE is instituting more detection code into its Launchpad to try to stop troublemakers. Apparently some of this code has not been isolated to PS2 as a number of players of SOE games including EverQuest, EverQuest II, and Wizardry Online have all found themselves having trouble logging in. The culprit? A popular virtualization software called VMWare which allows PC users to run more than one instance of Windows (for keeping work and play separate, or for running multiple game instances), or in the case of Mac...
image courtesy Suzita Star Shadow Are your bags out of control? Do you spend hours each week just sorting your inventory? Next week, we’ll be getting some tools which will greatly facilitate this drudgery. From EverQuest2.com: Colette “Dexella” Murphy talks with Kenneth “Terrogaunt” Roecks about the new inventory abilities that will be launched with the update! Colette “Dexella” Murphy: Players have already heard a little bit about bag sorting during the Podcast, but let’s recap. How does the new bag sorting feature work? Kenneth “Terrogaunt” Roecks: The sorting process is essentially grabbing all of the items from your inventory and...

From the EQ2 Forums: GENERAL The Legends o Norrath store should be functioning properly again. Fixed an issue where false duplicates of items could appear in the claim window. ZONE PROGRESSION Harrow’s End [Raid] Fixed a zone crash that could happen when a raid force wiped to Drinal.
Although we’ve already been advised that the era of “Pre-Adorned Items” isn’t coming to an end any time soon, we can look forward to a new vendor being added next week in Game Update 65.5 which will allow us to purchase some of the more run-of-the-mill Red and Yellow Adornments for [eq2u]Obol[/eq2u] and [eq2u]Greater Spirit[/eq2u]. Greater Spirits -> Obols If you happen to have an abundance of [eq2u]Greater Spirit[/eq2u] but are running short on [eq2u]Obol[/eq2u], you’ll be able to trade them in. A [eq2u]Crate of Obols[/eq2u] will also cost 7p and 1 Greater Spirit in exchange for 18 Obols....
As posted by Praetorian, owner of the Raid strategy discussion site EQ-Raiders, on the EQ2 Forums: It is now official that EQ-Raiders will be hosting a brand new Raid Guild Progression website. This new website will have both manual kill submissions (For guilds that fall out of the realm of accurate auto-updaters) as well as automated kill verification updates through a unique RaidHub interface being created by Mecrab, the author of RaidHub. The website is being designed and coded by Mecrab and should be launching this weekend. RaidHub will not be required by any means but with the added...
Holly “Windstalker” Longdale has posted on the EQ2 Forums: Hello again intrepid Norrathians, We are inching closer to our February 26 Update and we have some news to share. In my Producer Letter in our forums on Feb. 5, I listed the features we had planned for our Feb. 26 update. One of them I referred to as a Loyalty Program that centered around daily, weekly, and monthly objectives. We have been working on the feature and don’t feel it’s up to snuff yet. We want more time for testing, feedback, and iteration to ensure it’s fun. That in...
I had every confidence that Player Studio would demonstrate the creativity and artistic talent of EQ2 players, but I continue to be impressed by what is being approved and added on an almost weekly basis. From EverQuest2.com: Four new cloaks created by a player — Lyranny — are now available in the Marketplace! Halasian Wolfskin Cloak (Top Left) Erollisi Courter’s Cloak (Top Right) Golden Sun Cloak (Bottom Left) Halasian Loyalist’s Cloak (Bottom Right)
From EverQuest2.com: A mini-game update is coming on Tuesday, February 26. Included in this update are a number of tweaks, changes, and updates coming to PvP! Colette “Dexella” Murphy chatted with Brian “Omougi” Ferguson about what players will see and experience after the update. Colette “Dexella” Murphy: In her Producer’s Letter, Holly “Windstalker” Longdale mentioned new blue adornments. How will these blue adornments work? How will they differ from other adornments? Brian “Omougi” Ferguson: We are adding blue adornment slots to Imperial PVP charms, necklaces, cloaks, belts, and weapons. New blue adornments to fill these slots will be available for...
I expected fierce responses to yesterday’s article about Drinal and the issues raiders have been facing in Harrow’s End. I wrote about issues that players have faced since the expansion launched, with a focus on the issues that still seem to exist based on player reports in the two Drinal threads I linked on the EQ2 forums. It was absolutely my intention to push some buttons and try to get some traction on fixing the Boss of the Chains of Eternity expansion. As to whether I went too far, that will be up to the reader. Let’s get some...
UPDATE from Gninja on February 21, 2013: Yes the crash is still happening though it seems to happen a bit less often we will check the logs in the morning and see what we can find. From the EQ2 Forums: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Wurmbone Crag [Advanced Solo] Using the portal on the final boss platform should no longer teleport players under the world. Harrow‘s End [Heoric] Players should no longer become gated if they kill FItzpitzle extremely fast. Harrow’s End [Raid] and Sleeper’s Tomb [Raid] Fixed some issues that could cause these zones to crash. ABILITIES / ALTERNATE...
Enough is enough. It has been three full months since the launch of the Chains of Eternity expansion and the bosses of the expansion are hopelessly broken. During the Chains of Eternity beta, there were warning signs that something was seriously amiss. On one hand, the Skyshrine and Chains of Eternity raiding ended up being so easy that the top 10-15 guilds per server had cleared nearly ALL the content within 48-72 hours of release. On the other hand, Drinal launched essentially unkillable. Not challenging. Not difficult. Broken.
From Holly “Windstalker” Longdale‘s twitter: I’m excited to announce we’ll be updating the hardware on the Russian Harla Dar server on Thursday, 5 pm PST (estimated at 3 hrs) ! #EQ2 — Holly Longdale (@WindstalkerEQ2) February 13, 2013 We are working on the hardware upgrade for Harla Dar. The goal is by end of next week without a snafu. I will keep you posted! #EQ2 — Holly Longdale (@WindstalkerEQ2) February 12, 2013
From the EQ2 Forums: GENERAL Fixed an issue where NPC death animations would not play correctly. POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Harrow‘s End Fixed an issue that was caused by players reviving before the encounter tried to teleport them out of the room. Befallen: Cavern of the Afflicted and Royal Palace ofErudin Respawning NPCs in these zones will no longer give out XP, treasure loot, or corpse loot. Wurmbone’s End [Advanced Solo] Necromunger Garrkk’s adds come...
As some of you have no doubt noticed, EQ2U has had some performance issues lately. Usually these outages have been short-lived but last night, EQ2 data updates stopped around 8:15pm last night and only sporadically worked today. According to a recent tweet from John Smedley, PlanetSide 2 will soon be launching its own twice-delayed API service which will enable player-driven PS2 sites just as the EQ2 Data Feeds have enabled EQ2U and other sites. Hopefully they’re just working out the kinks and things will work themselves out over the next few days. Just in the last hour we’ve seen...
UPDATE: This article has been corrected to state that this is not Game Update 66, which is expected later this spring, but a mini-update which is internally being called Game Update 65.5. From Holly “Windstalker” Longdale, Senior Producer of EverQuest II on the EQ2 Forums comes news of a game update which we can expect on February 26th, 2013. Greetings Norrath! If you’ve been flopping, leashing, or feign deathing past the second and third-from-last named encounters in Wurmbone’s End [Advanced Solo] to save time on your way to the boss of the zone, you’ll be seeing a change today. Now, you must kill at least 2 names before the final named will spawn. The popularity of this zone, specifically the last named (Prime Magnate Mrelg), derived from the fact that, when allowed to go into Challenge mode (by not clicking on his smoky “breath”), he drops three loot chests when killed. This was not an unexpected change. The bigger inconvenience/bummer...
From the EQ2 Forums: GENERAL Fixed an issue with casting bars on heroic and raid enemies. ITEMS Fixed a bug where Will of Thorns proc could work in reverse. [eq2u]Fist of the Unrivaled[/eq2u] now has 18% Block Chance. [eq2u]Torque of Soulful Revival[/eq2u] now gets melee benefits from its effect rather than caster benefits. The effect Eternal Damnation now supplies strength and agility in its effect. Resolution of Heated Battle can now trigger when using combat arts. [eq2u]Necklace of Isabella’s Flame[/eq2u]: This item’s passive effect now grants caster stats as opposed to melee stats.

After 2 weeks in Miami, it seems Drinal has returned to the Ethernere for more afterlife mayhem. From the EQ2 Forums: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Harrow‘s End (Raid) Targets marked with Transfiguration by Drinal should no longer be affected by Exhaustive Souldrain. POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Chardok Queen Velazul will no longer reset if attempted without a group. Wurmbone Crag Greatly reduced the HP on Errlik the Bludgeoner’s gnorgers. His gnorger that casts the Doom Tooth fear is now labeled as “a dooming gnorger” for priority killing. ABILITIES / ALTERNATE ADVANCEMENT Sorcerer Sanguine Sacrifice should now apply reliably. GUILD HALL AMENITIES Transport The Magic Carpet to Norrath now includes the Great Divide and Jarsath Wastes destinations. TRADESKILLS Level 91, 93, and 95...
A number of players are reporting that their EverQuest II launchpad is trying to re-download the entire 14GB game. Some suggestions: Close and reopen the Launchpad. Click the Tools icon on the lower left of the Launchpad and choose a Full File Scan Validate Game Assets. If all else fails, close the Launchpad, navigate to your EverQuest II install directory and run the EverQuest2.exe application directly. There is no patch today and certainly no reason to re-download gigabytes of the game you already have. Update: We are aware of the issues with LaunchPad and are actively working on a...
