It looks like a further exploit has been discovered in Dungeon Maker with regards to Rewards and/or XP. One such issue, specifically a certain debuff item that could be placed in Dungeon Maker dungeons to reduce the hitpoints of surrounding enemies, was corrected this morning. The EQ2 Forums are failing to load, but the announcement indicates that Dungeon Maker rewards and XP have been disabled for the time being until an issue with them can be addressed. Hi Everyone, Due to some issues that have been reported with Dungeon Maker, the tokens and XP are currently disabled (set to...
Game Updates & Maintenance
From the EQ2 Forums: DUNGEON MAKER Corrected an issue that caused some buff objects in Dungeon Maker to reduce NPCs hit points by too much. POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Withered Lands Daerlina and Swampmaw will now return to battle more frequently after a defeat. Plane of War x4 Raid Commander Goreslaughter and Corpsemaul – The diaku war riders will spawn near commander goreslaughter instead of on top of random players. Commander Corpsemaul no longer has Unbridled Fury of the Shadows. Mauler’s Affliction no longer interrupts casting. QUESTS The quest “Etch the Stone” is now properly repeatable.
It’s time for another in-game poll for EQ2 players. The two questions in this month’s poll address the recent Game Update 63: Skyshrine content as well as the upcoming Game Update 64: Qeynos Reborn. None of the questions touch on the quality or content of the question, only asking players to identify what content they have or have not been playing. NOTE: As mentioned in the past, only the first poll entry for each account is measured. After the jump, we provide the questions for posterity’s sake…
Want to give the Game Update 64 Battlegrounds changes, including Level Agnostic Battlegrounds a test drive and give useful feedback to developers? From EQ2 Community Manager Duxella on the EQ2 Forums: Level Agnostic Battleground testing from 5-7 PST – bring a character below level 35 to the Level Agnostic buffer, set up your character and then get into a battleground! Buffers will be located on the docks in Kylong Plains, and at the Champion’s Respite zone-ins in Qeynos and Freeport. Level 92 testing from 7-8 PST – visit a level 92 PVP buffer, set up your character and then...
In an encouraging post, EverQuest2.com today introduced five new and recently joined members of the EverQuest 2 development and design teams. Abby “Ahma” Watt is perhaps best known for her work with the Data Feeds API which powers such sites as EQ2Players and EQ2U. She has now stepped into the role of EverQuest II’s Associate Producer. Chris “Chrol” Garlick is an Associate Game Designer, so far filling whatever role has been needed in adding and polishing game content. Kenneth “Terrogaunt” Roecks has quickly earned a name for himself by adding the oft-requested Auto-attack Setting, Quest Target icons which highlight...
Play As Your Own Character was released on live servers yesterday, allowing you to zone into Dungeon Maker dungeons with your own characters, rather than DM avatars, but somehow this feature didn’t make it to the Storms and Valor servers. According to Bunji this is now being remedied: We’re looking into the issue where ‘play as yourself’ is not working on international servers. and at 3pm: International patchers are being updated (pushing out the missing file). I’ll reply when it’s done. Yesterday’s Dungeon Maker News also included some new items that can be bought (or earned) and placed in...
From the EQ2 Forums: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Plane of War x4 Raid Commander Goreslaughter and Corpsemaul – The Toll of War curse that each commander casts will not have any variance to its timing. The curse will show preference to non fighters who are within a reasonable distance of the commander who is casting. If no non fighter targets are available, fighters may still be cursed. Withered Lands Hexapola should now drop more than one item when killed.
First mentioned by SmokeJumper shortly after the Age of Discovery expansion was released, SOE has now introduced the ability to Play as Yourself in player-made Dungeon Maker dungeons. The secret is an advanced auto-mentoring system which allows for Level Agnostic play. That functionality will also roll out this month with a revamp to Battlegrounds that brings players of different tiers together. We have commented in the past on the extreme limitations of designing Dungeon Maker content, which rarely rises above placing enemies strategically and hoping for the best, but being able to play as your own character instead of...
From the EQ2 Forums: DUNGEON MAKER You can now play as your character in Dungeon Maker dungeons! Furthermore these dungeons are “Level Agnostic” meaning that anyone of any level can group together and do them together! While the dungeons will be a bit more difficult for a lower level character than a higher level character, they will still be able to play together. POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Skyshrine: Betrayal in the Underdepths In the challenge mode Dozekar fight the Magmatic Elemental and infernal assassin adds will not spawn as frequently as before.

Niami Denmother, maven of the irreplaceable EQ2Traders, sat down for an interview with Eric “Piestro” Cleaver about EQ2 tradeskills and Game Update 63. The interview can be found on the EQ2 forums: With tradeskills being a frequent topic of conversation around the forums, and an area of EQII that I find especially fascinating, I decided to have a chat with EQTraders.com?s very own Niami Denmother to find out a little bit more about tradeskills and what makes her tick. Piestro: What got you interested in tradeskills in MMOs? Niami: I was invited to the final phase of beta for...
From the EQ2 Forums: GENERAL Updated Awesomium browser files to fix some compatibility issues. Fixed potential crash on exit. POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Plane of War x4 Raid Commander Goreslaughter and Corpsemaul ? The crystals of death and destruction now have unique appearances and spawn close to the commanders, in 2 sets of 2. There are only 3 diaku war riders per wave and they no longer knockback.
For those preferring a more descriptive rendition of just what we can expect in the upcoming Game Update 64 (previously presented as a bullet point list), Holly “Windstalker” Longdale has posted the July Update Plans for EQ2 which largely mirror what we know about GU64. From the EQ2 Forums: Summer is finally here and the team is toiling away! We’ve got a few new faces added to the team and we’re going to introduce them with some awesome headshots. On to what we’re working on… QEYNOS RISES JULY 24 The new Qeynos is rife with intrigue and conflict as...
Buried in the update notes for the forthcoming Game Update 64 (and reiterated in the GU64 Webcast) was an interesting detail: Elemental, Noxious, and Arcane Resists would be folded into player-selected Character Traits, but Physical Mitigation would not. These days, most players select Physical Mitigation as a Character Trait choice rather than Resists. Physical Mitigation usually works out to be a better bang for your buck. Further, a number of players have already reached the hard limit on resists and so don’t benefit from it at all. So the idea that players would login after Game Update 64 and...
Game Update 64 “Qeynos Rises” has arrived on Test and Test Copy and the Notes for this update have been posted on the EQ2 forums. GU64 is expected to hang around on Test for about a month before going to the Live servers. Among a number of other changes, GU64 sees Qeynos rebuilt as two zones. North and South Qeynos become the Capital District, Elddar Grove and Qeynos Harbor become the Provinces. Changes to Battlegrounds, PvP, and Fighters are all headlines, with the curious change that Plane of War has been opened to all.
From the EQ2 Forums: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Halas and Darklight Wood Newbie experiences in New Halas and Neriak have been updated to make them more rewarding and fun. Neriak’s Darklight Wood got a much-needed art overhaul which adds to the ambience of eeeeevil. New and better armor sets are available to level 20 and we will be recommending players opt for New Halas or Neriak upon entering the game their first time.
Xelgad (by way of Ashlanne) has posted some additional information about the upcoming Fighter changes that come with Game Update 64. But first, Piestro has some comments about rushing to judgment: Obviously this is a change that we knew people would be passionate about. Of course until people see the actual changes any evaluation of their impact is premature. The best way to move forward is to write down your concerns, and then formulate a test plan based on those concerns. That will give you the best possible start to actually testing the changes, and seeing what their actual...
From the EQ2 Forums: Hey all, Xelgad here! I wanted to explain some of the improvements to our Character Development window that you will be seeing on Test Server soon. The biggest change is that class foci from armor will instead be granted through the Character Development window. Carried over from tier to tier for years, these foci have become part of the standard class more than a reward for acquiring high end gear. You can choose one bonus every nine levels, starting at level nine. (Do you really want this? Of course you do!)
On June 21, 2012, Dave “Smokejumper” Georgeson (Executive Director of Development) discussed the upcoming Game Update 64, specifically PvP, Battlegrounds, and Fighter changes with Akil “Lyndro” Hooper (Lead Designer), Mike “Xelgad” Ganz (Associate Game Designer), and Brian “Omougi” Ferguson (Associate Game Designer). Game Update 64 will be hitting the Test and Test Copy servers next Tuesday. NOTE: Make sure you’ve got your volume turned down as the video opens with a loud throat clearing.
In addition to the Qeynos Revamp and some tweaks to the Fighter archetype, Game Update 64 will bring significant long-awaited changes to PvP and Battlegrounds. From the EQ2 Forums: With GU64 we are working hard to improve our PVP experience. Our goal is to make our PVP more accessible, more rewarding, and ultimately more fun!
From the EQ2 Forums: GENERAL The in-game browser files have been updated. If you experience any problems with the in-game browser, help UI, or customer service petition functions please post your details here: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=519345
Holly “Windstalker” Longdale has broken her forum silence with a flurry of posts today. Chief among them were a couple of comments on the level 91-92 XP grind, specifically a thread where players expressed their frustration at Withered Lands quests giving less XP than simply grinding in level 80-90 dungeons. From the EQ2 Forums: To respond to the [original poster] specifically, we want the current content to be meaningful and rewarding, including quests. We will have a solution for our expansion which of course means that we acknowledge there is an issue we need to resolve.
From the SOE Forums: Changes are coming to PVP and fighters class for EverQuest II. Host Dave “Smokejumper” Georgeson (Executive Director of Development) is going to discuss the upcoming changes with Akil “Lyndro” Hooper (Lead Designer), Mike “Xelgad” Ganz (Associate Game Designer), and Brian “Zuglash” Ferguson (Associate Game Designer). They have lots of details to share about PVP, fighters and more. EverQuest II fans do not want to miss this webcast. Join us on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. US Pacific Time* on Twitch TV! The webcast is expected to last about 20 minutes. For PVP fans and fighters...
File this under better late than never, but Game Update 64 will be rolling out much-needed changes to the Itemization of Drunder raid zones. New items are being added throughout the Drunder raid timeline which will more closely resemble what players have come to expect in Skyshrine zones. In addition, some of the items that people still desire out of Drunder, specifically the insanely rare Mythical weapons will become more common. From Kander on the EQ2 Forums: Sullon’s Spire [Challenge], Tallon’s Stronghold [Challenge] and Vallon’s Tower [Challenge] Raids will have new itemization with GU 64. Item scope will be...
From Holly “Windstalker” Longdale on the EQ2 Forums: Another month has zipped by already! We wanted to wait until after E3 to share a few more details about what we’re up to and what’s coming up this month. By now you may have heard about the SOE corporate initiative called SOEmote(tm) that will launch in EQII later this month. SOEmote uses a webcam and microphone to project your facial expressions, including talking and voice, onto your character in real time! It’s used in groups and also allows you to broadcast to your guild, almost like a webcast. We’re all...
