EQ2 Designer Aaron “Gnobrin” Bisnett has tweeted a few screenshots of the upcoming Siren’s Grotto zone which hits the EQ2 Beta server next Tuesday, and goes live at the end of April: For those still thinking Siren’s Grotto will take place underwater… Siren’s Grotto is *NOT* an underwater zone. You’re fighting sirens, there’s seaweed everywhere… no water. #EQ2 — Aaron Bisnett (@Gnobrin) March 28, 2013 These are being posted during the Game Update 66: Scars of the Awakened Lore Webcast:

So it turns out that the issue players have been having with purchasing Krono from the Broker is more complicated than we’d originally thought, as evidenced by the feedback from players who have been able to buy some of the Krono on the Broker but not others. The issue is that the game thinks some Krono are invalid and so is not allowing their sale. From Nandy “Zoltaroth” Szots: Krono that return the error are in a bad state and should remove themselves from the Broker. In the next hotfix, they will remove themselves automatically. If you move down...

What awaits adventurers in Cobalt...
It’s now 10 days since the Consignment fee was removed from buying Krono on the Broker. This was a great change, except this has unfortunately meant that certain Krono cannot be purchased from the broker, as players receive a message stating that the item is no longer available for consignment. Can’t buy Krono(s) on Freeport Are you fixing the Krono problem? Missing Kronos NOTE: If you remove one or more Krono from the broker, you will need to camp and then login your character again for the items to appear in your Inventory and/or Currency window. For now, if...

Added Ascending and Descending parameters for sorting called with “a” and “d” respectively (ie: “/sort_bags tier a”). Bag Dumping: Restored old bag swap functionality. Dragging a bag over another bag in your equipment window will swap the position of those bags (without moving their contents). To dump the contents of a bag into another, open the destination bag and then drag and drop the source bag into the open destination bag’s window. Bag Dumping now supports partial dumping....
EQ2Wire sits down with Dedith to talk about his new Data-driven EQ2 site which he launched over the weekend. Q: What made you want to create Dragons Armory? Is there a history to the name? Dedith: The reason behind the site was to help those players who may not know or not have the time to find the finer points of optimizing their characters. *grin* My wife insists that I wrote it for her. I did realize while researching the design of this site that everyone plays their characters differently, so I concentrated on making the tools so no...
At long last, the EverQuest2.com website has been updated with a current list of Community Fan Sites and News pages. This page can be reached under the Community menu under Links. Of course we’re happy to see EQ2Wire listed — hey it only took us 4 1/2 years! — as well as our sister site EQ2U and Dethdlr’s recently updated Adornment Calculator. It’s great to see the number of sites listed which have contributed so much to the EverQuest II world and player community. Thanks to Dexella who reached out to the Fan Site community to make sure she...

Logo mockup by EQ2Wire From Holly “Windstalker” Longdale on the EQ2 Forums: To all Norrathians, The Velious saga continues! New lands and adventures will be uncovered on April 30 with Game Update 66 entitled EverQuest II: Scars of the Awakened! Ever vigilant, Norrathians march united under the banner of the New Combine army, deeper into the perilous continent of Velious. Finally, the army breaches the borders of a region known as Cobalt Scar – a majestic, lush, but tormented region. And from within dark passages in the surrounding mountains, the inhabitants of Sirens Grotto beckon to all.
A number of players have been reporting an issue over the last two weeks that leaves them in a “phantom group”, lumped together with ghost players or mercenaries who aren’t actually grouped with them. As a result, these players are unable to join any other group, despite trying /leave, /disband, or even /camping to character select. Some have only found relief from server reboots. From Holly “Windstalker” Longdale‘s twitter: Big apologies to folks dealing with group issues. We are trying to fix a historic bug and it has exposed other problems. We are on it! #EQ2 — Holly Longdale...

All day, every day, we dream up ways to make these games better for you, the loyal players and fans of Norrath. EverQuest and EverQuest II have both been running as free-to-play games for a good chunk of time now. We’ve learned a lot while that’s been happening, and we can make things better for you. So, we’re going to take out a bunch of the free-to-play restrictions that you’re used to as a Free or...
From the EQ2 Forums: Many moons ago, the Dwarves started Brewday in honor of Brell. Now, each year, portals appear in Antonica, Commonlands, Haven, Greater Faydark, Timorous Deep, and Frostfang Sea to lead you to the Bar of Brell, where new and classic adventures await those thirsty and foolhardy enough to enter! Otengard Brauer has also set up a Beer Garden in the Butcherblock Mountains, but the ale seems to have attracted some goblins. Help him while competing against others in an effort to rid the area of the most goblins. And as you’re crawling through the bars and...

One thing that made it into yesterday’s Update was a change to how loot drops in the Chains of Eternity Advanced Solo zones. Previously, after killing flattening laying to rest the boss of each zone, 1-3 Mystery Crates would be granted to the player, containing either Legendary jewelry, Fabled armor (very rare), or consumables like Research Reducers, temporary Adornments, or Food. Because the items were in a Mystery Crate, the items could not be traded to other players, even if you had done the zone with 2 players (rather than 1 player and a mercenary). Players reported a very...

From the EQ2 Forums: GENERAL You can now put a true/false parameter on the /hide_illusions command to force hide or force show instead of toggeling the hide illusions option. If you don’t use a parameter it will just toggle as before. The /hide command will once again default to /hide_illusions instead of /hide_guild_achievements. POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Wurmbone’s End: Nox Incessit Prime Temple-Blocker Grudk now gives more time to kill his spider adds. Adds have less health. Wasp and bug encounters have been lowered in number to help reduce lag issues. ITEMS The experience required to increase the level...

From the EQ2 Forums: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Sleeper’s Tomb: The Forgotten Catacombs The Eternal Sentinel now only needs to trample the smaller gargoyles once each to knock them over. Wurmbone Gulch (Crag) [Heroic] – Merglok the Slasher gives you more time to move away. He will give a message every time he is going to go into “Clawed Storm”. Clawed Storm has had its damage reduced. [Advanced Solo] – Merglok the Slasher will give a message every time he is going to go into “Clawed Storm”. He claws slower now and Clawed Storm has had its damage reduced.
We are thrilled to officially release Guild Achievements on EQ2U as well as an improved Guild Detail page with Guild Recruiting info including Cloak Heraldry! NOTE: The rounded corner blue style is temporary and we intend to replace it with something more becoming in the future!
Some of the big features of this week’s Game Update 65.5 were a number of class tweaks in PvP combat, the expansion of PvP’s Blue Adornments to other items (cloaks, charms, etc.), and the addition of PvP Set Bonuses on certain items. While the first two have been well-received, it seems that the new PvP Set Bonuses were bugged on Test and Beta and are now bugged on Live such that they are not effective at all. But perhaps the bigger issue is, some of the PvP Set Bonuses grant stats which even the most poorly-geared player has already...
The Advanced Solo zones in Chains of Eternity drop some amazing loot, including a full set of jewelry upgrades as well as (somewhat controversially), the basic raid gear that drops in Chains of Eternity raid zones. This has been nice for players who are either tackling them with a mercenary or a second player. However due to the way the loot in these Advanced Solo zones drop (in one or three mystery crates), most players end up with an item they cannot use. Worse, the items cannot be traded with group members. And more maddening still, the loot table...
