From the EQ2 Forums: Until we launch our expansions (read that as Soon™) there will be something cool – some kind of bonus – for most EverQuest 2 players every day! Last week, we kicked off Fall Frenzy with our Double XP week and a 35% off sale on store items on Time-Locked Expansion servers, Stormhold and Deathtoll. Tomorrow, we will continue with our daily bonuses promotion starting at noon PDT when we activate Double Far Seas Ferrins – and that’s Double-Double Ferrins for members! This phase of our Fall Frenzy will last until Oct. 2 at noon when our next bonus will...

The second prelude quest leading up to EverQuest II’s twelfth expansion is now activated on all non-TLE EQ2 servers. This quest appeared on Test servers for several days and the discussion thread may be helpful to those looking for clues how to complete the quest. Interestingly, the quest references the underground cities of Moradhim and Klik’anon which appeared in the now-sunsetted PS2 exclusive EverQuest Online Adventures (EQOA), which predates both EverQuest and EverQuest II. Moradhim and Klik’anon were the player starting cities of the Dwarves and Gnomes, respectively. The good version of this prelude quest is Sundered Ground, an Investigation for the Order of Arcane while the...
It’s now time for the second vote for whether the first EQ2 expansion “Desert of Flames” will go live on each of the TLE servers next month or be held back for another 30 days. From the EQ2 Forums: It’s that time again. Will you vote to unlock the Desert of Flame expansion content on the Time-Locked Expansion server YOU play on? This vote is in-game, and will run on Stormhold and Deathtoll until noon PDT on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Just look to your mailbox for this vote (and zone or relog if you have any issues having this vote...

Two years after abandoning its Twitter and Facebook accounts and four months after an as-yet-unexplained multi-day outage this summer affecting thousands of guild portals for dozens of different MMOs, it seems that GuildPortal has finally and unceremoniously gone belly up. According to DNS records, GuildPortal.com’s domain was marked expired pending deletion on September 19th and there have been no signs they intend to resurrect the site. Now tens of thousands of guilds are left in the lurch, with no access to their DKP and Attendance records, News, Forums, Roster, etc.
From the EQ2 Forums: PvP Fixed an issue where killing players on your recent kill list was not being processed correctly.
From Windstalker’s twitter: Starting now, TLE players in #EQ2 are getting a 35% discount on in-game store items until noon Oct. 1! (Decorators asked….) — Holly Longdale (@TheWindstalker) September 21, 2015 From the EQ2 Forums: Time-Locked Expansion server players rejoice, because you’ll get 35% Off items in the Marketplace until noon PDT* on Thursday, October 1, 2015! What items will you pick up from the Marketplace during this period of huge savings on Stormhold and Deathtoll?
The monthly Moonlight Enchantments event begins tonight! The grottos open up on the 20th at 12:01am PT and close on the 21st at 11:59pm PT. The time applies directly with no conversion for all servers.
Holly “Windstalker” Longdale has announced on Twitter that EQ and EQ2 will receive some kind of bonus every day between now and the release of each games’ respective expansions. We’re going to assume that means October 1st, not November 10/17/whenever. Actually it IS until release! Starting next week, #eq2 and #everquest will get "some kind of bonus" every day until expansions launch. OMGRSH! Stay tuned for deets! — Holly Longdale (@TheWindstalker) September 19, 2015
From the EQ2 Forums: What if we told you that we’re offering DOUBLE EXPERIENCE to our All-Access members for a whole week? The double experience bonus for Adventure, Tradeskill and AA XP will turn on at noon PDT* on Friday, September 18, 2015 and will last a full week! This means you have until noon PDT on Friday, September 25, 2015 to fill up those XP bars! The Double XP bonuses will be available for All Access members on all traditional servers. While the bonus will not be available on Stormhold and Deathtoll, there are still exciting adventures awaiting All Access members on those special servers. Remember,...
Daybreak Games aren’t the only ones doing maintenance today. EQ2U and EQ2Wire will be undergoing maintenance starting at 12:01am EDT and we’re hoping the downtime will be limited to 3-5 hours. An opportunity has presented itself to upgrade to a significantly faster server with the same host at roughly the same price. The first step is a hardware migration. In the coming weeks, we will have additional upgrades that will bring our operating system, database, and web server software up to date.
Update as of 6:30pm PDT: #EQ & #EQ2 players – you should be seeing your membership benefits and entitlements again. Let us know if issues persist. Thanks! — Daybreak Games (@DaybreakGames) September 18, 2015 Previous Update: We’re now 8 hours past the scheduled completion time for today’s maintenance and players are still reporting sporadic issues with having either no Loyalty Tokens or a fraction of what people used to have. Others are unable to login to all their characters as their accounts aren’t showing the full access and character slot count they are supposed to.
EverQuest II’s twelfth expansion, coming in mid-November, will include the Altar of Malice expansion and Rum Cellar campaign. If you have recently resumed playing and can’t wait until then to play all this level 95-100 content, then now’s your chance to grab them at a 50% discount. But perhaps the biggest audience for today’s 50% discount will be those players who missed out on the Striped Savage Pterodon mount, Elite Battle-Mystic Mercenary, 3 Gems of Armor Advancement, Prehistoric House Pet, and Mage Tower teleporter item for your house. If so, then the next two weeks are your last chance to...
Will this fall’s expansion scare the pants off us? It just might!
UPDATE: This maintenance completed after about 6 hours. Update from Twitter: Access/membership issues should be resolved for @LandmarkGame, @DCUO, and @planetside2. You may need to log in again. — Daybreak Games (@DaybreakGames) September 17, 2015 Other games, including @everquestii, are still being worked on. Thanks for your patience. — Daybreak Games (@DaybreakGames) September 17, 2015 Update from Twitter: The teams are aware of issues with account status & membership. They are working on a fix, but we do not have an ETA at this time. — Daybreak Games (@DaybreakGames) September 17, 2015
From the EQ2 Forums: ITEMS Chest of Wondrous Booty will now display the correct items that it rewards.* QUESTS Rum Cellar and Fabled Echoes of Faydwer missions have been added to the Mission Timer Window. *Editor’s Note: This is the random chest which can be purchased from the Altar of Malice Rare Loot Merchant. Also, Kander indicated that several rare items missing from this merchant will be added with tomorrow’s update.
Yesterday, a merchant offering the rare heroic drops from Altar of Malice zones appeared on live servers. Players were quick to report how much was missing from this merchant and how high the prices were. It seems EQ2 Lead Designer Kander agrees, at least on the first part… More rares coming. We missed an entire directory. Sorry all, we are really in full tilt for the expansion and things slipped by. More items soon. and: An update with lots more stuff, rare, bows, etc coming Thursday, September 17th. Apologies everyone, we are marching forth with the expansion.
Last week, the EverQuest II team initiated in-game polls to ask players what their new servers should be called after the upcoming Server Consolidations Mergers. Players on affected servers were provided three choices, all based on various zone names from specific expansions. Not surprisingly, a solid majority of players chose the shortest names offered. One could speculate that, like passwords, people keep things short that they have to remember and use daily. An alternate hypothesis suggests that the idea of sending cross-server tells to characters on a server called Palace of the Awakened was giving players the shakes. From Holly “Windstalker”...
NOTE: This is a commentary piece by Morgan Feldon and is not intended to reflect the opinion of anyone else. In recent years, it seems like there is a special day for just about everything. Grandparents Day, Office Assistant day, Take Your Ferret to Work Day (ok maybe I made that one up), you get the point. In that spirit, we’d like to declare September 15th as Justify Your Marketing Department Day. The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Yet despite a decade of numerous debacles which we have...
If you were hoping for the already overdue Pre-orders and Pricing information for EQ2’s twelfth expansion, I’m afraid Marketing is going to drag this out yet another two weeks until October 1st. Here’s today’s Producer’s Letter with what Holly “Windstalker” Longdale has been allowed to tease us with. We’ll be back with commentary. Maybe. Hail Norrathians! Our next expansion release is right around the corner! Yes, you heard me right – expansion! The team has been churning away and when we looked at the amount of content we created, we decided to call our next release an expansion rather than a campaign...
EQ/EQ2 Executive Producer Holly “Windstalker” Longdale tweeted late last night that we can expect a Producer’s Letter this morning at 10am PDT. Producer letters for #everquest and #eq2 coming tomorrow aboot (cdn) 10 am Pacific! — Holly Longdale (@TheWindstalker) September 15, 2015 We can’t say with any certainty what the letter will contain, but we are rather overdue for the announcement of EverQuest II’s twelfth expansion. Typically, these are announced in July or August at the annual SOE Live event which is of course on hiatus this year. And yes, this fall’s update is going to be an expansion as EQ2 Lead...
A handful of players have been reporting an intermittent glitch with the Phantom Seas signature quest line, specifically at the Allu’thua Abduction subquest. The quest reaches a point where hailing the needed NPC no longer updates the quest. We’re unsure of how many people have experienced this issue. We did not find a Bug Report for it on the DGC Issue Tracker website. EQ2 designer extraordinaire Kaitheel has responded to the thread a couple of times and reports that the code side are looking into where the quest might be going awry.
From the EQ2 Forums: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Phantom Seas The Rare Drop Merchant for Altar of Malice can now be found in the Phantom Seas! Precipice of Power [Raid] The stone adds in the Brell Serilis encounter should no longer kill pets unless directly attacking them. ITEMS Sturdy armor molds will no longer refuse to grant the quest for players that did not have enough city faction. The passive effect for Finsher III now grants potency, instead of offensive only potency. Commentary A merchant selling rare heroic drops from the previous expansion’s dungeons has been a late-summer mainstay...
The time has come for EQ2 players on the US servers being consolidated to pick their new server names. An in-game poll is being conducted to let players make this important decision. Crushbone/Oasis/Butcherblock denizens can choose from: Maj’Dul Poet’s Palace Shimmering Citadel Cleft of Rujark Scornfeather’s Roost Everfrost/Guk/Unrest denizens didn’t get a single one-word choice (what about Bonemire?): Halls of Fate Vault of El’Arad Sanctum of the Scaleborn Tenebrous Tangle Palace of the Awakened Freeport/Permafrost/Nagafen denizens got the most kickass choices by far: Veeshan’s Peak Chardok Kor-Sha Skyfire Protector’s Realm NOTE: Presumably, each account gets one vote per server....
Why are we reporting on a login server outage yesterday afternoon that’s already been resolved? Because communication on the forums was especially good this time around and we report good news too. Don’t worry though, the comments will make up for it. EQ/EQ2 Executive Producer Holly “Windstalker” Longdale and Community Manager Mepps (who normally tends the DCUO community) pitched in to keep players informed in a “Can’t Log in” forum thread, as well as on Facebook and Twitter. As a bonus, it was pointed out that the product specifications and marketing information for EverQuest II on the Steam Marketplace...
