From Twitch.tv:
If you live near a 7-11 (they used to be widely popular in the U.S., then mostly pulled out and moved into Europe, and are now slowly trickling back into the U.S.), then this StationCash deal may be of interest to you. We have not been able to confirm if this deal applies cards bought from European 7-11 locations (or if they carry the cards). While there are nearly 500 7-Eleven stores in Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway, and Sweden), I’ve confirmed that they do not carry the cards. Stock Up Now! Buy a SOE Pre-Paid Card at 7-Eleven and redeem...
It’s official! SOE Live 2013 Registration is now OPEN! SOE Live Gains a Few Hours The planned events will sound familiar to SOE Live/Fan Faire veterans, but the schedule is a bit different. I’m booked to fly out at 12:30pm so hopefully there aren’t any crucial...

The EverQuest II servers send a lot of data to the game client, especially when a player is grouped with 23 others, all decked out in top end gear, adornments, and running potions, all triggering and multiplying heals, damage, and so forth. Years ago, this came to a head with Procs (built-in effects on items). They were critting, magnifying each other, and just creating a cascading mess of combat events which put a strain on servers and player’s computers alike. Fast forward to 2013 and while Procs have still been largely kept in check, the addition of more AAs,...

From EverQuest2.com: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Harrow’s End [Raid] Drinal should no longer have a chance to cast more than one curse on the raid force at the same time. Instead the person in group that has to react will affect only their specific group with the damage. This damage has been made unable to be AE blocked. Concussive Mindmeld can no longer be AE blocked. Drinal should no longer occasionally cast spells...
These updates are all Marketplace-related. First up, a number of House Items are being reduced in price. From Ahma on the EQ2 Forums: Greetings Norrathians! While making changes to housing for Game Update 66: Scars of the Awakened, we decided it was time to make some changes to housing items on the Marketplace, too. As a result, you’ll find that many items in the Housing category have gotten some hefty price cuts. This includes: Building Blocks: Individual tiles and blocks now cost 10SC instead of 50SC Building Blocks: Sets of 10 tiles and sets of 10 blocks now cost...

All EQ2 servers are being updated at the same time today (7am PST, 15:00 BST and 16:00 CET). This one is catching folks who play on EU servers by surprise because EU updates are typically the next morning so as to avoid disrupting afternoon gameplay in Europe. Here’s the tweet from last night… UPDATE — ALL EQ2 servers will come down at 7:00 am PDT (3:00 pm London) for the hotfix. ow.ly/jUJdJ — EverQuest II (@everquestii) April 10, 2013
From the EQ2 Forums: GENERAL Mercenaries no longer take a split of the coin in a group. ITEMS The damage of Elemental Eruption and Elemental Detonation can now only trigger once.
Perhaps coincidence, or perhaps in line with the Plat distribution changes currently on Beta, here is an interesting tweet from Holly “Windstalker” Longdale: With tomorrow’s hotfix, mercenaries are less…mercenary…and will stop taking a cut of the coin loot! #EQ2 — Holly Longdale (@WindstalkerEQ2) April 9, 2013
After years of anticipation, nail-biting, and player feedback on both sides, the day has finally arrived. With Game Update 66, the way that Platinum is awarded from Group and Raid zones will change to a per-player amount rather than a total that is split between players. In addition, Platinum will be added to current zones in Skyshrine, Chains of Eternity, and Scars of the Awakened. The Protector’s Realm Plat Machine For years, players have been able to complete the Kunark raid zones of the Protector’s Realm and the Shard of Hate, earning upwards of 170 Platinum each. These zones,...

This article contains no EverQuest II content. From PennyArcade.com by Ben Kuchera: Former LucasArts composer Jesse Harlin has written a eulogy for the company, and the words have been matched with a series of images taken of employees on what was reported to be their last day of work. The eulogy is moving, and it provides a look into a group of people who are passionate about what they did, but a few lines stand out as stark reminders of how much you give up to work in this industry. “In the trenches of game design, work was hard. Crippling crunches...
