After reading the Upcoming Housing Improvements! thread on the EQ2 Forums, and then hearing more about these changes in the Velious Webcasts, one might have logically concluded that these changes would be IN Velious. You’ll recall that SmokeJumper referred to the Freeblood Estate, as well as Miragul’s Summer Home (part of the Velious Digital Collector’s Edition) as being smaller prestige homes that would connect to your main house once these changes went into effect. After the jump, we get an estimate about when we might see Multiple Housing Ownership…
Art, Appearance, Housing
From Domino on the EQ2 Forums: I spent the afternoon today lurking around listening in channels, including the homeshow channel, and heard quite a few comments about some changes to water textures and reflections. (Thanks to all who provided details!) I talked to GermInUSA, who has been working on improving water and reflections lately. The quick fix is to turn on this display option: Ctrl-O (open your options); click the advanced button; under the display options, in the “water” section, tick the “water reflections” tick box. (Despite the name, this also affects non-water reflections.)
Coinciding with each Expansion, there has traditionally been a Game Update. There have been numerous features which are available whether you’ve purchased the expansion or not. Today, we look closer into some of the features that will likely (but which we can certainly not guarantee) be available on Tuesday to all players. It is POSSIBLE that some of these items may end up being flagged Velious-only, so this is our best guess at this point… Guild Hall Tapestries with Guild Heraldry File this under things we heard about since the Fan Faire that launched EQ2Wire where Guild Halls were...
With the screen shot restriction lifting on registered EQ2 Fan Sites, we are now starting to see more updates out there on Destiny of Velious. One of the first to get updated was Niami’s wonderful EQ2Traders site, which already has screen shots of many of the new Destiny of Velious carpenter recipes. Check out her ever-evolving DoV preview, as well as the new Carpenter Items page.
With 6 and 7 room houses now outstripping the storage capacity of even medium-sized Guild Halls, some players figured out that the StationCash Marketplace Item Expanders could be placed in guild halls. Today’s hotfix changes that: Fixed a bug where players could use marketplace item expanders on guild halls. Players who have done that will have the item expander applied to their personal house when they next zone into their personal house and the item expander will be removed from the guild hall. If this puts a guild hall over its item limit it will still have the items...
From Kaitheel on the EQ2 Forums: Barring any unforeseen issues arising, the current plan is: Erollisi Day will be activated on all servers (international and & test included) Wednesday Feb 9th. Erollisi Day will be deactivated at the end of day on Sunday Feb 20th for most servers. For servers that are affected by merges during the event’s time period, we will extend Erollisi Day to the end of day on Monday Feb 21st. Also, if you have a bunch of tokens from other seasonal events taking up valuable bag space: There is going to be an NPC that...
We haven’t posted about City Festivals in a while so thought we’d repost this one. If you have completed city tasks such as tradeskill writs and adventure writs, you’ll notice you have received City Tokens. These tokens can be used to buy items from the travelling merchants of the City Festival. Each month, a few unique items are available only to each city (including themed tiles, dividers, and columns), as well as a selection of items which are always available. This month, the festival is parked at the gates of the City of Kelethin in Greater Faydark.
Today’s surprising announcement (in light of comments last week about the unliklihood of characters being able to own more than one home in the forseeable future) is that in a future update, players will be able to own multiple houses. The announcement also confirms the names of some of the upcoming Prestige housing which we first picked out of vpk updates, namely the Dojo and Opera House. Along with the Skyblade Skiff, Freeblood Manor, and the Everfrost Summer Home (Miragul’s Managerie) this will bring the Prestige housing options up to 5.
From EverQuest2.com: The following items are included in the Retail Version of Destiny of Velious. There are no Pre-Order exclusives for our Retail Version and this is the only version available as a printed box copy, so no matter when you purchase this version, whether you reserve a copy today or purchase it after launch, these items will always be available to those with the Retail copy. Standard of the Dain (Retail Exclusive cloak)
Today we explore something near and dear to a growing number of crafters — the ability to “break out” of houses and build truly unique structures. Rhyme‘s Mid-Century Modern house on Guk (More Screenshots)
There has been precious little information posted about the upcoming EverQuest II: Destiny of Velious expansion. Most of the facts and figures we have about it date back to Fan Faire of August 2010. In spite of some major leaks by SOE, we are going to stay on this side of the NDA and stick to answering what we can based on facts in evidence and a little bit of deductive reasoning. Please note this article has been written without conference or verification by SOE and may contain errors. After the jump, our preliminary Frequently Asked Questions about Destiny...
The new Freeblood race has a special “Ferocity of the Freeblood”, as well as access to housing “Freeblood Lair” and “Swarm of Bats” mount/buff. The details of how these are unlocked and what issues players will face if they change race have been addressed in different posts over the last 24 hours. Here are the highlights. Also inside, a glimpse of something we have heard rumors about before — that some new feature is coming to EQ2 housing with the release of the Destiny of Velious expansion.
Here are some news items we missed in the flurry of Server Merge and Freeblood news. They include Shaders 3 and Halas buildings, the look of the Freeblood, and Loitering NPCs in Freeport and Qeynos.
From EverQuest2.com: On Wednesday, December 15, qualifying EQII and EQ2X accounts who have met the requirements for Velious Winter Rewards will find a new bag in their /claim window which contains two new items; a Coldain Butler and a Scars of Velious in-game painting. Photos and Details after the jump.
Today’s hotfix refunds the purchase cost of Research Assistants, adds 200 house item slots to The Mistmoore Crags Estate and a few other things. Read the full hotfix notes after the jump.
After the launch of Sentinel’s Fate, players quickly noticed that a huge percentage of the level 81-90 gear had armor appearances from either the newbie islands, or level 40-49 armor sets, just recolored. It turned out that new armor appearances had been built, but very few had been wired up, so most of the armor had placeholder appearances. It took at least a couple of months for another art build, and much work behind the scenes to get the situation resolved. Even still, there are considerable swaths of armor appearance choices which have remained limited. Covic does not want...
From Rothgar on the EQ2 Forums: The Mistmoore Crag Estate item limit should not have been less than the other large houses already available. We’ve decided to up the limit from 600 to 800. This change should be going out in the next hotfix.
Players have been wondering exactly how vampires are going to be sewn into the EQ2 storyline as a playable race. And some have wondered if any other medical conditions such as lycanthropy will make an appearance. A new article has appeared on EverQuest2.com with Lore explaining the presence of the Freeblood vampire race and their place in Norrath. This article also includes teaser screen shots of the new Freeblood race.
Niami Denmother over at EQTraders has posted a new article about new Hua Mein furniture added with yesterday’s Hotfix. Today, one new furniture item was added to the hua’mein faction vendor in the Sundered Frontier (the hua mein artisan). In addition, however, 12 furniture items were added to the Stonebrunt Mountains pandas, the Disciples of Circling Destiny. Check out the screenshots and faction details on them here! images courtesy EQTraders
First mentioned just after the introduction of Guild Halls, many players have been hoping to place tapestries in their guild halls which display the guild’s chosen heraldry. At Fan Faire, we were told that the artwork was essentially done. Domino on the EQ2 Forums has indicated: If all goes well, you can expect to see this around February… Also, apparently merchant Nin Yung in the Stonebrunt Highlands was supposed to offer furniture items for players with Ally faction. Domino informs us: Seems that at some point between Sentinel’s Fate beta and launch, a shipment of Hua Mein furniture intended...
In response to a conversation about the division of development time between EQ2, StationCash items, and Legends of Norrath, Calthine of EQ2 ZAM made a statement that elicited a response from SmokeJumper. That response confirmed on Thursday what many of us have believed but been unable to prove. Since the introduction of StationCash Marketplace, StationCash Items have been designed and tested by the main EQ2 team and not, as has been posited, by a separate team of artists and programmers. SmokeJumper indicates that this is changing, and with the revenue from SC/LoN, SOE have been able to justify hiring...
The Heroes’ Festival is SOE’s celebration of the anniversary of EverQuest II. This will mark the 6th year since EverQuest II premiered. There are a series of repeatable and nonrepeatable quests which reward various house items as well as a collection. Absent this year are the player-made paintings introduced during last year’s brief event. EQ2 ZAM has updated information on the quests and events going on in this year’s Heroes Festival.
The folks over at EQ2 ZAM were able to seed some questions to the EQ2 team about the upcoming Server Merges. Their answers to those questions have now been posted. Questions covered topics such as purging of old character and guild names (not happening), character rename potions (they’ll need to /petition if there is a conflict), EQ2Players stats and discoveries (good luck!), and Server Titles for the target/destination server (nope). The largest pool of questions cover items placed in bank slots, shared banks, houses, and guild halls. Some characters and guilds have thousands of items so this is a...
The EQ2 Community Team is hosting a unique decorating challenge for Nights of the Dead this year. You create a new character on the Test Copy server in Neriak and post a response in this thread on the official forums. The EQ2 Community Team will then give you supplies to work with and PM you when you have your supplies. Use the provided supplies to purchase a house at 1 Walk of the Dead and purchase items from a special merchant just outside the house. You then have until the 25th at 6pm PDT to finish decorating your new...
If you have been /feedbacking to the EQ2 team for years that you would be ready, willing, and eager to sell family members, limbs, or just pony up a few extra bucks to increase your house item limit, then I have some great news. If, however, you hate StationCash and everything it stands for, and SOE will never get a penny of your money over the $14.99 (or less depending on your subscription plan), then I have some bad news. But first, let’s look at some cool changes to housing in Game Update 58. 😉
