Kander posted this on the EQ2Forums:
Greetings and welcome to the Tears of Veeshan open Beta!
First, let me thank you all for choosing to come and help us. We are grateful for your time, and will see that you are justly rewarded!
We have a lot to test with this expansion, and we appreciate all of you who are helping us.
You can access Vesspyr: the Eternal Broodlands via the dragon rings or druid rings.
All heroic and advanced solo content is accessible directly from specialized entrances in the overland.

Raids will be in closed Beta testing from October 15th to October 22nd. After that they will be open Beta. The raid zones for Tears of Veeshan are:
- Accursed Sanctum [Raid] [Currently 10 Raid Boss Encounters]
- Temple of Veeshan: Guardian’s Edifice [Raid] [Currently 15 Raid Boss Encounters]
There is going to be a lot fine tuning especially in heroic and raid content, with the increase in player hit points, there will be a lot of damage tweaking and mob HP adjusting in all forms of play. If something seems ridiculously easy? Please let us know. Same goes for something that seems impossible.
We appreciate all forms of feedback, whether it is mechanics, how something looks, or if you feel the reward for something is not matching your efforts. Please don’t be shy, but please do try to be constructive. Those who are not helping out in a constructive manner will be removed from beta.
We will be awarding Beta rewards to those who manage to really dig in and test things. There will be automatic rewards for completing certain types of content, like quests and heroic dungeons. Also we will be awarding some goodies to people who help out with raid testing when we need them as well.
If you earn Beta rewards, they will be claimable on your live servers starting next week.
We appreciate your help and feedback.
It looks like any item that had spell weapon on it and was reforged is going to be unequipped, unattuned and unadorned when things go live. Would it be possible for you to do another ‘save’ of toons, Feldon? Putting all those adornments back in the right place w/o being able to look up my live toon would have been a nightmare.
+1 to this! Both of my 95 mages (soon to be 3) will probably end up nearly naked after this update, being able to see how they were beforehand would be a huge time saver. Alternatively, confirmation that you won’t would also be super, so folks know to go in and record adornment choices and stats.
Are we sure it has to do with reforging? It looks like ALL my adorns (even ones already attached from advance solo loot) were removed
Update: it appears to be related to Spell Weapon
https://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/index.php?threads/i-had-adornments-removed-to-overflow-but-all-my-equipment-is-still-fully-adorned.540692/
>>That’s because a lot of items were updated due to the removal of spell weapon stats. We are working to make this process not as annoying for players. <<
Won’t the gear changes and new adorning rules change all of that?
spell weapon stuff is supposed to go away but reforging is also supposed to change to be more restrictive by slot (with only a couple of options each).
Time to patch beta… after work. 🙂
So Equilibrium has the closed beta testing of raid zones again and everyone else doesn’t matter…guess we can be thankful they decided to allow us humble players a try after 2 weeks…piss poor idea again.
After seeing how some of these supposed…elite players from Equilibrium actually play, would have been better to throw those invites to F2P players.
Dude, that simply isn’t the case. In the last 2 updates it’s been Equilibrium, Validus, Revelations, Shoukin, Knights of the White Shield and probably others on raid content.
There are a handfull of smart and experienced players in Equilibrium to give accurate and informative feedback on raid encounters. I doubt the players lower on the totem pole will be providing the feedback.
I do have to say that I am very excited to see only 2 raid zones with 15 raid bosses and how progression through there will be different from the easy mode / hard mode versions we are currently used to .
Hitting 1-2 zones a night versus running around Norrath planting flags for 6 or more different raid zones and the zone time / LDs involved will not be missed by me. Hopefuly the do not go overboard on the amount of trash in those zones.
Really?
There was a time, a couple of years ago, when being in Equilibrium was a considerable achievement. Have they fallen that far?
(I would not know, I was never a member of Equilibrium and since my return to EQ2 have no interest in raiding)
… unless the trash drops progresssion bridging loot with a reasonable frequency. 🙂
Does anyone know if you can run the Beta load-out on a different physical drive than the Live EQ2 load-out? Is it easy to do? I just don’t have room on my SSD for Beta. Thanks.
you’d likely need to make the beta folder under your EQ2 folder a symlink to the other drive.. I won’t explain how as I don’t want to support it, but there are some sites out there explaining symlinks in Windows (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/16226/complete-guide-to-symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/)
Symlinking your EQ2 BetaServer and EQ2 live folders would mean that every time you switch between Beta and Live, you’d need to re-patch and download 1-2GB of data.
If the only symlink is the beta folder, you would still have two separate copies of EQ2, one beta and one normal. They would just be in different spots, which was the original goal.
Just to be clear, we are not trying to point the beta folder back at the original EQ2 folder. This would have the problems Feldon identified.
Sorry I didn’t see that Rylaar was talking about an SSD and not having enough room for the Beta.
On the drive you want the beta on, copy the Launch pad exe to a directory you want it installed and run it. It will start to install another copy of EQ2 there. Stop the install/patch change the version to beta. It will then install/patch beta to that drive.
If you don’t want to go the symlink way that is. You’ll also have a launch pad for beta and normal.
I think I like this idea. Thanks Dedith, Feldon and Benj for your help. =)
No Milliebii, they’re still no1. But like all raiding guilds they also have brick heads in their roster.
Feldon, this is possibly only indirectly related to Beta, but can you look into the MASSIVE problems on the Euro servers yesterday and early today, please? We have had a day of server outages, rollbacks, and no info from SOE at all, apart from one post in the official forums after the first 7 hours of problems, to say all was fixed. It wasn’t, of course.
I’m sure I remember similar problems when previous Betas were running…
is there no open contested dungeon in this xpac?
if not i think thats a first, not sure i like that omission.
TSO didn’t have one, did it?
A real one would be nice.
Not a redone grp zone.
And i guess we’ll get one with the fabled kingdom of sky content.
So after a week or so of beta testing kander threatens me with removal of my account on beta….that and he doesn’t like the feedback I did which is funny cause most of the players commenting on those issues did. Guess thin skinned devs don’t make good judgments on forums.
