Not everyone has the time to watch a Twitch or Youtube video talking about upcoming Game Updates, Expansions, Features, etc. Some are not able to watch videos at work and would rather read a transcript. And there are a number of EQ2 players who are hearing impaired. So for you guys, I am happy to present another EQ2Wire exclusive Transcript of an SOE Webcast. This week’s session is about the upcoming Game Update 66: Scars of the Awakened which lands on the Beta server next Tuesday and goes live April 30th. Inside this transcript, you’ll find out… The Othmir...

From Dexella on the EQ2 Forums: Hey everyone, We’ve seen a few posts recently about daily missions/quests not disappearing once they are completed and expired. We are aware of this and have a fix scheduled to go in next week. In the meantime, if you click on the daily in your journal, it will make it go away. Thanks! ~Dexella
This was posted over a week ago, but I wanted to post some commentary about the forthcoming ability for house decorators to sell their house layouts on the Marketplace. And since that time, there have been a number of clarifications from EQ2 Programmer Kenneth “Terrogaunt” Roecks which further shed light on what we can expect. Here’s Holly “Windstalker” Longdale’s initial announcement: Greetings to our decorators – existing and potential, These are very exciting times for passionate decorators! On April 2, when we start Open Beta for Game Update 66 “Scars of the Awakened,” we will also be inviting you...
Oh. My. God. When Beastlords were added to EQ2, the first thing an alarming number of people wanted to tame was Bristlebane‘s very own Bovinasauros Rex or the Meatbeast! Inexplicably, a month later the Meatbeast was taken away and there were rumblings that not all on the EQ2 team were quite so excited about the idea of players running rampant with them. We thought that was the end of it, but the Walter Bishopesque love for the Meatbeast in the EQ2 community just wouldn’t die! After a year of players clamoring, the Meatbeast was once again available to Beastlords and all was...

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for special events, especially in Enchanted Lands, occurring only on the Highest of Silly Days, April 1st, 2013! New Features for...

EQ2 Designer Aaron “Gnobrin” Bisnett has tweeted a few screenshots of the upcoming Siren’s Grotto zone which hits the EQ2 Beta server next Tuesday, and goes live at the end of April: For those still thinking Siren’s Grotto will take place underwater… Siren’s Grotto is *NOT* an underwater zone. You’re fighting sirens, there’s seaweed everywhere… no water. #EQ2 — Aaron Bisnett (@Gnobrin) March 28, 2013 These are being posted during the Game Update 66: Scars of the Awakened Lore Webcast:

So it turns out that the issue players have been having with purchasing Krono from the Broker is more complicated than we’d originally thought, as evidenced by the feedback from players who have been able to buy some of the Krono on the Broker but not others. The issue is that the game thinks some Krono are invalid and so is not allowing their sale. From Nandy “Zoltaroth” Szots: Krono that return the error are in a bad state and should remove themselves from the Broker. In the next hotfix, they will remove themselves automatically. If you move down...

From the EQ2 Forums: The Saga of the Swords and the Age’s End Prophecy has captured EverQuest II fans for the last three years, and the Velious saga continues now with Game Update 66: Scars of the Awakened! Your host Dave “SmokeJumper” Georgeson (Director of Development for the EverQuest Franchise), with Kyle “Kander” Vallee (Lead Designer), Nathan “Kaitheel” McCall (Assistant Lead Designer), and Carlos “Gninja” Mora (Game Designer), will recap the story thus far and take a look at what’s to come as Norrathians march together under the banner of the New Combine army. What awaits adventurers in Cobalt...
It’s now 10 days since the Consignment fee was removed from buying Krono on the Broker. This was a great change, except this has unfortunately meant that certain Krono cannot be purchased from the broker, as players receive a message stating that the item is no longer available for consignment. Can’t buy Krono(s) on Freeport Are you fixing the Krono problem? Missing Kronos NOTE: If you remove one or more Krono from the broker, you will need to camp and then login your character again for the items to appear in your Inventory and/or Currency window. For now, if...

From the EQ2 Forums: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION The Dreadcutter: The Pirate Kings The Pirate Kings encounter should no longer gain increasing latency over the course of the fight. ITEMS Creeping Fingers, Tri Color Leaf Tree, Five Leaf Bush Drooping Fern Plant, and Blooming Jacaranda can now be sized even larger.
Player-created tubs and water closet items coming soon to EQ2 When the Player Studio forums launched, they were pretty quiet, with minimal developer interaction. Well, what a difference a few months take. Due to the incredible quality of items being submitted by players, and the need for more direct lines of communication between aspiring artists and the “official” game designers, we’ve seen the appointment of a full-time Player Studio artist liaison, and increased involvement of SOE staff. Further, when the Player Studio forums relaunch next month, we’ll see a totally revamped structure that fosters collaborative feedback between artists, as...
From the EQ2 Forums: From 12:01 a.m. Thursday, March 21st, through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 28th, log in to EQII and take part in a look back at Norrathian days of yore. The EQII Team has created this fun event as an homage to EverQuest in honor of the anniversary of the EverQuest franchise, and although the lore doesn’t exactly fit the current story of EQII, they decided to make it extra enjoyable for those who were around for the first iteration of Norrath. Adventurers who take part in this journey through time will find some silly nods to...

On the 20th day of every month, the grottoes of Norrath open for a short time providing players an opportunity to acquire unique house items. Although it was always intended that they would be expanded, the Moonlight Enchantments have experienced few changes since their inception — until now. This month’s event sees additional house plants and sundry items including the oft-requested “Water Tile”, all told 19 new items. Tip of the hat to Kinya of the Polish EQ2 fan site Babagra for sending me the first screenshots of these items. Niami Denmother has also updated EQ2Traders with a writeup of...

From Kaitheel’s twitter: #MoonlightEnchantments starts on 3/20 and lasts through 3/22, as a special extended event this month! #EQ2 — Nathan McCall (@kaitheel) March 19, 2013 This is in addition to other tweets that we might see other additions to this monthly event.
From the EQ2 Forums: BAG SORTING UPDATES Bag Sorting: Added Fuel, Food, and Drink filters. Added Tier sorting method “/sort_bags tier”. Added Ascending and Descending parameters for sorting called with “a” and “d” respectively (ie: “/sort_bags tier a”). Bag Dumping: Restored old bag swap functionality. Dragging a bag over another bag in your equipment window will swap the position of those bags (without moving their contents). To dump the contents of a bag into another, open the destination bag and then drag and drop the source bag into the open destination bag’s window. Bag Dumping now supports partial dumping....
EQ2Wire sits down with Dedith to talk about his new Data-driven EQ2 site which he launched over the weekend. Q: What made you want to create Dragons Armory? Is there a history to the name? Dedith: The reason behind the site was to help those players who may not know or not have the time to find the finer points of optimizing their characters. *grin* My wife insists that I wrote it for her. I did realize while researching the design of this site that everyone plays their characters differently, so I concentrated on making the tools so no...
At long last, the EverQuest2.com website has been updated with a current list of Community Fan Sites and News pages. This page can be reached under the Community menu under Links. Of course we’re happy to see EQ2Wire listed — hey it only took us 4 1/2 years! — as well as our sister site EQ2U and Dethdlr’s recently updated Adornment Calculator. It’s great to see the number of sites listed which have contributed so much to the EverQuest II world and player community. Thanks to Dexella who reached out to the Fan Site community to make sure she...
There are a lot of StationCash items in EQ2, and the question on the EQ2 team’s mind is: Are people not buying ‘service’ items because they don’t want them, or because they can’t find them? To find the answer to that question, next week we’ll see the [eq2u]Forgiveness Potion[/eq2u] disappear from the Marketplace and in its place, a button directly in the Character window and all Menders that allows you to repair your equipment right on the spot for StationCash. As you can see in the screenshot above, the Point of Need button appears in the lower left corner...
From EverQuest2.com: MEMBERSHIP UPDATES The following restrictions have been removed on Free and Silver accounts: Class selections (Beastlord still requires Age of Discovery) Race selections (Freeblood still requires purchase) Bag slots Shared Bank slots Active journal quests allowed GENERAL There is no longer a broker fee for buying Krono from the broker.
Logo mockup by EQ2Wire From Holly “Windstalker” Longdale on the EQ2 Forums: To all Norrathians, The Velious saga continues! New lands and adventures will be uncovered on April 30 with Game Update 66 entitled EverQuest II: Scars of the Awakened! Ever vigilant, Norrathians march united under the banner of the New Combine army, deeper into the perilous continent of Velious. Finally, the army breaches the borders of a region known as Cobalt Scar – a majestic, lush, but tormented region. And from within dark passages in the surrounding mountains, the inhabitants of Sirens Grotto beckon to all.
A number of players have been reporting an issue over the last two weeks that leaves them in a “phantom group”, lumped together with ghost players or mercenaries who aren’t actually grouped with them. As a result, these players are unable to join any other group, despite trying /leave, /disband, or even /camping to character select. Some have only found relief from server reboots. From Holly “Windstalker” Longdale‘s twitter: Big apologies to folks dealing with group issues. We are trying to fix a historic bug and it has exposed other problems. We are on it! #EQ2 — Holly Longdale...
