EQ2 Lead Designer Kyle “Kander” Vallee has posted more details on the upcoming Rum Cellar DLC, as well as a peek at the large fall update which the EQ2 team has been careful not to describe as an expansion, yet will have an overland zone, quest lines, and numerous dungeons. As visitors to the #EQ2Wire chatroom or the EQ2 Subreddit know — which I have to admit is growing on me — I was “permanently suspended” from the EQ2 Forums two nights ago. To date, the exact reason why I was banned has not been forthcoming. After two days of mayhem, a “Free Feldon” campaign (thanks guys!), and additional suspensions, SOE Community Manager Tony “RadarX” Jones has posted a thread today encouraging players to sidestep the “thou shalt not discuss moderation” rule and confess their sins. Update: Unrest seems to be done, however Oasis is now 4 hours overdue on returning to service. The Rum Cellar update, which will be available for purchase for $15 near the end of April, and which introduces 6 new zones all based on the “Far Seas Distillery” motif, is now available for Beta testing. Daybreak Games‘ migration of EQ2 servers to EnterpriseDB continues with the Guk, Sebilis, and the StationCash Marketplace servers undergoing their upgrades tomorrow. This is not new hardware, but a substantial software change that will result in better performance and open the door for new functionality such as Cross-Server Dungeon Finder.
