I know what you mean
Yea that is exactly what it means and thank goodness! Nothing was more annoying in this game then trying to get the quest at the same time as 5 other people lol.
Agree, that stupid NPC danced around more than a squirrel on caffeine.
“Seven of these tokens can then be used to purchase a piece of armor from Zaszae.” of that tier and slot…. really SOE? REALLY??? Cut that number down to, say, 3 from 7, and then we’ll be interested.
I agree with Keelintime about the number of units to be cut dwon from 7 to a lower number. Usualy by the time you run the zone 7-14 times you end up getting the piece you need anyways. I know that Sony is trying to give us more ways to fine tune our toons with diferent armour stats but you still have to put green adorments on them and when talking about Potent gear thats a hole lot of etymes to purchase. I do apreciate the fact they are trying to help and putting the merchant in is a great advantage to have and im not here to bitch about that. That being said I dont know if you can exchange for example 3 sets of potent plate shoulders and 4 pairs of potent cloth shoulders for something beacuse that would be great.
You can go back to the way it was and not use the exchange merchant at all.
If you have multiple characters, getting 7 pieces is easy. If you are only playing 1 character, well you prob already have everything you need.
Only if you grind heavily. Remember that in the advanced solos it seems like it’s 50/50 whether you get an armor drop or a jewelry drop, so roughly double the number of runs you’ll need to get enough armor pieces for a given slot to exchange (you’ll only get one on about half your runs).
I’ll have to test whether they’re armor-type-specific though, or whether for instance you can combine cloth and leather hands with plate hands so my ‘zerker can use the drops my mages and priests can’t.
Are the armor exchange tokens heirloom? This way maybe arcane hands from a scout could be used in conjunction with arcane hands from a tank…that would help a little.
Seven is an acceptable number when you consider the time sync that SOE needs to keep in place for this expansion. Remember, this content needs to make it until at least March, at which point they may be able to put together add-on content. Other than Dominion, the zones aren’t particularly challenging with the right group makeup and competent players. The challenge is usually getting a group together, as EQ2 seems to have become a single player MMO.
Now, with the ability to gain the proper gear, Dominion will start to fall with those same groups who handled other ToV zones in a few weeks time. I agree with reducing the frustration of randomness, however I hope they do not reduce the green gem cost. Green gems are a solid progression to good gear.
The theme of SOE is about choice. The randomness was contrary to that. Put your time in, and you will attain the gear needed to progress. I, for one, like this theme.
I would like to add though, that my only frustration at this point is how much gear I have melted / vendored. 😥
Now I’m glad I put all my junk gear in the shared bank.
5 would have been a reasonable amount IMO. Anything lower and you might as well just make it 1to1. =p
I have so much in bank now it’s crazy but it shouldn’t be by slot. 7 is ok but 7 of the same slot seems exessive. You would have to be awfully unlucky not to run a zone more than 7 times and not the item that you want. Admittedly my channeler ended up wth about 3-4 pairs of tank shoulders from Highkeep and that was frustrating.
It has to be the same slot or it just blows away progression, nobody would bother to run the harder zones that drop chest/pants when you can knock out the easiest of the bunch, and turn 7 bracers, or boots into a chest?
I think there’s a misconception that the exchange merchant is there to help you great your toon faster. It’s not. It is there to prevent fringe situations that are very unlikely but possible from causing undue irritation. 7 is a good number because if you have that many and are missing the one you wanted (statistically unlikely) then you deserve to pick the one you want.
As for it being too hard, sick it up buttercup. I’ve run the ToV heroics only a few times and already have 4 surplus potent shoulders. Enjoy the content a bit before racing to trivialize it.
