Today’s the day that gaming news sites who went on tours of the upcoming Chains of Eternity expansion are able to post their impressions and screenshots. And to go along with these stories is a new video interviewing the talented artists and animators of Chains of Eternity. Commentary I have to be honest. After seeing how energized the EQ2 team were at SOE Live, this video is a bit uninspiring. Everything is given in a flat inflection, and the visuals are mostly slow flythroughs. Where’s the combat? Where’s the epic battles? I’m genuinely excited about Chains of Eternity, and...
Today, November 8th, is officially EverQuest II’s 8th birthday. After the celebrations, long-time players want to know what presents they can expect! Specifically, they want to know — Will the EQ2 team try to outdo past unique Veteran Rewards? Last year’s 8 year item — Veteran Revival — provided a groupwide resurrect which was a bit slow to cast but has still saved more than a few groups and raids from the jaws of death. Earlier today we talked about Call of the Veteran, or which must be known internally as the “Item From Hell”. It was a unique...
Today brought the stunning news that the Jethal Silverwing show which has hosted numerous guests from within Sony Online Entertainment including no less than SOE President John Smedley himself, has come to an end. It is hard to imagine the EQ2 Community without his show, his parodies, and his videos. It is also hard to ignore a trend — With this news, Dellmon and Aliscious‘ EQ2Talk becomes the sole EQ2-specific Podcast. Here’s the announcement from Kithicor.org: They say that “All good things must come to an end”. And, so it is with The Jethal Show. It’s been quite a...
When the EQ2 team came up with the six year Veteran Reward for loyal EQ2 customers, they likely never dreamed that its devilish complexity would haunt them years later. Call of the Veteran is both extremely popular, and frequently maligned for its maddening inconsistency. Although numerous bugs have been fixed with it over the years, the overriding need to prevent exploits has tended to expose strange glitches that take Indiana Jones-level archeology to resolve. At this year’s SOE Live, EQ2 Lead Programmer Zoltaroth made it a point that he wanted Call of the Veteran to operate reliably. A tall...
Holly “Windstalker” Longdale hath tweeted: We’re extending Nights of the Dead until tomorrow night at midnight. We goofed and ended it at noon today (time is hard). Spooky tidings! — Holly Longdale (@WindstalkerEQ2) November 7, 2012
Showcased above is the new EQ2 Character Select screen set in Eidolon Plains. Screenshots of the two Chains of Eternity: Collector’s Edition mercenaries (your choice of Templar or Paladin for each of your characters), as well as the SOE Live mercenary (a Vampire Shadowknight) which became available early this week can be seen in our previous article EverQuest II: Chains of Eternity CE Items, AoD, and SOE Live. We’ve also posted a screenshot of the Collector’s Edition exclusive Wyvern Flying Mount in Ethernere colors.
This should help with Bronze and Silver players wanting to buy subscriptions via Krono. From the Beta Update Notes on the EQ2 Forums: GENERAL Memberships: There will no longer be coin limits on any account types. UPDATE: For those who doubt this is really coming to the Live servers, Massively quoted the news and then the official SonyOnline account retweeted it.
From the EQ2 Forums: EverQuest II is preparing to launch its ninth expansion, Chains of Eternity™! This expansion will take intrepid adventurers into Ethernere. Part of this expansion is the two new overlands in the spirit realm: Obol Plains and the Eidolon Jungle. Nathan “Kaitheel” McCall, Game Designer; Maria Del Casino, Senior Environment Artist; Brandon McDonald, Environment Artist; and Chris Atkins, Character Artist talk about what went into creating the lush environments of Eidolon Jungle and Obol Plains. They may have started with Loping Plains and the Feerrott, but after all the changes, they are almost entirely new zones....
From the EQ2 Forums: GENERAL You can now summon a chest to you. Right-click the chest and choose summon or use the /summon_chest command. If you have no chest to target, the /summon_chest command will give you a list of chests that you can summon to you.
This was posted earlier this week, but in case you forgot… NOTE: StationCash may not be used to purchase Gold Subscription or Expansions.
As we intimated last month, SOE is finally putting its proprietary forum software out to pasture and moving to modern off-the-shelf forum software — XenForo — which is the creation of ex-vBulletin developers. EverQuest completed their transition to their new forums just prior to their Rain of Fear expansion and now EverQuest II has its own move-in date: November 9th. Timing is Everything But wait, you’re thinking, November 9th is smack dab in the middle of the Chains of Eternity beta! Well the EQ2 team have thought of that, and will be keeping the CoE beta forums up and...
Dethdlr and I were very fortunate to make it to SOE Live this year and further, to present a panel on EQ2U, including the new Achievements feature, and talk a bit about what went into creating this site, what we plan for the future, and how SOE is going to shortly be burying us in a lot more data. 😉 The panel starts with Clif Bate, Director of Commerce Services & Web Presence, and Morgan Bonar Lead Web Developer and Web Producer, PlanetSide 2, and then at the 20 minute mark, we get to the EQ2U bits.
From Holly “Windstalker” Longdale‘s twitter: We are excited to announce we’re adding an amazing Ethernere wyvern mount to the CoE Collector’s Edition! and for SOE Live attendees who have been justifiably balking at the $50 upsell to get the Chains of Eternity: Collector’s Edition, it looks like there may be some movement on that price: Also, our Community and Marketing team has exciting announcement coming this afternoon for SOE Live folks looking to upgrade CoE… Glad to see these two changes based on player feedback. UPDATE: Chains of Eternity: Collector’s Edition is now a $20 upgrade for SOE Live...
