If you’ve been hoping for any hint of class tweaks we’ll see in Velious, Xelgad has posted an early preview. Naturally this does not include any mention of new AA lines or other abilities we may gain.
We’re still three months from the Destiny of Velious launch, and more sweeping changes than the ones listed below were made in less time, so take this as an early teaser, subject to change. In short, there is great news for Illusonists and Summoners, and some news for other classes as well.

Seasons Greetings!
We’ve been very busy the last few months, and I haven’t been able to post here as much as I like, but I wanted give you guys a general overview on some of the class adjustments we’ve been working on for Velious. We have several other projects in progress right now, but this is a list of some adjustments we have ready to go so far.
Guardians:
Sentry Watch should no longer have a chance to get you killed.Summoners:
You will soon have a reason to cast your scout pets.Necromancer:
Accelerated Decay will no longer decay the Necromancer, just his (or her) enemies.Illusionists:
We’ve made some significant DPS tweaks, including completely replacing Construct of Reason with a new and improved damage spell. Your DPS should end up pretty well balanced with your Coercer friends.Brigands:
Theives Guild got a complete revamp (no, not a hate transfer), and Beg for Mercy should be improved as well.Rangers:
Your Hawk Attack should work much better, and Coverage should be less affected by lag.Troubador:
Rejuvenating Celebration and Countersong will be seeing some boosts.Summoners, Enchanters and other pet users:
At long last, shared stats will be a reality! Pet effects will be a thing of the past.I may be able to answer some questions for you guys, but I can’t get into too many details, since those details may change before this stuff hits the live servers anyway. I’ll try to update this thread as we’re able to finish up other projects in the near future.
You can discuss this news further on the EQ2 Forums.
I am looking forward to see the shared stats and conjy changes. I’m not a big player of mages, but anything that means there is more change of monk gear ticks all the right boxes with me.
As for the scout pet, this will either be a fight with require a scout pet, or they will actually make them useful.
Woot finally some Brig love, oh wait TG and Beg for Mercy. what about like Band of Thugs, shenanigans, Will to Survive, Amazing Reflexes? will these see any changes as well?
Well I wouldn’t call that Brig love. Changing some of the things you listed, now that would be brig love.
Mikhail Stop! if you provoke them, they’ll nerf us again. Like when they changed Amazing reflexes. /cries, misses 100%
But realy.. TG really really needed to be revamp. Unlike your other suggestions. TG was and is never used.
Band of thugs: give them more Health, Make the different classes of the Band to do more class based attacks while up. “monk peels enemies.. =D”
Shenanigans: take away the defense cost, and replace with 5-10 seconds Dps drop.
Will to : take away the %health debuff, and give it a higher % Crit-bonus based of the brig’s health.
Monks still have Peel hotbarred?
hehe sorry my sarcasim must not have been heavy enough. a change to Thieves Guild and Beg for Mercy is nice i will admit but they are not the only things that need looked at. but yea TG is worthless so thanks in advance for whatever itll be since it cant possibly be any worse but i will say this, please look at the other abilities as well seeing that just TG and BfM will not solve the issues that brigs currently face
word to that Mik.. I’d like to see something better with TG as well.. but it does come in handy for the raid force.. drop it on a bard. What we need most though is better single target dps. Swashies equal us or do better on single target, and then they stomp us on group mobs. If they can balance our two classes I’ll be happy with just that.. yeah I know.. might as well wish they give us 100% AR back as well.. =P
He has been fixing some long standing problems, I’d add in mitigation, multi-attack and crit changes in here on the class balancing.
The normal approach though is to always make a small gradual change, I wonder here though if for some changes its better to get them out in one coherent patch. E.g. if class A is going to have a few abilities nerfed, buffed and gameplay changes, then it would make sense to roll that out in one go. Then the feedback has to be about how the whole class works.
Split up that same set of changes and there will be endless moaning about the nerfs with no regard to the areas things have been buffed.
All in all though I like the work Xelgad is doing, the changes he’s implemented so far are healthy for the game whereas previous devs seemed to just release an endless stream of buffs. I’m looking forward to seeing how far he does go with Velious, although I believe his hands are tied without a level cap increase.
Brigs will never get back what was given out to all the other classes. It would be GAME BREAKING if any class or pet got 100% AE avoidance.
Oh wait, necro pets can have that. Oh, and mystic pets. ermm, ok, bad example.
Will to Survive is a joke. It’s nothing more than a high damage CA, and Cornered does more damage. So does Murderous Rake, Debilitate, Dispatch, and Black Jack. So.. we’ve got 4 other non-AA abilities and.. they do more damage and have better effects than the penultimate AA ability? Good work!
Here’s some tips for all you lurking $0E employees:
-fix the bug with double-up on Barroom Negotiation, whereby the second attack procs exactly NO EFFECTS OF ANY KIND, EVER. That bug has been in place since Double Up has existed.
-redo the Stamina and Wisdom lines, from scratch. We’re not tanks, and trying to make us into half-assed ones is a waste of time. One handed fighting is ridiculous, and even with new itemization and multi-attack changes, it’s still going to suck compared to dual wielding. Stop it.
-Either put “arcane beneficial effects” on mobs, or remove that ancillary effect from Cuss and give us something useful.
-But an ancillary effect on Entangle (it’s useless right now)
-Make shadow slip instant cast.
-How about a group poison buff? Oooo, crazy! Almost like a bard, mage, or priest group proc buff?
-How about a debuff meter so we can tell when a mob is at max debuff for each damage type? All we need is 5 colored lines, one pixel high each.. Not really that hard.
-Damage on boot dagger and walk the plank, at max, is less than half of a normal ability. And yet, other classes… their rank 10’s are actually really good, and in some cases BETTER damage than a normal ability. That’s SO weird!
-It might be nice to be able to use Shenanigans in a raid, ever. How about you make it so while it’s active, we get 100 AE avoid, but the AE triggers it? We take zero damage from the AE, but it fires. Holy sheep dip, thinking outside the box! Where will it end?
Lastly, given how absolutely useless the Thugs are, tying them into AE avoidance (like, say, one of them at a time sacrifices themselves for group AE avoidance, for the duration of their short existence) might be nice.
Your welcome, the consulting fee is in the mail!
Psst, we’re two months out from Velious now. Not three months.
they dont give not one rats ass about brigs i left the game months ago and been watching the updates and notes never once do they even bother with brigs now they tweaking crap tht is usuless OMG big deal TG wow how about putting us back in line with the swashies who are WAY OPED
