Holly “Windstalker” Longdale has posted on the EQ2 Forums:
Hello again intrepid Norrathians,
We are inching closer to our February 26 Update and we have some news to share.
In my Producer Letter in our forums on Feb. 5, I listed the features we had planned for our Feb. 26 update. One of them I referred to as a Loyalty Program that centered around daily, weekly, and monthly objectives. We have been working on the feature and don’t feel it’s up to snuff yet. We want more time for testing, feedback, and iteration to ensure it’s fun. That in mind, we are going to hold this back for a while.
That said, we hope to have an unexpected addition to the February Update!
Guilds, take notice! We are introducing Guild Achievements to track and reward your guild’s accomplishments. In the new guild Achievements window, we list raid targets and their point value and we will track — including time stamps down to the second – the achievements for your guild. And if your guild wants to participate by including its achievements in our data feed, the information will be shared with the community at large. We are working on solutions for displaying the data and sharing this news with the fan sites.
Sincerely, as always,
Holly Longdale
Producer, EQII
We have this for you.. oh wait, we are working on it. We have this for you…oh wait, we are working on it. Take note, we are doing this for you…oh wait, we are working on it.
Would it be more cost effective to fire the producer and hire a myhna bird?
@ electri
or at least fire the producer and rehire ex staff to getthe game back on track
I wonder how the Guild Achievements will work. Will it count if only one member of the raid is from your guild? Or will a majority of the raid need to be guild members? It almost sounds like Sony is replacing the late GuildProgress.com
I would expect a percentage of the raid to have to be there. And keep in mind, they’re just publishing data. It’s up to fan sites to take that data and run with it. Some sites may not even use the data and do some other method.
I don’t know why they felt the needed to redo vet rewards, All the needed was some good thinking on 8 and 9 year rewards. Instead they decided to waste all that time, and now they have nothing to show for it.
And then we run into a Ship of Theseus issue. A guild exists at any given single moment in time as a the sum of its current members, but something like a kill tracker/achievement list is a historical record, not of the guild(by name) but of the raiding force within.
If “these 24 people killed this mob, the GUILD NAME gets the achievement”, but if over a a week/month/year, most of the guild leaves/quits and the guild restocks with fresh off the newbie island players, are they the same guild(by name) that recorded that kill? Same flaw with using guildhall heads as record of kills.
It’s not redoing vet rewards it’s adding something different in addition to vet rewards.
With what SOE left as ‘good enough’ in the form of EQ2 players I’m not exactly looking forward to what they come up with for this…

That may be but I’d rather that than:
“We have this for you . . . oh wait, it doesn’t work. We fixed it for you . . . oh wait, that didn’t work. We fixed it again for you . . . no, that didn’t work. We fixed it again for you . . . damn, that just caused more problems. . . No, really, we do HAVE it for you, it’s there. See what we do for you . . . Oh, the fix? Don’t worry, we got this. But it’s there . . . for you. Enjoy!”
@Feldon, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was instead tied to Guild Leader/Officer or just a flat anyone in guild. I kind of doubt the percentage of raid being from a guild thing.
As someone from one of Mistmoore Permafrost’s premiere Herd-O-Cats guilds, where several of us raid (on mains or alts) with various other raid outfits…yeah. That’s going to get messy.
And really, they need to do something with the vet stuff, the 9 year was lame as all get-out. Especially in comparison to previous years. Mind you, any character I ever generate automatically has choice of free housing and mount and any number of any goodies from now on, so as a member of the Norrathian 1%, I can deal… 😉
So you rather have rushed out and broken content?

ACHIEVEMENTS
When killing a raid target your guild will be awarded a guild achievement if your raid force consists of at least 2/3rds from the same guild.
2/3s sounds fair, sucks for the alliances, but then again, its GUILD achievements that they are trying to measure and track.
No guild will worry about the kill after the main ones kill the mob. Might as well make it one group. I doubt any alliance is likely to be in contention for the lead. I wouldn’t expect the 2/3 to linger.
Are any of the top 5 guilds alliances? Top 10?
