Here are your update notes for today, Wednesday May 30, 2012:

POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION

Skyshrine

  • All Solo instances in Skyshrine are now a 90 minute lock out, same as heroic instances.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • The achievements “Rallos’ Chosen” and “Vindicator Soren’s Demise” should now update for all members of the raid force that kills him regardless of range. This change should also be retroactive if you have ever defeated him and were not awarded the achievement.

ITEMS

  • Dozekar’s Head is no longer lore.

Hmm so what would happen if we put the heads back in our currency window, anyone want to try? 😉

I transferred one from my shared bank to my currency tab last night. I thought they fixed that issue more than a week ago?

DoV came out, meant to be hard so that people would group up and put forth an effort to succeed; then, they nerfed everything so that casuals could have some entry into the content.

DoV raid bosses were impossible with the gear they dropped; then, they actually made them killable, robbing raiders of tough achievements and boasting rights.

SOE makes an item LORE so that they can artificially make content last; then, a few months later they remove the tag so that more people can store up currency for their alts.

Are they going to keep that same mantra going forward? Artificial content extensions, and then nerf to include more people?

Only took 57 days for SOE to implement my Heroic Solo 90-minute lock suggestion. Yay. I think.

It’s one of the most consistent things about SOE.

@Vortix: You really think marking a currency item as LORE HEIRLOOM was an attmept to artificially make content last and not a screw up instead? If you’re right, it has to be one of the dumbest methods in recent memory.

If they had marked it as NO-TRADE and marked the items you purchase with it as NO-TRADE as well, I might see where you’re coming from. But when the item is HEIRLOOM and the items you purchase with it are HEIRLOOM as well? All that does is annoy you until you hit 50k faction on a single character. Then you can buy the items for your main and alts as you get the heads.

In my opinion, there are only two possible reasons they marked this as LORE HEIRLOOM currency in the first place:

    1. They screwed up.
    2. They were suffering from an acute case of rectal cranial inversion.

They were suffering from an acute case of rectal cranial inversion.

By this point, I’m afraid the proper diagnosis is chronic rectal cranial inversion.

And no, that does not imply planning meetings at 4:20 pm Pacific. Though admittedly, it would explain a lot.

I thought there was going to be some big announcement today?

Yeah there is supposedly some “big news” coming down the pipes today.

I bet it is the 30 days until alaplaya and the SC going full blown Pay2Win.

I do not see it being anything ‘signifigant’, not with E3 around the bend.

Maybe SJ is out, Howard Stringer was supposed to be replaced, that timeline is up little hoopla about it, it was a phase out process, or at least that is what it seemed to be as announced.

On February 1, 2012, Sony announced that Stringer will step down as President and CEO, effective April 1, to be replaced by Kazuo Hirai, Executive Deputy President and Chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment.[11] Stringer will remain chairman of Sony Corporation until June, whereupon he will become Chairman of the Board.

Maybe Hirai is fed up with the constant disgrace that is being brought upon them by the current circus act they have going on. I know that NOWHERE that I have ever worked in my life would keep anyone that displayed the level of contempt and incompetence that SJ has shown as long as they have, maybe that this transition is complete he is out, and will announce his departure.

    What else could it be?

EQNext? Nah, not with E3 this close.

Wasn’t the thing today supposed to be a “press leak”? Then the big announcement happens on the first day of E3? This is from the webcast last week:

We have a press leak going out on the 30th, and there’s a big announcement happening on the first day of E3. It’s all related to EQ2. Watch out for it.

Reporting in here to say we have the PR managing the elite infoz. =)

I did look into it for you though. PR says that due to unforseen circumstances, the infoz in question will be delayed by a day or two. You guys are also correct that it involves our presence at E3. Can’t sneak anything past you! Unfortunately, I cannot offer any further information, other than I think that you may enjoy what’s coming.

I can positively, absolutely rule out any major announcements about EQ Next. That game is behind heavily locked, lead-lined, barbed-wire fenced security. Even folks here at the studio can’t get a look in (including Dwarven veterans!). Sorry!

They are doing nothing short of attention whoring at this point, dangling a carrot. 10 to 1 this incoming info will either be concerning the alaplayer tripe or an announced date for the Qeynos downgrade that in the end will be delayed and rolled into another money grab ‘expansion’

The timers are 90 minutes, but the mission given hasn’t yet been told … “chumps are SOL”

Missions not being 90 minutes is normal. Just like the dailies everywhere else.

Well while that may be true I’m pretty sure you can not get the portal unless you have a current mission.

This is the kind of shit that happens when something goes to the test server at 5 PM and live the very next AM.

Same with the Poets Palace DM, it is barely even functional, should and would be an embarassment to any and all involved. They don’t give a rats behind about anything they do right now, it just continues to get worse, these are not simply small glitches or oversights this is from a total lack of care and consideration towards the playerbase.

Basically sums up everything they do anymore.I’m subbed til December,I try playing now and then, and i see quest rewards from the new zones that make zero sense, like a lore dagger i already got earlier.I cry a little inside, then log off.

I hope it’s something to alleviate the boredom many people are feeling with 92/320 characters where the only thing to do other than crafting is hunt in SS for dragon heads.

If you are a casual player not in a raid guild, or only can field an x2, then you are really limited in content right now. It’s convenient for SOE, though, because we all just go make new alts and spend station cash on them. Clever!
