  1. Chris,
I seldom post a direct reply to someone else’s comment unless they display an extrodinary ability to highlight their ignorance.

The EQ2 designers and developers are some of the BEST in the industry, and don’t let bugs or designs that are too complex for you to understand let you think otherwise. Additionally, they CARE about the state of the game.

That said, they are dealing with a nearly impossible situation that they are slowly chipping away at. They have short delivery timeframes and an enormous amount of legacy code (also produced under accelerated timeframes..which means design and documentation may be a little…atypical). Add to that the fact that there are a LARGE number of people collaboratively hacking on the same code base, and it’s not difficult to understand how increased complexity of the code yields more bugs and unexpected outcomes.

If you want to blame producers for stupid decisions on the direction the game takes, or their CEO for changes made across all SOE games…then great! But when you start picking on their developers and designers, you should take a moment to talk about things you know something about.

I WELCOME any designer/programmer out there who does this as a profession (and isn’t a liar) to tell me that dealing with rushed code from multiple sources on an 8+ year old code base is easy to extend without creating almost as many issues as you fix.

Hate the politics and decisions, not the people who implement it for their paycheck.

  2. I dont know how this live event is handled but there is a very easy fix so that people do not complete it too fast.
You cannot do more than one step per day or week… A simple sentence from the npcs involved like “this process takes time please hold until next week” would fix this.

  3. melpheos,

I have a better idea. Complete the quest as many times as you want, but the event itself is limited to a maximum percentage per hour. Let’s say 0.5%. I have posted some suggestions to the developers.

  4. @Feldon : yes end result would be that Sony would be able to choose exactly how long the task takes to complete. Too long : increase the percentage, too fast : decrease it.

  5. Seriously, they should just do that. I want my items off the merchant, I don’t want SoE to tell me to bad, you can’t get that mount because it cost 200 tokens, and you aren’t allowed to do the event anymore times.

Don’t tell me I can’t get my items off the merchant because the event is going by to fast, please just cap the percent and let us players keep getting our tokens! BTW, players think it is the easiest way of obtaining velium shards, so maybe that was a mistake? I personally, just want the mounts and cosmetic/house furniture items on that, I won’t be buying a single velium shard…

  6. “The amount of ore obtained from smelting down a piece of Drunder loot has been doubled.”

Wait, what..? “Smelting down loot”? I think I’ve missed something here, can anyone explain please?
