EverQuest II’s twelfth expansion comes in not two but three editions, including a spendy Premium edition at $139.99. This higher level option adds an Equipment Upgrade bundle (the equivalent of six “gems” or whatever the equivalent in the expansion is), a Weapon Adjustment bundle (change the damage type or delay of up to 3 weapons), and a Darkhaven Cavedrifter mount which, through gameplay, can be upgraded. A recent update to the Terrors of Thalumbra beta, currently ongoing for those who pre-ordered any version of the expansion, has revealed the in-game Achievement which upgrades this mount.
Completing the “Darkhaven Cavedrifter Upgrade” achievement requires the Darkhaven Cavedrifter mount, which comes with the Terrors of Thalumbra Premium edition, and from completing the expansion’s Signature quest line the “Underdepths Saga” which by itself rewards the Scytalis, of the Ever Deep mount. To be clear, by completing the Signature quest, you get Scytalis. If you bought the Premium edition, then you also get Zhuyon as detailed below:
So, if you buy the premium edition and complete the signature line, you get the Zhuyon, the Everburning mount – did I read that correctly?
Correct. I’ll clarify that in the article.
Does the paid mount have the best stats in the game?
It seems likely that challenging raid content would drop better mounts.
This breakdown of what each edition comes with shows the same flying mount coming with both the Collector’s and Premium editions. So do you have to buy Premium to do this achievement?
Of course, that was supposed to be ‘edition’ not addition. Don’t know how that happened.
Both versions come with the Cavedrifter. The Premium edition also comes with the Darkhaven Cavedrifter which has more cowbell and lets you complete the achievement to get Zhuyon.
I see the Darkhaven listed under Premium on there now. Strange, but I could swear it wasn’t there yesterday.
Ha! I love that the level requirement for Zhyuon is 40. What’s the logic behind making the requirement lvl 40 when you need to do lvl 100 quests to get it? Even if you could manage it, you won’t get the stats until 100 anyway.
More flying mounts…bleah.
Usable to fly at level 40. That’s new.
FYI there are better mounts. I managed to find one that dropped from heroics – Golaru, Without Color.
If the premium mount upgrades again when you complete all the heroics then it may be better. But if that’s it, then it’s definately not BIS. Personally I think that’s correct, otherwise it’s a kind ofpay to win.
Even now in his starting form he’s a lot better than my 10,000 ferrin mount.
Could anybody get show me a picture of Zhuyon?
