UPDATE from Kander: This was an unintentional change. We have a fix coming for it ASAP. This will be fixed on Thursday. We’re not sure if this is just a glitch or an intended change, but every mob killed in Dungeon Maker zones now awards just 1 XP regardless of level or difficulty. Frankly we’re surprised that enough people visit player-decorated dungeons to have noticed this, but we’ve received several reports and there is also an active thread on the forums.
According to a player who goes by Liched on the EQ2 Forums, SOE just registered two trademarks on July 2nd. One, The Altar of Malace, would seem to feed into an existing storyline in EverQuest related to Neriak. The other trademark — The Darkened Sea — may be the name of the upcoming EverQuest II expansion, a whole other game, or just a red herring which doesn’t amount to a released product any time soon. The next EverQuest II expansion, expected to be released this November, will raise the level cap to 100 (as per the EQ2 Insider webcast)...
From the EQ2 Forums: WEEKLY FEATURE New Ethereal or Artifact weapons can now be found within Tears of Veeshan mission Crates. GENERAL Fixed a bug where dev picks would temporarily disappear from the housing leaderboards. POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION The Fabled Deathtoll Cruor Alluvium’s Aqueous Attunement spell will now allow players to cast spells and use skills while moving. Cruor Alluvium’s Waning Skill debuff will no longer trigger off of pet deaths. Temple of Veeshan: Dreadscale’s Maw Several new accessories have been added to the treasure tables in Dreadscale’s Maw. Bosses slain within the zone should now reward status....
From Kyle “Kander” Vallee on the EQ2 Forums: So everyone knows, we are adding a good amount of new items to Dreadscale’s Maw. These will be similar in quality to the items we put in Deathtoll. Practiced and Uplifting effects, etc. We are shooting to have this stuff in as soon as possible, we’ve been working on it for a couple weeks. No solid ETA yet. Soon. Happy 4th!
From the EverQuest II twitter: Summer Ethereal Weapons are coming SOON! Check out this sneak peek! [Luperza] — EverQuest II (@everquestii) July 3, 2014
It’s been just over a week since Fabled Deathtoll, a level 95 x4 raid zone opened in Norrath. While the zone and enemies may be familiar territory for Kingdom of Sky veterans, the boss battle strategies have gained a few twists. But perhaps most surprising about this revisited zone is the way loot is awarded. The EQ2 team seem to tried out several new approaches, and so far, the response has been mixed. Instead of the typical drops off each named, certain names drop one-use recipe books that create powerful items. Other enemies drop new cyan-colored adornments. I won’t try...

Confirmed: hotel has “increased nodes” in ballroom in an attempt to improve smart phone access – to be tested at the event! Initial tests by staff are positive, but huge numbers of people do weird things to cell reception. Confirmed: Player Got Talent auditions to be accepted SOON –...

Tomorrow, July 2nd, SOE’s accounting, commerce, and forum and game logins will be offline for approximately 2 hours. We’re going to assume this is part of the ProSieben migration back to SOE. From the SOE forums: Attention players: we will perform maintenance beginning at 6:00 AM PDT* on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. We expect this maintenance to take approximately two hours. This will impact the following SOE services: • Account management • Commerce functions, including purchases • Game, web and forum logins (between 6:30 and 7:00 AM) The complete service window could last as long as four hours and...
