  1. 1 ‘Playing in Battlegrounds with all levels’ OR ‘PVP changes’;
    But my highest toon on naggy is like lvl 12 so doubt it would be fun to be ganked by twinked alts all day.

    2 Raids / Other games…

  2. They should use the polls for actual valid questions.. Like, Is the Fighter changes a good idea?

    But then again, they will just make data up and say that there was an overwhelming response of ‘YESSSS!!! DO IT!!!!’ like they did with the health/mana potions and self resurrects for $ation ca$h

  3. @ Shame

    According to Aeralik when he did the original fighter revamp, it was forced by the upper management, they thought it was the best way to balance the game instead of doing minor changes to healers and support to create a balance. Then when the fighter revamp was universally hated they blamed Aeralik for it and naturally let him take the blame even though it wasn’t his idea.

    The same thing will happen this time, except Xelgad (If that’s whose doing it) doesn’t understand what EQ2 is or what fighters need. The thing about SoE, is they think the players don’t understand what good game design is, they don’t take feedback and haven’t since Bruce was Producer. That’s why EQ3 will ultimately fail, SoE is a horribly ran company, companies like that don’t work in the modern industry.

    (I know my point wasn’t obvious, but what I meant is, the developer himself probably has no say-so in the revamp, he probably couldn’t even interact with the community for feedback if he wanted to, I really doubt SoE cares about it’s customers opinion in this case, just the same as before)

      This story gets spread around a lot on Flames. I have a question for those who believe this is the events as they happened (based entirely on Chris’ comments):

      Which is more likely:

      A) SOE upper management specifically spelled out exactly what the fighter changes should be, including making EQ2 a “taunt” game with DPS and combat having almost no bearing on the game for Fighters, huge nerfs to hate transfers, and just a ton of changes across the board.

      B) SOE upper management said to Chris “Ok, we are getting a ton of complaints about Fighters and we can’t ignore it anymore. Fix it.” 6 months later “Sacre bleu! What you came up with is so terrible that the EQ2 playerbase has rallied against it almost as strongly as the SWG playerbase rallied against the NGE. We’re cancelling it.”

      I’ll go with B. It just seems absolutely impossible that SOE upper management was even AWARE of the fighter problems beyond the most rudimentary understanding such that they could make SPECIFIC directives about what to change.

      Aeralik was also behind the primitive Gear Scaling that would have made leveling a nightmare as your gear all got worse before you could replace it. A raid force that leveled from 80 to 81 would have been less effective killing the same mobs. It was terribad, and terribly explained.

  4. The way he spoke he seemed quite aware that there were far better ways to handle it, but you have a point, he may not have realized that until after the revamp was already done and they didn’t want to give him a second chance.

    Either way I still have less faith in Xelgad who seems to have no clue what he’s doing and I still believe SoE has no interest in community feedback. :\
