It takes Sony 2+ months to fix something that should have never been broken?
lol.
Actually it reads more like that it took them 2+ months to verify that something is broken.
I think this is more took 2+ months to figure out what was causing it to break. Now they get to figure out (again) how to fix it.
Funny ting is I can reproduce it quite regularly, and fix it by logging in and out. What is funny is it happens on more than just feathers.
feathers and books are merely the things it affects most for me. It very rarely affects anything else but there is times when a freeblood cloud of bats is a cloud of white lights instead.
They’ll manage to get a fix for it sooner or later. It’s not something i get worked up about really.
It isn’t game breaking by any means, but it IS annoying when you see an npc with a glowing light over their head and you can’t tell if it’s a feather or a book . . .
similar problem happens at the end boss in the SF Library dungeon, where you need to climb a spiral staircase of giant books. Sometimes those books cannot be seen and you are climbing a glowing invisible spiral.
The bug has spread to other things as well. Some objects in certain zones are now showing as the 2d white dots. The parrot, pixie, and faedrake that sit on your shoulder are sometimes showing as the same icon, as well as a bunch of other things.
last time I entered my Lavastorm home, even some of the candles there had turned into that fuzzy balls of light.
So what really happens is – the game looses certain textures during play. The texture is gone, but the lighting remains on the object which turns the object into nothing but a lightbulb.
how can this happen? I bet it’s some kind of memory leak/overflow – meaning EQ2 has a reserved amount of memory for textures, and with introducing AOD and adding many more textures, they are loosing the old one, like pointer pointing into nothingness instead of a texture, or textures being dropped.
Still would like to know why i’ve been unable to go to my GH since AOD without crashing.I paid 40$ to be unable to visit my GH lol.
If you are literally crashing every time you go to a specific zone, I would try deleting some of the guild hall files in your EQ2 paks folder and re-download them and see if that helps.
