  1. Geez! I mean, even where I work we have our little in-house videos where people who don’t really know how to use a video camera film people who don’t really know how to act on camera saying stuff that hasn’t actually been scripted by anyone that knows how to write…

But it only gets shown to other people working for the same company, who have no other choice than to sit and watch it because they’re being paid.

I just watched this in my own time. I feel really stupid now.

  2. Rofl, wow ok so I know they want to get the word out. But honestly a first year film student could do better. How unprofesional does soe want to get. Well at least i got one usefull tip about beastlords.

  3. Those were neat to see. The only thing that bugged me was how the beastlord warder pet never fit into the view window by default, and he had to keep resizing it. Maybe they could have fixed that? 🙂

  4. Ok, the beastlord video was at least clear enough … but the merc video — a) I can’t see what you are doing on your video screen, b) WHAT does the unique billy doll merc bring to the group — why is this a secret? stop beating around the bush, please and c) find them in the world how? Are they a quest? hidden? can you buy them from a merchant? Do they move around? You know, keeping it a secret does not make me want to buy AoD more.

Perhaps our beta testers can let the readers know.

  5. @ Kwill the Mercs are just normal NPCs around the world. Some are in preset locations, others seem to be placed at random i towns and villages across Norrath. They have normal names, but where their guild/job title would be, it lists them as “mercenary for hire”. Prices to hire them and upkeep costs vary by merc.

Not sure exactly what the Billy doll does (I never got to try one) but the rare mercs tend to be better equipped and better at their respective roll in the group. This comes at a cost though as the better the merc, the more they are going to charge you. I would think special things like Billy are more for the novelty and uniqueness than anything else, but I’m sure there is more to it than that.

  6. Man, this is decidedly low budget even by SOE’s standards. They couldn’t even be bothered to record the video using FRAPS, record an audio track using a microphone setup, and do some basic video editing.

It would have taken all of 10 minutes to do the whole video.

  7. I can’t believe how much people complain about the most irreverent things on this website. I don’t see how this is unprofessional or how that would even influence what they’re showing in the least bit. I don’t see the point in complaining about video editing. This video has clear sound, clear picture, displayed what was intended, basically all that was intented to be shown.
Calm down people and accept the info they are sharing, people obviously can’t stop asking about it.
    Get over yourselves.

  8. The videos seemed alright to me, I watched them both and was happy to get some info. I was sent my beta invite tonight…. too little too late. I’m no longer even slightly interested in beta testing 0 conent. Thought I was decently happy to see some info on a couple of features I’ll never use because I won’t ever buy AoD…. Never. Doesn’t mean I have no interest in the features, but $40? Please, I need some real content / features for that amount. 20 aa’s, reforging (sucks worse than I had anticpatied), BL’s, nothing I need. My money will stay in my pocket. But the videos, imho, aren’t as bad as others make them out, I thought they were fine, not lacking in professionalsim like the last podcast..

  9. i liked the video, if was kind of “on the fire amateur shot” just a bunch of dev thinking : “oki maybe we should adress the crow, Domino grab a cam iam going in!!”

no what bothered me its the hanging in the game : X small freeze here and there and its on a dev computer, well i hope its one or not actually.
