Two weeks after the release of Destiny of Velious we see a rather hefty patch that tackles many of the issues we’ve seen on the EQ2 Forums with dungeon and quest progression.
After the jump, your March 8, 2011 Update Notes…
USER INTERFACE
- Fixed a bug and optimized the AA Respec window.
- Third-party UI’s that have customized this window will need to be updated.
- Fixed an issue with NPC casting bars sometimes getting cleared before the spell completed.
- Fixed an alignment problem with some NPC names in the Target and Implied target window.
ZONE PROGRESSION / POPULATION
- Exploring the flight pads in Great Divide and Eastern Wastes should now always give you access to that destination. Updated locations include Scar Bridge, Ry’Gorr Keep, Caverns of Living Stone, and the entrance to Kael Drakkel.
- Charmed Brontotherium Bulls can no longer do percentage-based damage to heroic & epic targets. Several other creatures with the same problem have also been fixed.
Great Divide
- The Pirate Garb rewarded from Dort Lumrick should all now be heirloom.
- Portals to switch between different instances of Great Divide have been added to Fina’s Retreat, Thurgadin Docks, and the Ringwar Battlefield.
- Fleshrender will indicate which player she’s aiming her Screech ability at.
- Zone sweeper abilities that target a random player on their hatelist will no longer attempt to target dead players.
Eastern Wastes
- Portals to switch between different instances of Eastern Wastes have been added to the Howling Pass and Nipik’s Haven.
- Zone sweeper abilities that target a random player on their hatelist will no longer attempt to target dead players.
- Brakerouk in Eastern Wastes will now display the correct broker search when hailed.
Thurgadin
- The bartenders in Thurgadin now offer alcoholic drinks in celebration of Brew Day! Thurgadin rejoices!
Tower of Frozen Shadow
- Players can no longer use the Mirror of the Shadows to gain entrance into the TOFS zones without having someone that has correct access to those zones.
Tower of Frozen Shadow (Raid)
- VhalSera should no longer run through walls when pathing around his room.
- VhalSera’s Reflections can no longer be charmed.
- VhalSera should no longer hit players with Freezing Spike if he is within range of the spike when it goes off.
- VhalSera should no longer summon copies of himself below 1/3rd of his health.
- Players must now progress the quest in order to obtain the raid debuff needed for Challenge Mode encounters.
- When a zombie is killed in the Vethilot the Corpsemonger encounter players will now have 5 seconds to destroy the corpse before Vethilot start gaining in strength. He will still instantly gain strength from player’s corpses.
Tower of Frozen Shadow: Umbral Halls
- Narmek Berreka should now remember which pieces of his armor have been removed after his encounter resets.
Tower of Frozen Shadow: Haunt of Syl’Tor
- Adds spawned from the shadow doors in the Tserrina encounter should hit for slightly less and no longer reflect spells.
Tower of Frozen Shadow: Shadowed Corridors
- Xalgoti should be able to focus on one target for a more significant amount of time.
- The blades summoned by Tserrina in the Tome of Ages Past encounter should no longer do quite as much damage.

Kraytoc’s Fortress (Challenge Raid)
- Brendegor Bitelimb in the Challenge Mode Kraytoc’s Fortress should now drop loot when the encounter is completed.
Hold of Rime: The Fortress Spire
- Abelbrow the Bookie and Quanth Coldblade should no longer drop loot when the encounter resets.
- Dockmaster Jit’coel should once again use his special tactics to defeat players.
- Bouont Crushingfist has had his health and heal rate lowered.
Hold of Rime: The Ascent
- Witchdoctor Vuh’Duh’s death beam is now less erratic.
- Players should no longer be stuck with the Icy Demeanor buff after wiping to Witchdoctor Vuh’Duh.
Icy Fingers
- Beware! Undead in the Icy Fingers are now more aware of players attempting to sneak by them.
Tombs of Night
- Fixed a bug where Rhayn Tdax in the Tombs of Night would become so enraged when attacked that he would crash the zone.
ABILITIES
Illusionist
- Theorems now deals damage based on the level of the spell, not the level of the caster.
ITEMS
- Nipik’s Cane can now be bought from Shady Swashbuckler in Nektulos Forest, by players who have completed the quest “A New Calling”.
- Nipik’s Cane is now no-transmute and no-sacrifice.
- The Plate versions of the Woe and Resolve sets of armor have had their appearance corrected
- The Barrier of Voltaic Destruction now has a new appearance!
- The Fleshwound and Seafury armor crates are now correctly flagged heirloom instead of no trade.
- The Stormfeather Brood Guardian mount can now be converted to a house item.
- The following War Runes will now trigger on both spell and melee attacks:

TRADESKILLS
- Ruffin should now offer “Badger of Success” to anybody who has completed “It’s A Long Way Down”.
- The names of the recipes for the simple commonlands and antonican style tapestries have been corrected, and now match the names of the tapestries they create.
- Alchemist level 24 tradeskill writs no longer request Smoldering Fists II as one of the spell options.
QUESTS
Public Quests
- A chest option for brawlers is now available from Public Quests.
- Narandi the Enraged now has an appropriate number of hitpoints, so that he can survive more than a minute versus multiple raids. This should make it easier for large numbers of players to get into the fight before it’s over.
- Another issue that could get the Storm Gorge dwarves stuck has been fixed.
- Tinkered heals & buffs for the Storm Gorge dwarves can no longer be resisted.
- Public quest chests now scale up in size when higher difficulties are cleared, to make them easier to click.
- The anti-slacker threshold has been raised on all PQ’s.
- Greater Transmuter’s Stones no longer drop. The contents of Transmuter’s Caches and Hoards have been increased to compensate.
Gorowyn
- Gorowyn city writs should have a proper category.
Great Divide
- It should no longer be possible to break the encounter with Captain Frozenshard and then kill his pet to update the quest “Greatslasher Ghost Removal.”
- The magical focus for the quest “Power From the Tower” has been moved outside. This is to make the quest more easily soloable, and bring this quest in line with the other Deepwater Circle quests.
- Drammind Gul will now only offer his quests to those vampires who possess the Cloud of Bats ability.
Eastern Wastes
- The suspicious barrels that must be destroyed for the quest “Contagion Elimination” respawn much faster now.
- The Duhjalm attackers that are spawned for the quest “Swog’s Salutary Salve” have had their difficulty lowered.
- The Duhjalm attackers that are spawned for the quest “Swog’s Salutary Salve” will no longer linger within Ry’Gorr Keep forever.
- The Duhjalm attacker that is spawned for the quest “Of Mice and Menhir” has had its difficulty lowered.
Thurgadin
- The quest “Scrying on Thurgadin” is now able to be completed by a solo character.
Kael Drakkel
- The quest “The Ragebourne Network: Noble’s District” should refer to the correct NPC when the first stage is completed.
- Added sparkle effect to the Kromzek plans within Kael Drakkel necessary for the quest “The Fallen Swords: Here, There Be Giants”, so they are easier to locate.
Iceshard Keep
- Mairi Hendry should no longer offer a repeat quest.
Tower of Frozen Shadow: Shadowed Corridors
- The quests “Tserrina’s Strife” and “A Ruinous Bath” can now be completed more than once.
Tower of Frozen Shadow (Raid)
- Defeating Tserrina for the quest “Freeing the Dain” should now correctly update.
Forgotten Pools
- The quest “The Immortal Pest” should no longer be on a timer. However, players will still need to complete the timed event at the end of Forgotten Pools to get the final update.
Hold of Rime: The Ascent
- Quest update crystals for Hold of Rime: The Ascent – Growing Alarm no longer disappear even at short distances.
Heritage
- The turtle spirits encountered in the Essence of a Prophet quest are now at the proper difficulty.
I’ll be interested to see how this fight works now. We kill this guy every night but it’s not very fun.
They solved 5 and a half of the bug reports i filed in this update i see. They still have not given the thurgadin bartenders the call of the inebriated function.
Did Xalgoti tonight. With coercer stuns, he was totally locked down to the tank. Like butter. 😉
