So those are the guys that ruined EverQuest 2…
I think its good that they got a taster of some of the itemisation changes out there early with the critical chance thing. Since it’s going to soften the shock of encountering them in game, and it also gets the developers reason for doing so out there first.
I think this is important for setting the right argument, otherwise in the vaccum of reason all kinds of spurious guesses at explanations come up, which only ends up feeding the QQ on the forums instead of any reasonable debate.
Something that I believe explains the success of the WoW team to get their much larger gameplay changes over (including item degradation) while in the past EQ2 forums at least seem to be awash with QQ threads mostly full of posters that don’t even recognise the problem the devs are trying to fix (not saying every change they’ve proposed as been good though!).
I’m loving the idea of the pre and post launch events, I’m still just not believing that flying mounts won’t appear on the marketplace (they haven’t said that they wont!), but they’re not giving any indications that they will, I’m guessing they’ll leave it a GU or three after DoV and we’ll let Johnny Ball reveal all.
Overall while this videocast took a little longer to get going then the last one, I did like it, the ideas of the post launch events sound great fun.
