      1. It is a feature (not one I like though for RP reasons) and one that will be welcomed by a lot of (most of?) players.

My point, though, is the dropping of the “Weakly Feature” tag, that marketing nonsense announced by Dave Georgeson was always a farce.

    1. While Heidi did indicate that there will be breaks in the weekly feature, the broker was this week’s feature. From the Producer’s Letter:

Here’s the schedule we have at the moment. During late September through November, we’ll be adjusting our weekly content update schedule with a few breaks so we can focus on the expansion beta and launch:

      · September
o Sept 9: PvP Deathmatch Zone: Balance of Theer
o Sept 16: Broker anywhere for All Access members
o Sept 23: Performance Updates. This includes code updates that have shown performance improvements in the player clients and servers.
      o Sept. 30: 5 Level-Agnostic Dungeons & Grandmasters released!

          1. 1. It is not a weakly feature, it is an item on the patch notes, notice the lack of label.
            2. As I said I know weight/encumbrance is a ‘dead horse’, but I would like to see it back, even if I am a lone voice on this. BTW 2005 is way to early a date, try 2010 (although I think it may have been 2011).
            3. IF the ‘free lunch’ was from one of those US fast food chains, yes I would and I would also drop it in the bin.

          2. I’m pretty sure that if the producer lists the item on their calendar of weekly features in their producer’s letter, it’s a weekly feature. But who am I to argue?

          3. Weight/encumbrance was a non issue in EQ2 long before 2010. In fact I don’t think I’ve ever worried about it since about 6 months after launch.

The only reason it was an issue then was that the biggest containers you could get were boxes and their disadvantage was that they weighed 100 lbs. No problem if you were a tank, could be an impact if you were a wizard. Still, the size advantage wasn’t that great so most people just didn’t care.

And the RP argument for not having broker anywhere? Really? How does my being able to access a broker window from anywhere impact your RP experience? You don’t actually play the broker, you’ll probably never see me standing next to the broker in the world. If you think it breaks RP to pop up the window wherever you are then don’t do it.

          4. At launch I was playing a Guard, and then a couple months into it I started a Wizard and I immediately discovered the problem with box weight! That and the weight of currency; since currency didn’t automatically exchange itself, and it had weight, I was always going back to Nettlesville to exchange my 700 copper for 7 silver so I was no longer encumbered. Those were (not) the days.

  1. Although I completely agree with the role play aspects that have been given, this is not the only reason this broker anywhere has implications.
Now this game is about people plain and simple, no one wants to run around in an mmo when it’s just you, what this effectively does is empty the already empty cities and broker areas of people, already people spend most of their time in guild halls and rarely see others.
Over the years I have seen many of these convenience changes made, examples quick travel, shards, flying mounts, pay to win items, ect.
The game is pushing people further apart as far as interaction and immersion.

    1. That argument would have held up in the days before guild halls. As the game stands now I’m either in my guild hall or out in the world somewhere. I have access to the broker, banker, mender, writ giver, crafting stations, fuel merchant, someone to sell to. I had all of that prior to them adding in the ability to access the broker from anywhere.

Yet even with all of that I still see quite a few people online. Many are standing around quest givers in Vesspyr or Obul and accessing the bank/broker/mender there instead of just gating back to the guildhall to do so. Adding in the ability to pop up the broker window won’t drive those people away since they’re mainly there to pick up the daily/weekly quests and happen to be doing a little banking/brokering while they’re waiting for the rest of their raid/group to form up.

And I still have to question how my ability to use this feature impacts your RP experience. I can understand that you using it would have an impact but then if you feel it’s not RP to use the popup broker well…don’t use it. See, RP issues resolved.

As for the game pushing people apart that’s a specious argument at best. Go play EvE online for a year or so. In that game you do NOT want to be within visible range of strangers outside of the newbie zones yet they still manage to have a very strong community. I don’t need to be able to see your avatar in the game world to interact with you.

  2. Anyone else notice an issue when purchasing something using the “anywhere” broker that ever so often you purchase an item and it deducts the coin but says “The pricing on this item has changed.” – the coin is gone but the item is not in your bags. I bugged it. I was in a prestige house and tested it on several items and every 2 to 3 times I would buy something this would happen. Fortunately the items were only a few gold but still a pretty serious error if it is happening to others.
