StationCash Items in Guild Halls

That last note will probably lead to much excitement and rejoicing in the EQ2 decorator community, as the inability to place most StationCash Marketplace items in Guild Halls has been a point of consternation. However I see the flipside of the issue — people will place $100 or more SC items in a Guild Hall, then have a falling out with the guild leader, or the guild simply falls apart, and next thing you know, they’re kicked from the hall with no access to said items.

I’ve always believed that items placed in a House or Guild Hall by a friend are a donation, but it’s a different story when real money is involved.  And I always felt that Marketplace items in Guild Halls shouldn’t happen until some kind of interface is provided to retrieve said items, even if you have been banished from the guild hall they have been placed in.

Simple solution to SC items in a GH, make it so that if a person leaves a guild for any reason all/any items they own that are in the GH are automatically removed and place into their inventory.

Feldon, don’t know if it’s just me – but since the website redesign, quotes are incredible hard to read as the background is filled with the quotation mark graphic. Kind regards, Rainer

Which browser (and version)? I’m not seeing it in IE10, Firefox 22, or Chrome 27.

caniuse.com is showing the newer css background options (multiple and use of clip/size/origin) are all broken in IE8 and earlier

So…unless you are secretly reading eq2wire in a corporate environment still stuck on Windows XP and not able to install Firefox, Chrome or Safari or a recent IE (current version in just one month will be IE 11) you’re fine. 👿

OK! I looked into it and have redone how I am doing backgrounds now. Hopefully EQ2Wire now has a fixed photo page background on older browsers (before there was NO background), and Quotes should not repeat. It won’t have the quotes in both corners, but it’s better than a repeating pattern!

Talan might be killable now, could be a lot of fun.

Also I wonder how much coin drops in the duos….

Glad they made the change and allowed SC items to be placed in guild halls. If I can place no-trade items in a guild hall, I should be able to place SC items in a guild hall. If I lose access to them, that’s the risk I took when I placed them.

Dethdlr and I agree about so little when it comes to EQ2. It’s a miracle we got EQ2U built. 😉

If this means it will be possible to retrieve several rare house No-Trade house items from the guild hall I used to be in (The guild failed and guild hall is inaccessible but still there.) Then I’ll be happy.

I agree about the guild kick = you don’t get your items (if the guild decides to be dinks about the situation) BUT there are also people that place items for coin that are heirloom/no-trade (Especially limited-time, one per character items like the Firiona Vie statue, Burniai digger, etc…)
Scamming is one of my biggest pet peeves, so making it easier by letting people yoink their items back after placing them does not sound like a good idea from my point of view. >.> (although that is a grey area, plat for cash items… buuut they broke their own rule with krono… but it’s got the safety of being broker-able and is a special unique case, and TBH I wish they’d do something similar with SC and expacks.. gawd i go off on tangents….)
    Any way…
How about a warning window when you place an item in a house that the character doesn’t own. Something along the lines of “Are you sure you want to place this item? You cannot retrieve it once you are no longer a trustee. Possible resulting loss of items not supported by SOE.” with a confirmation button.
Or an option to lock the item to the house that has a “accept” window for the owner of the house… but that would be complicated and unlikely since people aren’t technically supposed to be giving away or selling heirloom items at all. >.> but it is an idea.
Could put a limitation on heirloom/no trade so only the owner or the alts of the owner can place items. (as in account wide flags for all toons as owners of all houses account wide.) but that wouldn’t be any good for people who multibox. 😕

Personally, I’m pretty excited about being able to put SC items in the GH at all… My hubby and i have a 2 person guild and just hit lvl 95 not too long ago, then bought the t3 GH a few weeks ago. Tree houses out in the forested area of Antonica! WHeee! XD Boats at the dock! /squee!!!

I agree about the guild kick = you don’t get your items

I agree, as long as REAL MONEY is not involved. This is why StationCash items have not been placeable in Guild Halls — it is a huge Customer Service issue.

How about a warning window when you place an item in a house that the character doesn’t own. Something along the lines of “Are you sure you want to place this item? You cannot retrieve it once you are no longer a trustee. Possible resulting loss of items not supported by SOE.” with a confirmation button.

They actually added this on Test and I and others said look, the problem is not a warning. The problem is, if you place a bunch of real money items in a Guild hall, and then are kicked from the Guild, that is essentially theft in my opinion. Nobody should be out $50 or $100 because they have a falling out with a guild leader.

I wonder how this would play out in real life.

Lets say we’re friends and I hang out at your house all the time. I don’t live there, but you’ve given me a set of keys and I hang out there often. After a while, I decide to buy a new couch and put it in your living room. Then later, we have a falling out and you change the locks so my key doesn’t work. I want my couch back.

Since my key doesn’t work anymore, I can’t get in to get the couch. If I call the real life version of customer service (the police), would they help me get my couch back? Or would they laugh in my face and tell me that if I really thought it was still my couch I shouldn’t have placed it in somebody else’s house?

IMO they should laugh in my face. I accepted the risk of not being able to get the couch back when I put it in your house.

I’m so tired of this topic. It’s NOT a house. It’s a GUILD which is more akin to a clubhouse. And I’m not giving you the item, I’m loaning it to the club as long as I am a member.

Remind me not to join your club and loan anything to the club like a laptop or video camera. I’d never get it back!

Hell if I visit your house I’d better not take off my shoes or put down my backpack!

Also, If I let you borrow my car and you decide to keep it, I’m pretty sure the police would have something to say about it.
