think you mean diabled
disabled* see even i miss spelled it
Sure enough, soon as it was turned back on, a couple of enterprising souls on Guk were asking in channel to trade plat for SC items. I imagine the limits will work.
Yes, I meant disabled. 😉
I think 2 gifts per 24 hours is kinda limited but they have to balance it against the number of accounts plat farmers can create.
Is it limited per account or char? 2 in 24 is real limited!
I don’t get why it bothers people if people by sc with plat. They earned the plat like people earned cash so whats the prob?
@ landiin: Ask yourself why anyone would anyone give you something that costs real money by taking your fake money? SC is “goods or services.” Can you buy goods and services with monopoly money? You shouldn’t be able to by goods and services with plat either. This is a money laundering scheme, so use extreme caution.
Plat Farming was dead until SC Gifting was introduced. Now it’s back like a raging hemorrhoid. Also the spectre of money laundering. Word of the day is spectre.
@ Zharaxian: i think it’s a mistake to assume everyone buying / selling plat as farmers, plenty of reasons to do either, imo.. and by your argument all of us should move to free services, sense paying the subscription is using real money, to access non-real content, not everyone is in a guild that sells raid drops
i have never sold my SC for plat, and unlikely i every will, but i do see the reasons for it.
@ Eloquence: I fail to see where I ever argued for free services. All I said was ask why someone is selling SC for plat. If you answer that with “Oh, yes, I would love some SC, here’s my plat,” knock yourself out. You may be able to think of reasons why people do this (I noticed you didn’t actually list any, but that’s ok,) but I can see a glaring reason not to, i.e. money laundering. FYI, that’s a serious offense. If you, or anyone else wants to open yourself up to that, be my guest.
@ Zharxian i dont disagree w/ anything in your responce, and as with ANY transaction, every precaution should be taken, im simply saying that, assuming everyone doing so, is some form of criminal is a mistake.
Alright, I’ll bite. What is the legitimate reason that anyone offer 10,000 SC ($100US) for 100 plat?
first off, that amount would in itself be suspect, and anyone even considering buying / selling SC, should look at account history, how long has the player been in game, are they anon, do they have anon chars, are they in a reputable guild, etc, many things would be needed taken into consideration,
i could see buying SC (say for a mount) if you had access platinum, and didnt wanna shell out for cash for one, vice versa, i could see selling SC (read above) if proper steps were taken to ensure legitamacey, for players who have not gottin the hang of making money, etc
all and all, it’s not something i would personally consider either way, to many risks, as you said, however my point was just that, if i see someone else doing so, my first thought isnt, “what’s the scam?”
I don’t know anyone who would use that exchange rate. 100 plat is probably worth about $5.
@ eloquence: Ah, ok. I understand now. I can see I should have worded my original post more carefully. I don’t really think that everyone who sells SC for plat is a crook, so we aren’t that far off.
@ Feldon: I don’t know anyone who would use that exchange rate either, certainly not legitimately. I have seen those kinds of outlandish offers, though.
