Although we still have no confirmation or reason to believe that there has been any kind of security breach affecting SOE servers or customer accounts, and we are personally going to just wait and see what is announced, Amnerys has posted on the EQ2 Facebook announcement suggesting that concerned customers can contact SOE Customer Service:
Any players that have concerns regarding their account status and security should contact CS at 1-858-537-0898 (10am – 7pm PST, Mon-Fri).
and:
Please use the following phone numbers for your international area. Remember that these numbers are not toll free and are considered long distance from within each country.
Players using the “Outside France” phone number will be subject to International fees. UK: (44) 870-600-0267 – DE: (49) 180-500-7774 – FR: Inside France: (33) 825-120-549 – Outside France: (33) 171-230-495
Note some customers are getting a recorded message encouraging them to call back “next week”.
We’re sending extra cookies (and coffee) Ima’s way.
contacted SOE they are lieing and telling people its and equipement update. who do they think we are?
Well maybe they don’t lie, if it is something they can fix with an equipment update…hey and if it is just a frigging router then its the truth.
called them just now the said they are on maintenece lol they are lieing
The message last night (or early this morning; who can keep track?) said it was coming down for a brief patch. Pfft!
If they do to us what they’ve done to PSN players, we’re looking at at least a week of downtime.
if it was an equipemnt problem to you really think we would not know?
SOE rly need to learn to comminicate with their customers better though.
…n…n…next week? *starting to shake*
They mentioned “hardening” their servers after investigating which to me at least, implies they found a similar vulnerability in the SOE network as PSN and wanted to fix it now.
They already deny having been hacked (SOE that is) so sit tight people and hopefully it’ll all blow over and we’ll be ok.
What’s the point of calling them lol they don’t actually know anything anyway – that’s the problem.
The people in customer service are given a generic script to read. They are generally never told anything. I actually laughed recently when I called my ISP after my internet service was disrupted. I got a message stating that they were aware of an outage in my area and that the customer service representatives had no additional information. Basically, “just hang up now cuz that’s all we’re gonna tell you.” At least they are honest up front!
@Ledrik:
Actually, they announced today that SOE *was* attacked and a considerable amount of info was copied. They claim to have discovered it last night and promptly pulled the plug on everything.
Well you are lucky they have not even listed a number for us to call here in Australia good on ya Sony. Why shopuld we pay for a call overseas to hear a person from a 3rd world country maybe possibly read from a script as they like us have no idea what is going on.
