All US servers are still down 2 1/2 hours into a 1 hour Update.
Yesterday we read in the EQ2 Dev Tracker that several tweaks and fixes as well as additional debug code were being added for Freeport and Everfrost servers to try to get to the bottom of the problems.
UPDATE: The Network Status Page has been updated to indicate this is now a 3 hour downtime. So much for Double Guild XP.
I just wish they’d post updates so we’d have a clue what’s going on. They keep us in the dark an awful lot. A couple of nights ago the servers kept going up and immediately crashing. I counted 6 times. Only the first one was accompanied by a warning when Zoltaroth announced he was bringing the servers down in 15 minutes. Every time after that was without warning. Were they bringing the servers down themselves? Was it crashing? We don’t know, because they weren’t telling us.
The forum is for communicating, so please, SOE, communicate with us.
And before anyone says “They don’t have time, they are neck-deep in fixing the server which is how I want it,” they could always hire some college kid for minimum wage to answer for the phones and give us updates. Oh, and maybe he could update the MOTD too so it isn’t still telling us about a server merge 3 weeks after the servers merged.
The have all their bases covered the fine print in the EULA/TOS essentially says they are in no way obligated to keep the servers up, no refunds.
Do I think that is right? No, but that’s just the way it is.
