The EQ2 Update Notes for February 24, 2011 include a variety of fixes and tweaks, and a couple of nerfs. Check them out after the jump…
UPDATE: These are actually the Update Notes for February 24th.
GENERAL
- Made some optimizations to help with lag at server startup.
- Advanced shader options Depth of Field, SSAO and Sunshafts should be fixed.
COMMUNITY CALENDAR
- Fixed a display issue with calendar events during Daylight Savings Time.
USER INTERFACE
- Spell effect icons in the target window will now sort beneficial spells at the top.
ZONE PROGRESSION
- Experience values for all Velious zones have been increased slightly based on their intended challenge.
Forgotten Pools
- Lord Doljonijiarnimorinar has returned to defending the Forgotten Pools.
Hole (Contested)
- The Hole contested dungeon has had its xp multiplier reduced to a value that is more appropriate for the challenge.
Tower of Frozen Shadow: Haunt of Syl’Tor
- Tserrina should no longer treat players as having lost the aide of Advisor Svartmane when they haven’t.
Tower of Frozen Shadow: Umbral Halls
- Narmek Berreka’s armor pieces should all be aggressive and assist nearby aggressive creatures.
Tower of Frozen Shadow (Raid)
- Tserrina should correctly fall back to her previous strategies if players fail to remove her curse in a timely manner.
Kraytoc’s Fortress (raids)
- The minimum number of people needed to zone into the Kraytoc’s Fortress raids has been lowered to 1.
TRADESKILLS
- The power of tradeskilled resist jewelry has been tweaked to follow an appropriate progression path.
- The distinction between the cannons that you make for Aggi and for Mikk should now be clearer.
ITEMS
- Fixed an issue where some brawler quest rewards had item set bonuses that they should not have had.
- Fixed an issue where some brawler overland quest rewards had stats that were higher than they should have been.
- Fixed appearances on a few armor pieces.
QUESTS
- Kael Drakkel: The quest, “A Big Entrance” should now update properly for all group members.
- Adventure City writs for all cities should once again grant experience.
- All brawler 1 handed weapons should now have a delay of 4 seconds.
- Fixed an issue where many mage items were giving the wrong skills.
- Fixed an issue where some items were giving the wrong primary attribute.
EVERQUEST 2 EXTENDED
- Fixed a bug where Platinum members would be put into the login queue when the queue is enabled.
More buffs then nerfs, and the nerfs were only for brawler items, so that’s ok 😉 Seriously though, the hole’s XP reduced is a bit odd, that place wasn’t exactly over the top before, I wonder if its motivated more to try to steer players towards more interesting content (as opposed to endlessly grinding the same place over and over) here then balancing XP vs difficulty, although I’m just not a fan of the place myself.
Another element of EQ2X’s design appears to be showing itself here, for gameplay reasons they have been keen to keep the server massive, but they also appear to be taking advantage of its popularity by positioning platinum players to bypass queues, a good selling point imo.
Yeah frankly if I want to gain AA XP right now, I’d still think of rays or bulls in The Hole. I guess they want to force us into Velious for gaining XP.
I think its lame to ‘force’ us to play in KD to get better xp. I mean we’ll go there when we want to. It is after all our own play styles if we want to farm xp somewhere so be it… don’t force our hand into changes we don’t really need. .02c
