  1. What i wonder is if the home is in new halas, and if so, can evil characters set a recall point outside it? Kind of disappointed in an appearance only mount as well, and the rewards are one per ACCOUNT?

  2. I would imagine the “Everfrost Summer Home – Menagerie Prestige Home” is located in Everfrost. Unfortunately I have no way to verify that just yet.

I think the “one per account” is standard boilerplate and may or may not be applicable.

  3. Yes that is awesome over pricing. Funny thing is i gladly paid the same for the CE last year mainly to get the mount. I have left the box up on a shelf in my man cave to remind me what a waste it was.

This year it looks like they moved away from forcing you to go to the store as the digital is better. When i pre-ordered Rift it was one of the first things to impress the pants off me, i don’t get screwed if i want to go digital.

Glad SOE is taking the same route as brick and mortar stores don’t care about anything PC.

  4. Okay . . . since Fan Faire Folks are getting the expansion for free . . . exactly WHICH version are we getting? I presume it would be one of the digital download versions, but is it just going to be standard or are they going to make me drop 60 large anyway? (or $90 if we don’t find out until after the 22nd and we want those items).

Did I mention I LOVE Sony marketing?

  5. I’m pretty sure the fan faire attendees get the standard version (me included then!), kind of wondering here whether I should go for the collectors now or not. The flying mount is the big draw, the other items sound very good, but aren’t Froglok themed for me.

If they had a deal where I could pay a little extra to upgrade my version to an collectors edition then it would be a definite. Thinking on it, they could have made the collectors editions justify a higher price ticket too for Fanfaire, the prices they charged were actually very very good value for the 2 1/2 days entertainment (a free bar in Vega’s is worth more then the silver ticket on its own! I can verify that 😀 ).

“kind of wondering here whether I should go for the collectors now or not. The flying mount is the big draw,”

Really? You’re getting a free copy of DoV from Fanfaire. You want to give them money just to get a collectible copy when everything so far known about this expansion screams disaster. For a flying mount??

I guess the phrase buyers remorse will come into play here. Hmm, PT Barnum might have been talking about you too.

  7. “buyers remorse” i know that feeling after last years expansion, however at the time i happily paid it.

I had to go to a Video game *cough*console*cough* store to pre-order the CE, took several minutes as they have no clue what you’re talking about, pay an exorbitant amount of money, had to go back to get the box, all because SOE screwed you if you went digital and all in the name of a digital mount.

I’ve left the box up on a shelf to remind me that i essentially spent $70 for an empty box, literally.

  8. I’m wondering; what will happen when paying will becomes the new grind? F2P is relatively new, and companies like SOE, Turbine are trying to capitalize on the novelty.

A brief nutshell look back in time MMO’s were all about hard grinding, leveling took forever, group or don’t play. WoW comes out and i admit, my wife and i were even loving the fact it was so easy, the novelty wore off, we were bored, never played again. Wow cashed in on this novelty and still is.

Although it wasn’t for us it morphed the entire industry to cater to the casual, not saying this is all bad either. I’m older, family, less time, i can’t say it was completely unwelcome by me. Raid days I’m fairly sure are over for a while to come, this is why I’m liking Rift, it has a “the more the merrier” feel and not a ME ME ME feel, jump in and play with other peeps and go back to being an introvert if you want.

Anyway, I feel this is a bit of a wow moment in time, where people who always had to earn what they got, or couldn’t for what ever RL reasons and are relishing in the fact that “Hey cool i can just buy it.” Problem is what happens when this novelty wears off and people get tired of grinding their credit cards?

I wonder this as the people whom love this are most likely people who once had to work for rewards, or were jealous they couldn’t for whatever reason. Over time this novelty will wear off, people will look at how much they are spending; and the “new” crowd will only know buying and doubt they will find it as thrilling. Then what?

Clear your mind of everything you know. Yea i knew that was going to be easy for ya. /jk NOW, say someone said to you “here is this game but you need to buy everything in it.” What would you say?

  9. Has there been ANY word WHICH version Fan Faire attendees will get? I don’t want to pre-order now if I don’t need to, and I don’t want to wait until after Feb 22 to find out we DON’T get the CE, and now I have to spend $90 dollars instead of $60 because it’s too late to pre-order.
