If you have never played Portal, by Steam, now’s your chance to get this game for free. Previously released in the Orange Box (Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 Episode One, Half-Life 2 Episode Two, Team Fortress 2, and Portal), and then as a separate download, Portal is now free, presumably in preparation for the release of Portal 2. Further, Portal, like most Steam-powered games, is now available for the Mac.
Portal is an extremely addictive puzzle-based game where your only tool is a portal gun which can open orange and blue portals. Through the laws of physics, by jumping or throwing items through these portals, you can get to previously unreachable areas, and disarm traps and weapons in bizarre ways.
