  1. So I was taking a look at LoNloot.com…. I must say as someone that enjoys all of this game it enrages me how much is now trivialized because of LoN loot cards and station cash…

They really need to work allot of these items into Achievements, if they did it would be such a great gift to the player community. So many people would appreciate the kind of reward it would offer. I know this because I know I love my Void Portal from killing varsoon and I love my Naiad plushie from doing all the tradeskill instances.

  2. These items are all sub-par. On the one hand you say it’s bad to solo quest to 80 because grouping is the essence of the game, and then you get annoyed because these items are upgrades according to you – yet if you’re in a guild you should be able to get better gear than that because being in a guild is the essence of the game, too. What gives?

    >>Right now, I think a lot of folks solo quest from 1-80, missing the entire content of this game.

You might want to edit that because that’s just … outright obviously wrong. The entire content of this game? Consists to 50% or so of solo quests. And there’s nothing wrong with solo quests either.

However. I am relieved but also pissed off. We have here content (the quest and the instance) that I have to pay for to experience it. This is utter bullshit because I am paying already. SOE can f*ck themselves. Yet I am also relieved because the items are so bland and bad. I don’t need them, and nobody else should need them either because there is better gear easily enough available. But – they’re creeping closer and closer to actually good gear which is an upgrade. These items already are upgrades for solo players or people using t1 stuff. And of course SOE won’t stop there, knowing what kind of money-greedy assholes they are. The future of EQ2 doesnt look like one I’ll want to participate in.

  3. The items are only sub-par if you raid or clear harder instances. Please see my comparison chart. These items are Ward of Elements fabled with a LEGENDARY tag.

And I am talking about first-time players who reach 80 having never played these zones:

    • Nek Castle
    • Runnyeye
    • Deathfyst Citadel
    • Stormhold
    • Cauldron Hollow
    • Tombs of Night
    • Klak’anon
    • Court of Innovation
    • Solusek’s Eye
    • Living Tombs
    • Silent City
    • Poet’s Palace
    • Obelisk of Blight
    • Mistmoore Catacombs
    • Castle Mistmoore
    • Halls of Fate
    • any Kingdom of Sky dungeon

If you think there is nothing wrong with players solo from 1-80, then you are part of the death of this game IMO.

  4. For those of us without any 80’s to this point to “feed” items down to, I have a strong inkling that I’m going to see a lot of snide bias from the longterm 80’s when I get there (soonish). I’ve been told it’s not so in our guild, and yet you hear comments about the dps charts on runs. Well, if I don’t have all that uber gear, I won’t show on the chart, will I?

Yeah, I’m really looking forward to that day. I know the cancel button will be in my sights if it comes true.

I believe these additional options for obtaining decent gear are great. They at least give some players a chance AT that gear. What if WoE raids aren’t available to them for some reason, and if this stuff drops WoE level gear, then great – now they have a chance at something they’ve been blocked from enjoying in the game. (WoE’s only used as a guestimate here.)

Kindly stop assuming everyone has a herd of 80’s all able to funnel down killer gear to alts…

Tough words. And bullshit too. No idea where the personal attack comes from, but I am an avid and active part of the eq2 community. Not as much as you are with this blog, but I do my part.

I did all the content you listed on my main, and there is no reason to do it again on any alt that I level from 1-80. I love to solo quest, and that’s how I level my alts. It’s none of yours or anybody else’s business how I do it.

I love to group and raid on max level (!) with people who know their shit. Nothing wrong with that either. Don’t project your disappointment at getting no groups on alts onto the players who decide to take a different approach to get to the same destination. And yes, solo quests ARE content. For the lore fans (or just fans of computer games?) among us, a rainy afternoon with some old gray quests is terrific entertainment.

  6. I keep wondering why I don’t see a LoN boycott proposed. Boycott LoN, boycott any player participating in LoN and by that I mean if they offer to buy a damn card don’t group with em. Don’t let your guildies group with em. We have to stop LoN dead in it’s tracks and by that I mean we need to starve it for cash.

  7. Lessing,

My post was not intended as an attack towards players who are leveling up their Nth alt who have already done all this content. My 3rd character is a 79.9 Dirge. I’m keeping it there due to Vitality meaning I get double Combat/Quest XP -> AA XP than I will at level 80. I get about 20% AA for each void shard mission.

At this point I will use the mentor NPC to get down to 30’s or so and duo certain dungeons for the AA.

I just know that lower level groups have really dried up with TSO and I’d like to see some folks get opportunities.

No one gameplay style should be enforced. Kunark enforced solo 70-80.

  8. funny how ridiculous obsolete this loot card and the loot is, and Feldon and others where whining it will destroy EQ2.
nothing but jealousy that somebody might get raid gear without raiding. geez.

      Are you serious?

This is a 4 year old article and this was HUGE when it went down.

You had to buy dozens of LoN packs to get this card, which let you zone into a special version of the Obelisk of Ahkzul dungon in the final boss room. You killed 2 trash mobs and a weak named and you were given an item of equal or better quality than Ward of Elements x2 raid gear. This had nothing to do with jealousy and everything to do with LoN intruding into EQ2 gameplay.

Also I saw this dungeon (and the loot) 3 weeks before it went live and we tried to get the items adjusted, but were ignored.

If you can’t see that as Pay to Win, then I don’t know what to tell you.
