It’s official! SOE Live 2014 is set for August 14-17, 2014 returning to Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Registration will go live next Spring. From SOE.com/SOELive: Hopefully a Mobile Data solution can be found so that article posting, tweeting, and facebooking is possible from the convention floor. It wasn’t last year (unless you paid $25 for 3 hours of Wifi), greatly diminishing SOE’s social media presence over the all-important weekend of EQNext news. It’s also too early to tell if events will spill into Sunday afternoon as they did last year, but now, people can start asking for days off work to attend!
From Erin Oakley on the EQ2 Forums: The weather may be wintery, but the denizens of Norrath are full of holiday cheer! The annual celebration of Frostfell features gift giving, fabulous feasts, holiday crafts, and of course, Santa Glug and his helpers. Interested in joining the fun? Travel to the Frostfell Wonderland Village by finding a magical wardrobe in Qeynos Province District, Freeport, Haven, Kelethin, Neriak, Gorowyn, or New Halas. Frostfell will begin December 12, 2013, and run through January 9, 2014, so bundle up and join the fun!
What if someone could take a screenshot of every item that could be placed in a House, Guild Hall, or Dungeon, and then provide information about where that item is acquired, either from a Merchant, Recipe, or Quest. Well you don’t need to wish any longer because such a site exists. Lera’s EQ2Furniture.com is a comprehensive catalogue of every house item in EQ2, with screenshots from multiple angles, as well as data on how to acquire each item. The vast majority of this information was hand-entered, so this has surely been a monumental undertaking.
Frostfell this year has new quests, new crafts, and more things to do and acquire from the daily Gifts, Quests, and Crafting. Niami Denmother of EQ2Traders has once again covered them all in exquisite detail. First up is a revamped Frostfell Winterland Village (it’s no longer merely a clone of North Everfrost). Read her detailed article here: << Frostfell 2013: Snowy Facelift @ EQ2Traders >> There is also a new Frostfell-themed Prestige House. Follow Niami as she goes on a detailed tour of this new arctic wonderland: << Frostfell Dwelling Tour @ EQ2Traders >> Finally, a much-requested feature of diehard crafters and lovers of...
From EQ2 ZAM: The season of giving and cheer has arrived! Frostfell will begin following the downtime on Thursday, December 12, and this year brings about a festive season of change. This year Frostfell introduces one new quest, A Deepice Mystery, which explores the altered Frostfell Wonderland Village and must be completed before several older quests may be obtained. Many new craftables are available to tradeskillers this year, resulting in items such as Gingerbread Plushies and a Glacier building block set. Several returning quests have new reward choices or tokens added to them. Players with extra “gifties” from the Gigglegibber Gifty...
From the EQ2 Forums: Frostfell is active on Test! There’s plenty of Frostfell cheer throughout Norrath this season! Gigglegibbers and Frostfell elves are busy celebrating the holiday within the player cities, and encouraging everyone to visit the Frostfell Wonderland Village, accessed through the Magic Closets in Qeynos Province District, Freeport, Haven, Kelethin, Neriak, Gorowyn and New Halas. There you can assist Candice Cheriweth, Gardy Ex-Giftgiver, Mr. McScroogle, Queen Bunny, and Snarf Frostfoot with some holiday tasks, but only after you release them from their deep freeze! For those that have a talent for crafting, you can help Sogs Frostfoot,...

As we’ve discussed in the past, Sony Online Entertainment got itself into a huge pickle with their unintentional devaluation of their StationCash currency. An overeager Marketing Dept held numerous Double and Triple StationCash promotions which devalued much of the StationCash entering SOE’s economy to just 1/4 of its value. This created an untenable situation and at SOE Live, SmokeJumper was heard to say “We were losing our shirts”. Compound this with the fact that Walmart demands special incentives from their vendors to carry product. The popular 1500 StationCash cards with 500 SC bonus further amplified the devaluation effects. We are just speculating at this point, but we’re going...

From the EQ2 Forums: All gamers know it’s not a holiday until you see your favorite MMO decked out for the season! This year, Sony Online Entertainment invites you to get in the spirit by creating holiday-themed items for your favorite games. Since the unveiling of the Player Studio program, your fellow players have shown off their creativity and talent by creating in-game items for EverQuest, EverQuest II, PlanetSide 2, and Free Realms. In addition to epic bragging rights, creators get a split of the profits for sales of their item, which is pretty much the definition of “win/win.”...
From the EQ2 Forums: It has been many years since the moon Luclin mysteriously exploded, sending debris crashing to Norrath. The catastrophic damage split the surface of the planet into the divided islands now known as the “Shattered Lands.” Despite the near-destruction of their homelands, the survivors of the Shattering and their descendants went on to accomplish great deeds, and all Norrathians celebrate their triumph at the annual Heroes’ Festival. New for 2013: Earn Tokens of Heroism as you participate in the festivities and trade them for brand new rewards. Complete all the quests to get the “Badge of...
As one door closes, another opens. While we’re in the final week of the Nights of the Dead celebrations (the event concludes when Tears of Veeshan goes live on Tuesday, November 12th), we’re already looking ahead to the Heroes Festival which this year has new rewards, quests, and a new achievement. While the Heroes Festival event will run from Friday, November 15th until Monday, November 25th, you can test it now by logging into the Beta server! Here are the Beta notes for Heroes Festival from Kaitheel on the EQ2 Forums: The Heroes’ Festival has begun! A call has gone out to all Norrathian...

At SOE Live this year, the ability to store Mercenaries on EQ2 characters was announced to deafening applause. The feature was reconfirmed in an October Producer letter. So when Tears of Veeshan beta opened, players quickly found the new interface allowing them to store Mercenaries, along with a few surprises in the implementation (and cost) which have spawned a multi-page discussion. IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a BETA feature and as such may change between now and live, so readers should not make any assumptions about pricing, etc. until Tears of Veeshan launches on November 12th. NOTE: The Mercenary window has been substantially upgraded...
From Ry “Roshen” Schueller on the EQ2 Forums: How will you celebrate the scariest time of year in Norrath? A variety of Player Studio artists came together to create some supernatural additions to the Marketplace for this spooky holiday. Organ of Enchanting Darkness by NEKO ZERO This ancient organ was once used to create haunting tunes during secret ceremonies. What music would you want to hear played on its keys? This impressive piece was the winner of the Player Studio Dawn of the Dark Elf competition!
Our invite was once again misfiled, but if you are curious to catch all the info about Heroic Characters, including a few quotes from Holly “Windstalker” Longdale and Dave “SmokeJumper” Georegeson, you’ll want to check out the writeups by Cyliena (ZAM) and MJ (Massively) who endured SOE’s PR firm to bring you the scoop! Heroic Characters Come to EverQuest II @ ZAM Interview expounds on today’s Heroic Characters patch in EverQuest II @ Massively And is it just me, or are the 3 screenshots provided by PR kinda the opposite of what you’d expect to see in marketing Heroics?...
In response to a number of questions by players about Heroic Characters on the EQ2 Forums, Caith and RadarX had some answers… Q (by Errrorr): When will Channellers become available as heroic characters? We don’t have a date on when Channelers will become available as a Heroic option. Q (by Errrorr): Is it possible to have certain long and tedious questlines already completed (For example Speak as a dragon)? Heroic characters are not going to have any quests completed for them. If a quest is so tedious as to be off putting, and is also something that cannot be avoided, I would rather look...

In a perfect world, SOE would have the vast resources it would take to go back through EverQuest II’s 9 years of content and rework it so that it’s all fresh, challenging, and relevant again. But we live in the real world, and for many new and returning players who want to play with their friends, level 1-85 is now a relic, a reminder of days when heroic bands of gnolls traveled the Antonican countryside flattening all who stood in their way. The meaningful, perilous, and team-building adventure in that challenging content has faded with the passage of time...
From the EQ2 Forums: Looking for an experience boost or maybe another character slot? Move that alt you’ve been sitting on to another server. Get a discount for a short time only beginning September 11th and ending September 15th!
After a hard-fought public relations battle, players in France, Germany, and other European countries were allowed to continue playing EverQuest II with their SOE/Station accounts. However that may be a Pyrrhic victory, as it has always been SOE’s intention to hand off support in these other languages to ProSiebenSat.1. Today comes the announcement that the French, German, and Japanese EQ2 official forums are being shut down. Players needing support in French or German will need to reach out to other players, seek help on Wikis or other forums, or attempt to find help on the Pro7Sat.1 forums. As for Japan,...
