Our invite was once again misfiled, but if you are curious to catch all the info about Heroic Characters, including a few quotes from Holly “Windstalker” Longdale and Dave “SmokeJumper” Georegeson, you’ll want to check out the writeups by Cyliena (ZAM) and MJ (Massively) who endured SOE’s PR firm to bring you the scoop!

And is it just me, or are the 3 screenshots provided by PR kinda the opposite of what you’d expect to see in marketing Heroics? The exclusive armor set and free flying mount, especially on characters ALL BY THEMSELVES are probably the sorest subject for existing players. I guess I can see that players want to know what their $35 (3,500SC at full price) gets them, but I certainly wouldn’t have featured a Solo character in all 3 screenshots.
Personally, I’d have tried to whip up a screenshot showing players trying out classes they’d never considered before, a screenshot suggesting that this feature will grow the player population as people come back and try EQ2 again. Certainly a group/raid shot or two. SOE has some really creative people, so they didn’t have to all be screenshots. A cartoon could have been included. And I am not saying there’s anything wrong with solo play, but a long-term goal of Heroic characters is to bring back players to the game who want to group with friends and are willing to skip content to do so.
I would bet that the main reason each screenshot shows one character is that one character is exactly what 3500SC buys you. If the screenshot showed a full group of six you can be certain that there would be people who would ask for a refund or compensation because they didn’t get six heroic characters.
Good PR/advertising people think of these things. I’m just surprised SOE were that careful.
That may be the dumbest thing I have ever read.
Dumb, but its very true..
There are reasons for labels on things like “do not eat” on matches, or “may contain peanuts” on a bag of peanut M&Ms. >.>
I love the little do not eat desiccant bags in electronics equipment packaging, because a lot of people get the munchies hooking up their new PS4 and think Sony must have put some treats in the box.
The difference between genius and stupidity is genius has it’s limits.
Honestly it’s a solo game these days. If you are a ‘cool kid’ you might find groups or whatever but most people are just playing through their nostalgia waiting on something better to come a long. The community has killed the PuG.
