  1. After almost eighteen years playing SOE and now DBG games it finally occurs to me to wonder just why they need to do maintenance so frequently. I’ve played a lot of MMOs from a lot of different companies and I can’t think of a single one that needs to remove game access so often and so regularly. Some manage to keep the servers up and the shops open almost seamlessly for years at a stretch but most manage to get through longer stretches than DBG ever manage.

I’m not complaining about it. I always kind of liked it. it creates a natural breathing rhythm that other MMOs don’t have. I’m just curious, though, why after all these years and with all the advances in technology, it’s still necessary. I mean, surely DBG would rather have the servers up and the cash shop open – they can’t be doing it because they want to…

  2. It’s ridiculous I have to read of this General Maintenance here and not on the forums.

Radarx would say but but it’s not EQ2 game news, but if I go to the main site it’s posted there under news.

I’ll put up with over worked under appreciated Devs trying their best to push new content, but these “so called” community managers are just awful.

If the strategy is pushing social media and making us follow Daybreak twitter then at least go back to giving us in game rewards. A few years ago we got that mount for Facebook likes.

I would post this on the forums if logins were not down and I didn’t want to lose my rant energy so it’s here instead.

    1. Radarx does seem to have something against forums (and those who use them). Every time he takes something away from the forums, he claims it’s ‘to reach more people’… and adding new places is good… taking away old places while adding the new NEVER ‘reaches more people’. And, yes, he’s made that claim while removing things from the forums more then once.
