    1. Doesn’t almost everyone already use EQ2 Wikia already? Guess have to see what this is all about but I don’t see point of it.

I go to Zam first. It takes weeks before Wikia has new expansion or GU quests.

  1. I like to see community involvement, and I think both ZAM and eq2wiki have done a tremendous job for the player base. I don’t trust SOE to have the time or dedication to make their wiki better than a player run one.

Seems there could be a better use of resources.

  2. I totally dropped using Wikia some years back because it was never updated and I could never find a thing.
So I go to ZAM first and foremost, and even helped writing the articles for recent expansions so they would be up to date.

What is highly bothering me is the fact that SoE was providing feeds for ZAM at a time and then let it dropped, so I don’t believe for a single second that they will actually uphold their end of their “partnership”.

  3. I use both sites often. I enjoy searching more on ZAM than wiki do to the way the search bar functions on Zam.

I will find the page on Zam than click on the link (that’s always broken but i click on it anyway lol) to the wiki page and read both pages. sometimes they are the same other times one has more info than the other. sometimes both have nothing.

  4. I have found that with in game items I can find them easily enough with third party sites such as eq2U zam wikia lootdb etc… the frustrating thing for me (at least for items) is when I look them up I want to know what is it (type of item), what does it look like (picture & item link), what does it do (is it a house item that lets me travel someplace from my house? Is it a recipe item? What is it used for?), and most importantly how do I get it (what mob drops it? What quest line do I need to do to get it? How do I obtain one?).

most sites will have what is it and what does it look like but more and more items are slipping thru the what does it do, how do I get it, and what is it for cracks of information.

I would love to have an all-in-one comprehensive site to see all that info in a one stop shop. If SOE can muster up that kind of a site then great, if not then it is only a repetition of what is already available and thus wasted time and effort.

    1. what does it do (is it a house item that lets me travel someplace from my house?

I agree that some house item descriptions could be better on items that function as teleporters. That’s something that the EQ2 team could improve. Or is there data on the item examine window that we’re not showing on EQ2U?

      Is it a recipe item?

On EQ2U, Recipe books show the items they make. [eq2u]Grandmaster Carpenter’s Advanced Compendium, Volume I[/eq2u]
And on EQ2U, Recipe item patterns like [eq2u]Bloodied Remnant of Rage[/eq2u] show what they can make. Not all of those have been exported yet, so I’m chasing that down.

What is it used for?), and most importantly how do I get it (what mob drops it?

That is in Loot Table data. We have been slowly working through some test data to see what it will take.

What quest line do I need to do to get it? How do I obtain one?).

Quest data is down the road. Loot Tables are substantially more complex than any data we’ve dealt with before on EQ2U, and Quest data will be an order of magnitude more complicated than that.

It is absolutely my intention so that every item on EQ2U has some kind of origin information. That’s either a Recipe, a Quest you complete, a Vendor, an NPC you kill, etc. It’s a monumental project.

  5. Feldon: I agree that some house item descriptions could be better on items that function as teleporters. That’s something that the EQ2 team could improve. Or is there data on the item examine window that we’re not showing on EQ2U?

Avianna: Feldon, EQ2U is my first and foremost go to site whenever I want info on an item. It is not your fault that SOE has a poor item description. short of you going into game and testing every in game item beating it against the wall of your house and looking for hidden buttons on the item there is no possible way you could fathom doing that with all in-game items. So by no means is EQ2U not doing what I would expect.

Feldon: On EQ2U, Recipe books show the items they make. Grandmaster Carpenter’s Advanced Compendium, Volume I
And on EQ2U, Recipe item patterns like Bloodied Remnant of Rage show what they can make. Not all of those have been exported yet, so I’m chasing that down.

Avianna: Yes the recipe books are great, you have done a marvelous job at that, I am speaking more the other way around you see Ambrosial Tea http://u.eq2wire.com/item/index/3604044727 in game and wonder how do I get that??? So you look it up and can find the item but nothing about needing a colossal reactant and a research assistant for the recipe and that is how to get that item. Now that is not your fault. SOE should provide better information in their data feeds. You cannot provide information that is not given you unless again you want to delve into the game and inspect every item, track each origin and go bald pulling your hair out in frustration.

Feldon: That is in Loot Table data. We have been slowly working through some test data to see what it will take.

Avianna: If you can come up with that, then surely you and dthdlr are programming gods.

Feldon: Quest data is down the road. Loot Tables are substantially more complex than any data we’ve dealt with before on EQ2U, and Quest data will be an order of magnitude more complicated than that.

Avianna: Awesome, if you would like some fresh eyes to help, contact me. I am not an expert but I wrote my own custom UI that is roughly based off from Profit UI so I do know a bit about code and I am fairly good at reading and deciphering it. I would be very happy to help you and Dthdlr in any way I can.

Feldon: It is absolutely my intention so that every item on EQ2U has some kind of origin information. That’s either a Recipe, a Quest you complete, a Vendor, an NPC you kill, etc. It’s a monumental project.

Avianna: Indeed it is, the information is out there for most things but to gather it all to one spot and verify it’s accuracy would be monumental indeed.

In closing Feldon EQ2U is the best looking most efficient and easy to use site there is out there, and I use it daily. I look forward to it’s continued growth and am excited to see what you have in store next. You have done amazing. Oh and let dthdlr know to stop slacking on the adornment calculator 😉

    Amazing Job Both of you

    Thank You,
    ~Avi

    1. Avianna,

      I added something. 😉

Now when you bring up any item which is MASTERCRAFTED or HANDCRAFTED, there is a magnifying glass button to the right of the quality/tier. If you click it, it will look up recipe books that contain that recipe. Now this won’t work for a bunch of items, including I think all Tradeskill Apprentice recipes, Imbued, Crude, Refined, Blessed, and Scout/Fighter spells. But I had fun making it and hope to make it more of a built-in feature of EQ2U some day.

      Examples:

      http://eq2.me/i/Blood+Drenched+Dagger
      http://eq2.me/i/Carved+Figurine+of+the+Elements

The same works for Set Bonuses. You can now get a list of items which are part of a set. Example: http://eq2.me/i/Spiritual+Chain+Spaulders
