From the EQ2 Forums:
Last weekend was so great, we decided to do it again! Starting at 12:01pm (noon) Pacific on Friday, November 2 , 2012, and lasting until 11:59pm Pacific on Sunday, November 4, 2012, weβre offering Double Experience in EverQuest II! Take advantage of this limited time offer and watch those XP bars fill up!
REMEMBER: Each copy of the Chains of Eternity expansion will include two baubles which you can use to boost two level 90 characters to 280 AAs. So don’t fret about any level 90 characters that are short on AAs, instead work on lower level alts.
From John Smedley‘s twitter:
We were going to run a surprise Triple Station Cash promotion tomorrow. Due to the horrible storm and our East Coast players being impacted we are going to move that promotion to this upcoming Sunday November 4th. We normally do not announce these, but under these conditions we decided it was the right thing to do. — Smed
I hate Double XP Weekends π
I always work weekends.
Looking forward to an exciting weekend of gaming!
Sc ? I only use them to speed up research these days, and I’ve still got plenty left.
But I wont knock back a double XP weekend
Got to love that the 280 AA potion only works on level 90 characters, which would have 140 – 160 AA just from the leveling process getting to 90. So this is more like a 120 AA potion not a 280 potion.
So we’ve gone full circle then? From complaining that these 280 AA potions exist at all to complaining that they aren’t good enough?
Crying is what some people are really good at…
Actually if you build a level 90 from scratch you can easily get there and have only 65-70 aa’s to show for it. That would normally take you what, 20-30 minutes of grinding? I can guarantee you that aa points 71 to 280 take 10X as much experience/grinding as 1 to 70, so your point NRGY is NOT well taken.
Cheers.
and watch all the SOE customers swarm walmarts across the country!
I’ve always found double xp weekends to be a mixed blessing. If you like grinding and power leveling, they’re great. If you’re trying to level by doing quests and such, you’re generally out of luck.. because the at-level zones are locked down by lvl 92 toons power-leveling other people. Example: I tried to do The Screaming Mace last weekend, but Cazic Thule was locked down by a bunch of 92 toons dragging people around.
If we could still use sc for subs, I might have cared. I’ve never understood the surprise promotions…or why they ‘always’ take place on weekends. I do get that many people have more free time on weekends, but for some people, that’s the busy time of the week.
I know I shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, but really? Windstalker’s pithy comment about hoping that us east coasties can join y’all was lovely. Bite me. Power companies are saying 5-10 days, maybe. Maybe. Tx for taunting us with the aa.
/grump
/em shudders from quest ding withdrawal.
The AA potion sucks for me. I have 26 toons and I have grinded/power leveled their AA to 280 plus while at lower adventuring level. Looks like the potions will just sit in my accounts. Potion could have been if you have 280 AA or level 90 then the potion gives you the other.
All 28 of my 92s have over 280aa. That potion is a little late coming.
moan, moan, moan.
no kidding.. lets complain a bit more. Life sucks, i live on the west coast, no power outage today… no flooding … my house didn’t just sail off into the ocean.. but OMG that SOE and their attempts to give us stuff. I want MORE … think of ME please.
Double XP weekends were great when people actually played together in 1-79 zones. Remember all the Runnyeye and Sanctum of Scaleborn groups? Now that everyone goes off into their own instance, they should just give us 6 potions that give us Double XP for 4 hours. How many people really play more than 24 hours over a Double XP weekend? And then I’d be able to use these potions on a Tuesday night in Palace of Awakened when it’s abandoned.
Maybe with the Group XP changes, Double XP weekends will become cool again. Course there’s plenty of gloom and doom about the Group XP changes too. It’s like people don’t want EQ2 to get new players who stick around long enough to learn the game.
There ARE people who don’t want EQ2 to get new players. Depending on the issue of choice to bash and whine about they are either boring or amusing. Their comments make for lively reading on any forum ))
Didn’t feel like playing last weekend so this weekend will be nice for me. Just got back from Walmart and picked up some SC cards. Triple is too good to pass up.
What would be even cooler is if I had power so I could take part in this double exp weekend and triple station cash. Still no power, projected by LIPA: We expect the majority of our customers to have power by the weekend of November 10th.
How about we save the Double Exp weekend for then? So I don’t have to sit in my car (after chainsawing it out from under the tree that fell on it) to charge my phone and stay warm in 38 degree weather in 50mph wind gusts, while risking CO poisoning by sitting in my car while it’s running? And having to drive three hours on the HOPE I find a gas station that has power and gas and have to wait on the (no exaggeration) half to one mile long line praying they’ll still have gas by the time I get up there (thankfully there’s been a cop there, already people have been brandishing weapons at stations). And I’m one of the lucky ones who escaped relatively unharmed (luckily the tree that fell on my car landed between my house and the neighbors, and it landed in the shed before it hit the car).
THEN you can complain about double exp weekends so we on the east coast can complain about quibbling sh*t like this, too.
Or don’t mind us, this is way more important.
