Destiny of Velious Beta Now Underway

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Expansion News

We are hearing reports from the community that the Destiny of Velious EQ2 Beta is now underway. As the Beta is under strict NDA, that is the limit of what we are able to report, however as we get closer to release, we’ll post any free-and-clear information we get our mitts on. 🙂

If you have not already filled out the Destiny of Velious beta application, you may do so here. If you went to Fan Faire you should be flagged by the end of the day today (January 5, 2011).

From SmokeJumper on the EQ2 Forums:

The first 1000 folks (well, actually a few more than that, but roughly a thousand) have been authorized for the “Destiny of Velious” Closed Beta.

You should be receiving emails at the email address you have registered for your Sony Station Account. If you have not receive such an email by the end of the day today (1/4/11), then you weren’t accepted into Closed Beta…yet.

Depending on how many folks pile into the beta, and how many testers we need, we may authorize extra groups of people later this month. Stay tuned for more details!

Those of you that made the cut…congrats! We’ll see you on the beta forums and on the Beta server!

It’s unclear if that 1,000 figure includes or excludes Fan Faire attendees.

The first rule of Fight Club Beta is: you do not talk about Fight Club Beta. The second rule of Fight Club Beta is: you DO NOT talk about Fight Club Beta!

    Sorry, couldn’t resist. 🙂

Both my girlfriend and I went to fanfaire. She got the invite yesterday but I did not. No big deal, I just play on her account or look over her shoulder

As the heads up, something fishy is afoot with it as well. I app’ed for beta via the friends and family guaranteed link provided by a friend who works there…

Neither him, an SoE employee, or myself received an email.

So just because you are under the impression you SHOULD be invited, don’t hold your breath.

    (Not being negative, just informative!)

No one I know from Fan Faire got any invites. I know a few people from my guild that got invites, all of whom did NOT attend Fan Faire.
Smokejumper himself stated Fan Faire attendees would be eligible Jan 5th and AUTOMATICALLY authorized in his post on the forums:

It’s Jan 5th . . . the people in my guild that go invites have been in since the 4th . . . what gives?

In the past I tried getting into the RoK Beta when it was announced but upon getting an invite I wasn’t able to get into it because for some stupid reason my PC at the time well couldn’t run anything!

Again 1one year later I did the same for TsO and still wasn’t able to get the BETA-Game to even run correctly!

And yet again last year I did the same thing, I signed up for Sentinel’s Fate BETA testing and I still wasn’t able to get into the Beta of the game. And for everyone of those past BETA testings of those expansions I was running a terrible copy of Windows 64bit Edition that manly I believe was the cause of all of my many problems including attempting to get into all of those past BETA’s!

I did get an email from someone here at EQ2Wire (Morgan Feldon) at a later date for winning a BETA-KEY from this website last year for SF and still wasn’t able to get the damn game to run correctly! (DO NOT EVER USE WINDOWS XP 64BIT EDITION!)

And it figures now I have a new PC that well can run anything and I’m willing to bet I’d be able to run the Beta game correctly now but I’ve not received an email so it figures I’ve received BETA emails in the past for the past three expansions that were released but couldn’t get the damn things to work and now with the new RIG I am left with no BETA email lol

Smokejumper posted this about a half an hour ago:

FF apps will be authorized very quickly. Sorry for the delay. I don’t know the exact ETA yet, but we’re discussing it now.

Sounds like they’re working on it.

    Mr Skyfish,

Best of luck to you on getting into the beta. 🙂 It’s a streaming launcher this time around, and once you get started you can copy your music and pak folders over so it’s about a 2GB download.

I received my e-mail, but I’ve been too busy to get it running yet.

Well thank you for at least responding to my post I’ve not received an email as of yet but that’s fine if I don’t get in I’ll just keep on truck-in it in Black Ops
