Beastlords may be the most complex, configurable, dynamic class in EQ2 for the foreseeable future. To try to explain this class without using screenshots is damn near impossible. And due to the surviving conditions of the NDA, we are forbidden to use any of our screenshots. So we are going to wait another day so we can start putting out complete articles that fully explain the Beastlord class, Reforging, Mercenaries, etc. with pictures.
In the mean time, we leave you with these artistic impressions of the Beastlord interface…
Not wanting to be left out, Dethdlr provided us with this highly detailed preview of Mercenaries:
That’s… pretty accurate!
Also note that it’s entirely possible to play (mostly) without the beastlord icon bar, just with the savagery meter. And I’m sure some creative modders will find a way to integrate that into existing windows. But yeah, it’s a very complex class and it won’t be for everybody. Button mashing just isn’t enough here!
woot for updated graphics – gotta fire up the TI 99/4a now
Beautiful picture. I’m going to hang it on my fridge.
So… I never played EQ1, but…
Do beastlords sound just a little like Pokemon?
You catch all sorts of different animals by weakening them in combat.
They have different abilities.
Train them up to make them stronger (AA).
Use certain types of warders in certain battles.
I’m actually really looking forward to the new class.
EQ1 beastlord only had one warder. A different warder for each race that was able to play beastlord class. The “Pokemon” warders are new to EQ2
WoW has like 300 different pets.
Not sure why people wouldn’t want to be able to tame any animal within EQ2.
hehe
that’s a very nice FAQ ;p
Because Beastlords are supposed to have a bond with their warder, this isn’t WoW.
The original Beast Master (by Andre Norton) had an eagle, two ferrets and a large feline. He was telepathic with most animals yet had a special bonding with this group. The ferrets were a kick.
At any rate I’m saying it’s possible to bond with more than one warder IMO.
@Feldon: I’d love to be able to tame every animal in EQ2. I just have zero interest in re-rolling to make this happen.
Betony, I’m not sure what the hell you are going on about. eagles and ferrets? lol I’m guessing that has nothing to do with eq.
Kralus, pretty sure he meant this:
I suspect he’s referencing the movie based on that book, rather than the book itself, but you never know. 🙂

As long as noone was refering to the lame TV series…

Love the pics. 😉
