SOE Introduces ‘Live’ Server Status Page
From EverQuest2.com:
We’ve got some really great news! We now have an official SOE Server Status Page! The page includes server status information for the following games:
- EverQuest II Extended
- EverQuest II
- EverQuest
- Star Wars: Galaxies
- DC Universe Online
Check it out here: http://www.soe.com/status.
The information on this page will include up-to-date region, server name, status, and server load information.
UPDATE: The Server Status page has been redone to add other games (Vanguard, EQ Mac, EQOA, FreeRealms, and PlanetSide). They’ve also added a time readout for the last time each server’s status was updated. This seems to have changed the structure of the JSON output.

Great, now I can load server data for all the games I dont play, just to see if my eq2 server is broken… good job platform team.
Too bad they couldnt keep the old one working/updated with any realtime data, http://everquest2.com/serverstatus/

uberfuzzy,
We’ll see if they make a subset of that page available under EQ2. Meanwhile, I’m going to see what I can make of http://lp.soe.com/json/status/ .

Something that is worth noting, that wasnt made clear anywhere: You can drag/drop the games into the order thats more relevant for “you”, and this is remembered between page loads. (though sadly, the collapse/highlight state isnt remembered)

One has to wonder why Vangaurd was not added, after all they have swg, and eq, and eq2.

Addendum, what exactly does low/medium/high mean what would those numbers be?

Surprised they left out population like they had on the original status page.

There is no way they are actually going to quantify server population numbers. It’s kind of like the color coded threat levels in the US. You should just intuitively know what it means.

excellent. Now I’d love to see relevent server status show up in the patcher too. But I’ll take this as a start.

It’s still useless information, what a waste of time. Doesn’t matter server pop if you aren’t on during peak hours, and even then they have killed PuGs.

And it didn’t do anything during the patch tonight – status is still a up arrow on all servers.

I guess that’s why EQ2 Wire was wise enough to call it a “Live” Server Status Page…

That is disappointing. However, it’ll be good if this new one actually shows when a server is accessible; it’s pointless that it shows a server being online when it’s locked. It might be technically correct but more people are interested in whether or not we can play than the pedantics of what constitutes being online.

The primary thing that has been wrong with every server status page in the past has been accuracy. If this new one is no more accurate than the old one, what’s the point?

@Dirgus this morning at 7:45 am cst it was not, i got a screen capture posted on our guild website. Vangaurd and planetside was added later. I would guess after folks pointed it out. I not played vangaurd in a long time nor do I intend to, but I still have a couple of friends who I send cross game tells too. The list did stop with DC Universe.

Isn’t the load based on the amount of players on at a given time? What shows when you’re creating a char?

Either way, the population on all server’s is desolate.LOOOOL

UPDATE! The Server Status page has been revamped overnight to add other games (Vanguard, EQ Mac, EQOA, FreeRealms, and PlanetSide). They’ve also added a time readout for the last time each server’s status was updated.
* “Population” (low, medium, high) is an indication of server load, not the number of players or the server’s actual population.
* They didn’t carry forth the # of registered characters on each server from the old EQ2 Status Page because the information is meaningless. If I registered a dozen characters in 2004, and never got them above level 10, they still count towards that number.
* With the addition of update times maybe this is a sign that they’re working on the accuracy of the page.

they really need 3 additional status level for “The Bazaar”
“very low” — Wow what a busy day!
“extremely low” — normal load since mid August
and “cant see anyone on” —- where it will probably be most of the time by December

The server status page is down at this point, so it doesn’t seem to be a great help when it is needed.

What good does a server status page do when the website goes down?!

SOE is down because of a power outage in San Diego. According to the local power company:
“Arizona Public Service said the SD outage was caused by a procedure an APS employee carried out near Yuma. http://bit.ly/n38Oal #sdoutage”
