On Monday, EQ2 Mechanics Guru Xelgad teased a new priest ability called “Gather Remains”:
Oh god, why did that mob aggro?! All I did was resurrect after a wipe! Solution coming to #EQ2 priests soon! pic.twitter.com/T5LTnD307P

At first, we assumed this would be a Prestige ability reserved for this fall’s upcoming Altar of Malice expansion, however during today’s EQ2 Insider webcast, Xelgad clarified that this ability was going to become available to priests “as soon as possible”, after it clears QA, so likely in the next few weeks.
According to a followup tweet, the ability will apparently work Out of Combat only, but not require Line of Sight Feet:
@tyman5333 Works with different systems since it’s out of combat and doesn’t need to run a whole bunch of other checks. Doesn’t need LoS.

Does this sound like a useful ability despite the 50 meter limit? Will you or your friends use it?
After some of the silly wipes we’ve had due to just the purpose for which this spell is created, I can see our raid leader mandating it’s use prior to a post wipe rez. No need for the 4s cast time though. Just make it quick cast and most will macro it to their ooc rezzes.
Exactly what purpose does this serve that the very long ranged raid rez doesn’t already serve?
I haven’t seen it personally, but apparently a number of raid mobs will agro if someone revives near them. A long range rez still has the person’s body momentarily stand up near the mob before teleporting to the healer, and that may be enough to cause a wipe.
The problem usually comes from a person trying to move before their character pops up near the healer and the mob aggros – causing another wipe, wasting more time and causing much aggravation.
I am very excited to see this ability in game.
Does it have a confirmation box?
Can it automatically apply a res after the body is moved (possibly with a second box, to force a location sync)?
Can this be merged with the current raid-wide res (supplication of the fallen, I think)?
I’m guessing they had technical difficulties making them an intrinsic part of all resurrection spells, so we get another button.
Just curious, Feldon…
You mentioned Altar of Malice instead of The Darkened Sea. Has it been revealed in new information that Altar is the EQ2 expansion name? I had thought that speculation leaned toward The Darkened Sea being the EQ2 one based on the current storyline of EQ1.
Moving within 50 meters to summon corpses is definitely going to get the raid killed again. One such fight for example would be Kelana and Kigara, the ones that summon corpses directly underneath them. These people will still need to revive and fly back; this spell is dysfunctional out of the gate. Why not just fix Supplication?
