As a result of the recent SOE layoffs which saw the departure of long-time Community Managers Virrago and Zatozia, there has been some reshuffling of responsibilities. Among these changes, Tony “RadarX“ assumes the role of EQ2 Community Manager. Here’s his introductory post on the EQ2 Forums:
The position of Community Manager for EverQuest II has a proud tradition with some great folks who have the opportunity to interact with a passionate community. This week marks the “changing of the guard” for a few communities and I’ll be replacing Dexella here on EQII. No she isn’t gone or critically injured, although if she keeps drawing on my whiteboard I can’t guarantee that. Amnerys will also be working with some of our other communities from here on out. And she hasn’t drawn on my whiteboard yet, so she’s probably safer than Dex…
So, who am I? I’ve been with the SOE Community Team for a little more than 4 years. In that time, I worked on the launch of DC Universe Online, PlanetSide 2, and half a dozen other various game titles. Before that I spent a number of years writing for MMO games media. Before that, believe it or not, I was an EverQuest II player. This is the game that drove me into this industry, so it’s got a special place in my heart.
It’s a pretty exciting time for the game right now with Tears of Veeshan coming soon, and I look forward to sharing that experience with all of you. I’ll be around asking questions and providing what answers I can, so I look forward to talking with all of you in the near future.
I was wondering where did Zatozia go since Piestro started to post info on VG forum. Unfortunately VG lost also his Producer (don’t remember his name). Not to mention Brad McQuaid is no longer working for SOE…
I remeber RadarX from EQ2 forums but in the last year he was mostly active on Planetside 2 forums, so I guess Dexella will be more visible there from now on?
Zatozia is gone =(. thats what I heard through the grape vine.
I believe Dexella is more EQNext now.
No ill will to Radar X but I find this very odd.
I came back to EQ2 about 3 months ago as I noticed there was a lot of momentum around the game. There seemed to be lots of posts and devs taking an active interest on the forums.
Then SOE turns around and fires them. These people breathe new life in to a very old game and SOE guts the team after getting a few more subs?
Very odd behaviour and makes me kind of pissed off.
XD I still think Blizzard planted an employee in SOE, or is bribing some people. XD “Pssst, go sell the european players off. Pssst, fire some of the more active devs. Psssst. Stop doing those triple SC days that clean all the stores out of SC cards.” or maybe it’s like when people arson their own homes for the insurance maybe? XD
paranoia can be fun, right? >.>
What do you expect from a dying game and a company that is not making a ton of money? SoE is pinning their hopes on EQ Next as the next big thing.
Nice to see you back in the old stomping grounds RadarX!
I give this guy 3 months before he is kicked to the curb like the rest.
