EQ2Maps Needs an Update After Today’s Fix
From EQ2 Zam:
POST-PATCH UPDATE: If you are receiving a “MainHUD Map2_clone_0” UI error, it is because you are running custom maps. EQ2Map users can run the auto-updater to fix this error. Other solutions are checking over on EQ2Interface for further updates, /loadui default, or copy the default map UI files to your custom directory.
This update is needed to support the new “Instant Travel” functionality which replaces the [eq2u]Portable Globe of Swift Travel[/eq2u] purchasable from the Marketplace. Instead of buying the travel Globes in stacks of 5, now you can navigate to any map in EQ2 and travel to certain demarcation points through the point-of-need interface.
Instant Travel is the latest example of “point of need” interfaces and was discussed on the Testing forums.

what are the numbers cost wise of the point of need insta travel vs the old globe of swift travel?

I’m sure it’s more. All the past PoN stuff has cost more than the consumables they replaced.

Actually, pound for pound, the researcher PoN is half the cost of the old researcher potions
And the (still yet to be released) self-res PoN was announced to be ~25/use vs the effective cost of 50/charge of the 3charge potion

The travel PoN is 30sc per use, but its not limited to places with bells either. It opens a world map with nearly every zone represented.
As a test, I sent my self to Steamfont Mountains, a place with only a druid ring, and I landed at the rings.
I want to find out where it picks if you go to a place that has multiple, like Enchanted Lands…

Ok, thats cool, it shows you the zone map, with the PoN icon at where the egress points are, and lets you pick,

Those PoN icons are too small. 😉

30SC per use seems spendy for a game where travel is ridiculously easy already. Maybe I’m just too frugal. 😛

Hmmm does your site no longer remember logins, Feldon? I just had to login again, normally doesn’t happen that close together.
Anyway, just wanted to say that Bunji posted another workaround here: https://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/index.php?threads/maps-are-borked.536508/#post-5933291

Comments on EQ2Wire should now be fixed (editing core files sucks), and I was also able to add a WYSIWYG editor with Preview. Enjoy. 😉

Am I the only one who updated eq2maps and the bug is still happening? I have to download eq2maps on a different computer and move it on a flash drive. I’m thinking I may have missed a file 🙁
