Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Live (SOE Live/Fan Faire)

From Kithicor.org:

I am outraged.  I was just informed that, fantasy artist, Larry Elmore was Ripped Off during the 2011 Fan Faire.  While he was with a potential customer, some thief stole his cash box, containing cash, and credit card receipts!

If you purchased anything from Larry’s table this weekend, PLEASE…

  • Check to make sure your purchase was completed through your bank
  • Contact your bank and alert them to possible credit card fraud
  • And most important.. If were NOT charged for your artwork, PLEASE contact Larry Elmore and do the right thing by making sure his work is compensated for.

Larry Elmore is a wonderful artist with strong ties to the Fantasy and Gaming community.

We encourage everyone to visit Larry’s Elmore’s website, and make a purchase.  We can not let this act go by the wayside.  Support Larry Elmore as thanks for everything he does for the gaming community.

Well the casino that you guys were in has an extensive array of cameras and security staff. There is nowhere that a camera does not get a shot off. That means he need to go to security and let them find who did it. They should be able to find the thief quickly.

I know for a fact that casino’s have a heavy top down security net in place, I got friends who have worked for them.

So hopefully they can identify this person his room key card and all the above. And get this guys stuff back.

Its sad that someone did steal here, but with the way its setup over there people can walk in and out of the fanfaire areas during the day most of the time.

But as Isest says there are a lot of camera’s in a Casino like Bally’s, the ceiling is literally studded with them! While I’m not sure if/how many are in the Fanfaire areas I wouldn’t like to bet my life on there not being camera’s there, hopefully they can rewind back the tapes and watch people exiting the main hall areas.

Good point — the “eye in the sky” is everywhere in casinos.

Didn’t hear about that but someone did swipe a cell phone during the eq2 live quest. So someone had some sticky fingers there.

    For real …

    1) Contact LVPD, create a police report of the theft
    2) Contact Bally’s and let them know the Police will be looking at the film during the time when the box was stolen
    3) ID the theieves, pull their registration; let the police get in contact with their local police if they our out of towners
    4) Ban them from any other SOE event if sony finds out who it is

Hey feldon, is there any way to confirm this actually happened? Im like it came from a 3rd party source. I looked at this guys facebook but its been the same for days and not updated in forever. Also checked his website.

I am wondering now if the reports were true.

If it were me I would be making a huge stink.

I hope it’s real and not some slimy bid to get people to buy stuff from the guy … I only say that because at the end of the email it does ask people to go buy his stuff “for everything he does for the gaming community.”

It probably did happen. Just goes to show that you have to watch your stuff in a crowd of people =( Too bad.

Larry Elmore has been doing artwork for the EQ and EQ2 teams, as well as independently selling prints to players for many years. I have one of his prints on my wall. Also, this quote comes from Jethal Silverwing who I do not think would cook up a story like this.

Hey folks, this actually did happen. We had players present when his money bag went missing on the show floor, and it was reported immediately.

SOE also made sure that Larry did not go home out of pocket. Smed immediately said that we’d cover the loss. It happened on our turf, and nothing like this should ever happen to a kind, generous, supportive fellow like Larry. He’s been very good to SOE and the fans.

Its like you have to nail down your shirt these days to keep people from stealing them =(

Hope they find that thief as if he/she’s like that irl, they definitely wouldn’t bat an eyelash at scamming you in game.
