Had lots of nostalgia moments watching that video. I noticed Lord Doljonijiarnimorinar in the video at around 00:28 which was surprising to see. I’m excited to see more of Velketor’s Labyrinth and Tower of Frozen Shadows. I really can’t wait to see more.
Very nice indeed, I am alot happier after watching that vid than after reading the announcement. So what do you guys think the one huge contested dungeon will be? What was the biggest non raid dungeon in velious in EQ1?
was that wakening lands at the 1:05 mark?
@Tarb Possibly. It looks like the entrance to WL from Kael.
Tarb, top 2 dungeons in Velious wer Velketor Labyrinth with the mythical spiders spots and many more spots above (it also included raid pieces) and Kael Drakkal (The giant home). Crystal Caverns was also very popular (what they seem to call Ascent now), though it was a mid 30-40’s zone if my memory is correct. As Bryzon mentioned, Tower of Frozen Shadow was also a mid level zone with a few tricks, a lot of floors and many many ghosts 8)
Nice! I’m glad to see they pushed it back to next year. Lets hope she is much more polished this launch.
Is it me or has the game never been the same since Scott Hartsman left?
I’m not much on following stuff and recently became aware that Scott is heading up an up and coming mmo called Rift, a friend sent this link to me, an old EQ2 buddy actually who left a little over a year ago because the game just wasn’t the same anymore. He’s thinking this is more like the EQ2 we know and love? I dunno we’ll see, but after reading this I’d be lying if i was to say i wasn’t interested. Hmmm, maybe this was another push for EQ2’s hastily laid out F2P.

“Six Raid Instances – Group up with 12-24 man raids for desirable loot”
I wonder if they are going to have a 12 and a 24 man version for all 6 raid zones, like how wow is going to be doing it.
@Bryzon, thanks, thats what i thought, I was hoping it was since Kael was one of my favorite places in all of EQ I was really hoping it was still going to be there. I hope it is even bigger and more expanded than before, maybe that will be the contested dungeon 🙂
Ohhh so The Ascent is crystal caverns? Very excited indeed.
@Emmanuella: I sure hope they do that with them. That would be awesome to have more x2 raids in the world like WoE. If they pull that off by making the x4 raids scale down to x2 raids, works for me. 🙂
@Tarb The Ascent reminded me of Velk’s Lab too with the crystalline spiders on thin walkways.
VERY IMPRESSIVE i am stoked
Turning each raid instance into two versions (X2 and X4) would be great and would allow every kind of player (casual and hardcore raiders) to finish all quests and getting access to all the Lore of the game as well access to each zones, so that each player has a chance to admire each game art of the game. Quests linked to epic content could reward two version of the items depending on which zone you did to finish the quest (much like the fabled/mythical version of the T8 Epic Weapon quest).
X2 being set like WoE progression difficulty with nice rewards (better than heroic dungeons) and X4 for the more powerful raiders with really nice reward (better than X2).
This type of game layout is smooth and seems logical to me. Hope they are going that way.
and im pretty sure thats Velketor himself in the ice not Lord Doljonijiarnimorinar
Not impressed by it want to see much more details on it rather than a bland video needless to say I’m not holding my breath over this xpac the last 2 have been lemons and i cant see this one being any better but i would be very happy of course to be proved wrong i just don’t think i will be sadly.
