Smokejumper said several times to different people, with a HUGE grin on his face, about the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! To come on Tuesday. Several Devs were on hand to talk to today.

Kaitheel was caught out at copy and paste again! He admitted (blusing quite prettily I may add) That the jewel of the underfoot having a “play” feature was not intended… and that yes… it may have been the same item code as the kerra drum that has the same “play” feature, along with the same colored music notes that spiral around it!

Some Other devs discussed their areas. With VERY large **Hints** pointing at possibility of larger item counts for houses, and other housing / guild hall designs that they are hoping for a green light on!

Domino has some mid level crafting quest stuff going on.

Olihin Says that he hopes to do more dynamic BG’s. And was listening to the players on ideas for them, some were quite intriging!

Gninja says we need to take a closer look at the Keeper of Secrets in Nektulos forest… Apparently no one has figured it out yet… and we REALLY should!

Absolutely none of which I care about! Seriously, why do they keep inundating us with fluffy news about crafting and house decorating?

This was the SOE Block Party, not the Class Balance or Mechanics or Expansion panels at Fan Faire. Patience… 😉

I think the bg idea will kick ass and bring more players to the table give palyers who are not good at pvping but figuring things out and objectives will present more challenges for all

I am actually afraid of what the new SP’s “big” announcement is going to be. So far, I am not a fan of him.

Although i’m leaving the game once my last account expires i almost want to stay because of the new producer. I think he’s going to turn out OK, and if he does make some great changes i just may come back.

He’s active in the forums talking with the players. He actually plays the game which is huge. It was quite evident that some of his predecessors didn’t play at all and never talked with the community.

I get the feeling he is into the game, and i also feel that when he says he wants to make the game awesome, he really means it and isn’t just saying what he is supposed to say like his predecessor Brenlo. He is really trying to get a broad feel of the player base before he starts making moves, some of these changes were put into action before he started don’t forget.

Lets wait and see what he can do with it. I believe he might actually be able to turn this game around for the better and that is the most positive/hopeful thing I’ve seen for this game in a few years now.

I am glad to see they are looking at the whole health of the game and not just small pieces of it. Good to see they realize there is more to the game that people enjoy.

I am actually excited about the guild hall changes, I hope they are able to get it pushed through. I know it’s just fluff, but I <3 my fluff. I always thought it was silly that the guild halls in the alternate cities (halas, neriak) looked the same as their base halls in freeport/qeynos.

Even though this producer has said somethings that worry me, and has put his foot in his mouth a few times, and plays powerful classes (IE wizard/SK) and not some of the hurting classes, I think he is honestly trying to pump some life into this game. I think the game was limping along before, and at least with this producer he is communicating things to the public, and trying to be as straightforward and honest as he can be in his position. I think he has a lot more visibility than his predecessor and I think that is a good start. Even if some of his ideas are off, he's at least explaining why they are there.

I feel the same way about SmokeJumper here Blockhead, I’m optimistic that he can fix the game because of the way he’s approaching it. Its not just EQ2, I’ve seen in some other games where the devs clearly don’t seem to understand why players play it.

I’m sure he’ll annoy some of the forum goers whatever he does 🙂 But one problem with the forum is that few posters care about the health of the game, and too many are purely interested in their class being more powerful/pushing bigger numbers/doing what they do quicker and faster.

As for the big announcement, not sure here, I’m expecting something like the in zone taxi’s to be linked up properly, but that isn’t a big announcement.

We already know spell graphics are being updated, its not big either then.

My feeling though is the biggest problem we have is the core game mechanics themselves, the numbers are no longer working, even a non raider like myself was hitting the 75% mitigation caps in several resists in VP and 72% physical mit + 100% DA and crit etc etc.

So my bet is the big announcement will be an itemisation revamp, although I expected this to come with the next expac.

Not sure what the big announcement is either, because they said “big” you start thinking this or that and really ends up being something trivial.

EQ2 going F2P, now that would be big and exactly the shot in the arm this game needs.

I know people will say they will quit. I only ask and look at lotro and how they are doing it, they still have subs, you can still pay if it’s that important to you. Based on lotro’s initial reports they have already started to add more servers. Hmmm and here EQ2 fans are screaming for server merges, interesting.

I’m thinking that server mergers might be the big news.

I raid, but i’m not hard core. But I do appreciate the GH and crafting changes, since I like those as well. Not everyone wants to worry about their end-game stats. The folks who do are important, of course, but so are the folks who like the other stuff. Cater to just any one group and that’s not good IMO. Crossing my fingers for SJ.

Making battlegrounds more dynamic would be very appreciated.
